Sometimes, the stars just align for romance.
In 1977, Chevy Chase was filming an NBC special on the same soundstage as the ill-fated Brady Bunch Variety Hour. If not for that confluence of unlikely events, Chase would never have been able to whisper to Florence Henderson that Steve Martin wanted the phone number of her TV daughter, 20-year-old Maureen McCormick.
You read that right — the Jerk asked for Marcia Brady’s digits.
“Of course I gave my permission,” gushed McCormick in her memoir, Here’s the Story. “I was flattered. Steve Martin was like a rock star, not just a wild and crazy guy but a wildly funny and, from what I understood, a wildly intelligent guy too.”
Martin, about 10 years older than the sitcom star, dazzled McCormick when he got her on the phone. He asked her out to Hollywood hot spot Musso & Frank, and McCormick accepted, though each of...

If you can’t believe the guy who played Jed Clampett and Barnaby Jones, who can you trust?
MeTV recently dug up an old episode of The Howard Stern Show in which Robin Quivers passed along some steaming hot Beverly Hillbillies tea. “Buddy Ebsen, he’s leaking information now,” Quivers reported in 2001. “Buddy Ebsen now says that the president, Dwight David Eisenhower, had a thing for (TV daughter) Elly Mae. When he met up with him, Ike kept asking him if he could get Elly Mae’s phone number. (Eisenhower asked Ebsen) what it was like to get to hug her all the time?”
Wasn’t Eisenhower a little old for Donna Douglas, the actress who played Elly Mae? Definitely, considering that The Beverly Hillbillies didn’t begin airing until he was out of office. Irene Ryan, who played Granny, would have been more age-appropriate. “They say he was in his 70s,...

As fans celebrated the film mastery of the late Gene Hackman over the past week, some pondered the sliding-door moment that could have changed his acting career forever. After all, if sitcom producer Sherwood Schwartz had his way, the unknown Broadway actor would have been cast as Mike Brady, patriarch of The Brady Bunch.
Hackman was Schwartz’s first choice for the role, but ABC executives rejected the idea. Who had heard of Gene Hackman? They wanted someone with more experience like Robert Reed, who TV viewers knew well from several seasons starring in ‘60s legal drama The Defenders. Hackman, on the other hand, only had one-shot appearances on shows like I Spy, The FBI and Route 66. Ironically, he also guested twice on The Defenders.
Lucky for everyone, Hackman didn’t get the part, clearing the way for an Academy Award just a couple of years later for The French Connection.

Jerry Springer and Howard Stern were both controversial media icons in the 1990s. At one point, the former nearly made Oprah Winfrey quit TV because of his "vulgar" show. So it made sense that he got along with the multimillionaire shock jock. The Howard Stern Show had always welcomed Jerry.
Howard even got Jerry to spill the tea on his "trash" reality TV show, which was sued for the deaths of two former guests. The latter also came clean on the former's radio show about the real reason he publicly admitted to soliciting a prostitute during his political days. Here's a closer look at Jerry and Howard's friendship.

When it comes to famous relationships in the music industry, few can hold a candle to the high-profile whirlwind that was Diddy and Jennifer Lopez’s romance. But, as they say, all good things must come to an end. Lopez, not one to rest on her laurels, soon garnered attention for her other iconic relationships, particularly with Ben Affleck, a pairing that the media affectionately dubbed ‘Bennifer’.

Meanwhile, Diddy found himself reflecting on a love that, though in the rearview mirror, still elicited strong feelings. During a candid moment on The Howard Stern Show, he was confronted with questions about Lopez and Affleck. While he endeavored to handle the inquiries gracefully, it was clear that the subject made him quite uncomfortable.

Saturday Night Live has been a source of comedic talent for generations upon generations. The famous sketch comedy show has been a go-to for the latest, most promising comedic actors and writers. It has introduced famous actors such as Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, and Tina Fey.
However, the show is about to enter its landmark 50th season and rumors of creator Lorne Michaels' future are running rampant.
This was a topic Howard Stern asked Michael Che and Colin Jost about when they were guests on his show. The dynamic duo have been writers and performers on SNL for over ten years. It was during their interview that Jost and Stern realized a particular topic of discussion made Che very uncomfortable.

