The highly-anticipated Daisy Edgar-Jones and Jacob Elordi romance “On Swift Horses” will make its U.S. premiere at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival. The film’s start marks the festival’s end.

IndieWire can announce that the epic from “Fellow Travelers” director Daniel Minahan is the Closing Night feature for SXSW. As previously confirmed, “Another Simple Favor” will make its world premiere as the Opening Night selection; Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Apple TV+ series “The Studio” is the Opening Night TV premiere. South by Southwest has rounded out its film lineup for the 2025 edition, while also announcing that Daniel Minahan’s On Swift Horses will close the Film & TV Festival in its U.S. premiere.

Daisy Edgar-Jones, Jacob Elordi and Will Poulter starring movie follows Muriel (Edgar-Jones) and her husband Lee (Poulter) as they are about to begin a bright new life, which is upended by the arrival of Lee’s brother. Muriel embarks on a secret life, gambling on racehorses and discovering a love she never thought possible. The Sony Pictures Classics romance also features Diego Calva and Sasha Calle. Pic was produced by Peter Spears, Daniel Minahan, Tim Headington, Mollye Asher, Theresa Steele Page, Michael D’Alto and written by Bryce Kass. Diiv’s fourth studio album, Frog In Boiling Water, has arrived.

Spanning 10 songs, Frog In Boiling Water sees Diiv employ their blend of dreamy post-rock to tackle the topic of society’s collapse under late-stage capitalism. Its title — taken from Daniel Quinn’s novel The Story of B — serves as a metaphor to the “brutal realities we’ve maybe come to accept as normal,” according to the band.

“The album is more or less a collection of snapshots from various angles of our modern condition which we think highlights what this collapse looks like and, more particularly, what it feels like,” the band continued. Indeed, songs like the the title track resonant with lyrics like “Wasted all the commons/ A looted golden calf/ Ivory towers and ivory crosses/ My livelihood is rotting in your hand, man.”

Diiv have announced a new album, Frog in Boiling Water, due out May 24th via Fantasy Records. Today, the band has shared the project’s lead single, “Brown Paper Bag.”

Frog in Boiling Water arrives as the band’s third album and follows their 2019 effort Deceiver. Boasting production from Chris Coady, the album takes its name from Daniel Quinn’s The Story of B and fittingly explores themes of gradual collapse, according to the press release.

“If you drop a frog in a pot of boiling water, it will of course frantically try to clamber out,” the band explained. “But if you place it gently in a pot of tepid water and turn the heat on low, the frog will sink into a tranquil stupor, exactly like one of us in a hot bath, and before long, with a smile on its face, it will unresistingly allow itself to be boiled to death.

Exclusive: Lony Ruhmann, Blanc/Biehn Productions and Give & Take Productions are ramping up production on the thriller.

Nicholl Fellowship winner Barbara Stepansky wrote the screenplay based on a story by Ruhmann about a widow who comes to terms with who her recently murdered husband really was as she probes his secret sex.

Brianne Davis, who earlier this year directed The Night Visitor 2: Heather’s Story, will direct.

Vedette Lim will play the lead and the key cast includes Andrew W Walker, Kellee Stewart Adam Rose, Daniel Quinn, Mark Gantt, Mitchell Fink, Lucie Pohl, Sean Hemeon, Nikita Black and Jenimay Walker.

Mark Gantt produces Psychophonia while Michael Biehn and Jennifer Blanc-Biehn (pictured) serve as executive producers alongside Ruhmann and Brianne Davis.

It's tough to compete with Olly Moss when it comes to movie posters, but Rubber is trying by releasing a new poster by Boris Vallejo (who last did the poster for 2007's Aqua Teen Hunger Force).  The movie is a tough sell since the protagonist is a rubber tire, but Magnet is doing a good job when it comes to their marketing.  The film was released on VOD last week and I've heard nothing but positive things about it. Danger has come to the Discovery Channel, but not in its production.

A gunman who's suspected to be James Lee is holding at least one person hostage at the Discovery Channel networks headquarters in Silver Springs, MD on Wednesday (Sept. 1), according to news reports.

[Update: CNN reports that the suspect has been shot by snipers and is in custody. The hostages have been released safely.]

Lee, who has protested against Discovery before, has issued his list of demands, the first of which is below:

1. The Discovery Channel and it's affiliate channels Must have daily television programs at prime time slots based on Daniel Quinn's "My Ishmael" pages 207-212 where solutions to save the planet would be done in the same way as the Industrial Revolution was done, by people building on each other's inventive ideas. Focus must be given on how people can live Without giving birth to more filthy human children since those new additions continue pollution and are pollution.