Gilbert Gottfried blew it. His job squawking “Af-lac!” on insurance commercials was one of the cushiest gigs around, earning him big paychecks for easy afternoons of voice-over work. He lost the gig in 2011, however, when he took to Twitter to make jokes about a Japanese earthquake and subsequent tsunami. Reminiscent of his 9/11 jokes that practically invented the term “too soon,” Gottfried unleashed one-liners like “I just split up with my girlfriend, but like the Japanese say, ‘They’ll be another one floating by any minute now.’”
Despite an eventual apology, Gottfried’s gags were a step too far for Aflac, which didn’t want its duck associated with such insensitivity. Japan accounted for about 75 percent of Aflac’s business, so the breakup with Gottfried was understandable. But it meant the insurer needed a new duck voice, prompting a casting call that saw more than 12,000 people competing to quack for Aflac.

Howard Stern went from an outrageous personality to a serious conversationalist, making his interviews a source of revelations from celebrities. Seth MacFarlane shocked Stern by revealing he missed a flight on 9/11, escaping death, showing how coincidences happen. Comedian Steve Rannazzisi admitted to lying about surviving 9/11, apologizing for the hurt caused and learning from his mistake.
Howard Stern has become known for his outrageous personality and pushing the envelope. He caused controversy with his on-air antics and became a symbol of fighting against censorship. Stern would ask celebrities questions nobody else would dare, and he developed a reputation for going against the establishment.
However, over the years, Stern has matured and evolved into a more serious conversationalist. His interviews have become the source of revelations from the world's most recognizable celebrities.
When Seth MacFarlance appeared on Stern's show in 2009, he shocked both the host and Robin Quivers when discussing one aspect of his story.

McCartney handled being flirted with by Robin Quivers graciously and respectfully. Fans felt embarrassed for Quivers, but some praised her boldness. McCartney's mutual respect with Taylor Swift and past friendship with Michael Jackson were discussed.
Paul McCartney has had quite a career. From his days in The Beatles to his incredible solo work, McCartney is no doubt a music legend.
McCartney has recounted stories of his life and career to Howard Stern many times over the years. During his appearances, McCartney has spoken about his success as well as his relationships with other stars like Michael Jackson and Taylor Swift.
But there was one moment when McCartney was hit on by none other than Stern's co-host Robin Quivers. At the time, McCartney was single and Quivers decided to shoot her shot with the rock legend. McCartney handled the situation in the best way possible.

Was the King of All Media almost the Supreme Leader of Latveria?
In the mighty MCU multiverse, there appears to be at least one reality in which SiriusXM shock jock Howard Stern would have played Dr. Doom. Or appeared in a Doom-adjacent project. Or welcomed Victor Von Doom into the Wack Pack.
Is any of it true? It’s a question worthy of Marvel’s Disney+ series What If…?
The story all started in the innocent, pre-Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania days of 2022 when a hot mic caught some inadvertent Stern chatter with Robin Quivers after he mistakenly believed the show had signed off for the summer.
The villainous dialogue happens under various radio commercials and show audio, but it’s not hard to make out Stern’s villainous plans: “They’re going over the schedule with me, and it’s gonna suck,” Stern moans.

Don Buchwald, the colorful talent agent who spent the past four decades in the entertainment business representing Howard Stern and many others, has died. He was 88.
Buchwald died Monday of natural causes at his home in the Berkshires in North Egremont, Massachusetts, his agency announced.
The Brooklyn native launched Don Buchwald & Associates in 1977 with an original team of five agents, and he would open an additional office in Los Angeles in 1992. The bicoastal firm, which now goes by Buchwald, employs 130 employees who work across many platforms of entertainment and media.
Buchwald served as Stern’s agent, manager and publicist since the early 1980s. He got his most famous client a landmark deal with Sirius Xm satellite radio in 2015 that was estimated to be worth about $90 million a year. Stern nicknamed him “Superagent.”

Robin Quivers, the longtime co-host of the Howard Stern Show, has recently embraced a new look as she shed her wigs to openly showcase her bald head.
In a recent appearance on the Stern Show Summer School, Quivers discussed her journey with cancer and how she has learned to embrace her natural appearance.
Quivers, who was diagnosed with stage 3C endometrial cancer in 2012, has undergone extensive treatment, which includes a hysterectomy and 15 months of chemotherapy and radiation. In this time, she lost her hair, a common side effect of cancer treatment; initially, Quivers wore wigs to conceal her baldness, but she has since made the decision to embrace her true look.
“Well, it’s my normal hairdo,” Quivers remarked, “I lost my hair in the second round of chemo I had to take in 2017, so I’ve been like this since then.” She explained that she only wears a wig...

Jerry Seinfeld has apologized to Howard Stern for comments he made about the radio personality in a recent podcast interview, including that Stern lacked “comedy chops.”
“I really feel bad for what I said about my friend Howard Stern in a conversation with David Spade and Dana Carvey, talking about the glut of comedy podcasts,” he told TMZ, referring to his appearance on Carvey and Spade’s “Fly on the Wall” podcast.
While discussing the popularity of podcast culture with Carvey and Spade, Seinfeld asked the two fellow comedians, “Howard Stern invented this, right?”
“But we’re better than him now,” Seinfeld continued. “Howard is interesting. Howard is a great interviewer, but comedy chops, I mean, can we speak candidly?”
Spade said “Sure,” while Carvey said, “No!” as they both laughed. “Well, he got Robin, and Robin is a big part of how he’s funny,” Carvey said of Stern’s co-host Robin Quivers.

Howard Stern said on Monday that he’d love to have exercise guru Richard Simmons on his show to “get to the bottom” of why he dropped out of sight. But so far, Simmons has turned down his invites.
The “Sweatin’ to the Oldies” star, who hasn’t made a public appearance since 2013, alarmed fans last week when a tweet of his implied he was dying. The 75-year-old later clarified that his tweet was not to be taken literally and that he was in good health (since everyone is technically always one day closer to their inevitable death).
After Stern discussed the incident, his producer Gary Dell’Abate said he’d been corresponding with Simmons, who is a friend.
“I wrote to Richard, not for airtime for the radio, and I’m not gonna talk about what we discussed, but I did confirm that I was corresponding with him. Because, you know,...

Howard Stern has been one of the most controversial – and revered – figures in the history of modern media. With a passion for the field as a child, Stern’s climb to the top of the radio world truly began in the ‘80s. And he did it off of his unique, button-pressing, FCC-clashing brand and humor: the boobs, the prank calls, the Wack Pack, all of it all made Howard Stern one of the most recognizable figures in all of media. And so as his markets grew and his written word topped the charts – but long before his first $500 million contract with Sirius – it was time for Stern to enter the movie business…with something a little more commercially viable than Butt Bongo Fiesta.

But nowadays he spends more time delving into their insights in his outstanding celebrity interviews. However, Stern is not above mixing it up with an A-list when he thinks it's called for.

Director, producer and screenwriter Jason Reitman, son of director Ivan Reitman, is paying tribute to his late father’s dear friend, writer-producer Daniel Goldberg, who died today at 74. Goldberg was a writer and/or producer on several of Ivan Reitman’s films and a father figure to Jason. Here is his first-person remembrance.
Dan Goldberg is the writer and producer of some of your favorite films. He made a career of dangerous outsider comedies that often-challenged comfort zones, yet he was one of the kindest and most gentle souls I’ve ever known. This morning, he passed away in Los Angeles.

During his radio show on Monday, Howard Stern criticized Oprah Winfrey for “showing off” her lavish lifestyle on social media and lacking self-awareness for those less fortunate.
Winfrey’s net worth is estimated to be 2.5 billion. The talk-show mogul routinely posts her expansive estate, including its massive garden that Stern referred to as a farm.
In August, Winfrey posted a video pushing Gayle King‘s grandson through her garden. In the caption, she wrote, “First Harvest Day and garden adventure for Luca and my first time pushing a stroller.” In the video Winfrey says pushing a stroller is “new territory” for her.
Stern said Winfrey has “gotta be a little self-aware and know there are people struggling out there.” He expressed disgust for her showing off that “she’s got servants and like people cooking” for her.

Howard Stern has shared some harsh judgements of Oprah Winfrey, concerning her “wealth” and how she displays it.
Over the holiday weekend, the former Oprah Winfrey Show host shared a few videos from her home where she had lunch with Abbott Elementary creator and star Quinta Brunson.
In the background of the clips, a portion of Winfrey’s beautiful home and garden can be seen.
“Oprah’s not embarrassed by her wealth at all,” Stern said on Monday’s (28 November) episode of his self-titled radio show, The Howard Stern Show. “She loves showing it off on Instagram. It’s f***ing mindblowing when you follow her on Instagram, you see her estates, her gardens, the people who service her.”
His co-host Robin Quivers joked: “Service her? She’s not a car.”
“Well, she kind of is,” Stern responded. “She’s got servants and like people cooking and it’s f***king wild.

Howard Stern built his reputation by saying shocking things on the microphone. But his latest shocking comment making the rounds was broadcast accidentally. After recording an episode of his Sirius Xm radio show, Stern and his co-host Robin Quivers talk about summer plans, unaware that their mics were still going. Under the sound of ads and promotional music, listeners caught Stern referring to a fan-favorite character.
In a clip circulating on Twitter, Stern is griping about his upcoming schedule when Robin asks if he’ll be working over the summer. “I told you, I’m doing Doctor Doom,” Stern responds, followed by conversation too muddled to make out. One can clearly hear Stern reference the variety show America’s Got Talent, for which he served as a judge, and the phrase “I’m an asshole,” which could refer to either his character on a Doom project or his general dissatisfaction with his workload.

Howard Stern called out Johnny Depp for “overacting” while Depp testified against Amber Heard during the former couple’s defamation trial, which has been livestreamed on various platforms since April 11. Depp is suing Heard for defamation after she alluded to their alleged abusive relationship in an op-ed piece written for The Washington Post. Heard’s legal team reportedly tried to block cameras from livestreaming the trial, which was approved by Judge Penney Azcarate. Depp’s team did not publicly challenge the decision.

George Clooney has long been vocal about his much derided brush with playing the Caped Crusader in Joel Schumacher’s “Batman & Robin.” From the perhaps too anatomically correct Batsuit to the movie’s wild swings in tone, the 1997 sequel to “Batman Forever” is universally regarded as a flop.
Clooney recently reflected again on what a disaster the movie personally was for him during a new episode of “The Howard Stern Show” (via Deadline). Clooney sat down with Stern and his co-host Robin Quivers to discuss his new film “The Midnight Sky” on Netflix, among other wide-ranging topics. Though at the time of the release of “Batman & Robin” Clooney was hot off “ER,” which he starred in through 1999, the Batman film was meant to be his big break onto the big screen.
“It’s so bad that it actually hurts to watch,” Clooney said on the show. “It physically hurts.

Howard Stern and SiriusXM have announced a new agreement under which the broadcaster will continue to produce and host The Howard Stern Show for SiriusXM for the next five years, and the Howard Stern archive of audio and video will continue to be licensed to SiriusXM for an additional seven years. Vying for the heart of Howard Stern co-host Robin Quivers isn’t for the weak. So “American Idol” alum Jackie Tohn, who stars in the Netflix wrestling comedy “Glow,” threw herself into the ring, recruiting Stern song parody veteran Eli Bradon for a pair of parodies that had Stern and his SiriusXM listeners in stitches.
Tohn’s two collaborations with Braden — raunchy love songs to Quivers set to Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s sultry duet of “Shallow” from “A Star is Born,” and a positively filthy take on Cher’s “Believe” — both received big praise from Stern, who said the “Shallow” duet, which encouraged Quivers to try hooking up with girls, gave him “chills.”
“Fred is tearing up right now,” he laughed.
Getting the song on the show, Tohn said, and having Stern give her a big plug was one of the “biggest highlights of my career,” she tells Variety.

ESPN Films’ 20-hour, six-week documentary “Basketball: A Love Story” more resembles a modern rom-com than your typical documentary. Rather than a chronological history lesson, it’s an episodic collection of anecdotes and stories that in some ways have more in common with “Love, Actually” than Ken Burns’ completist “Baseball.”
The film weaves through the heartbreaking story of paralyzed player Maurice Stokes and his dedicated teammate Jack Twyman to the bitter women’s basketball rivalry of Tennessee’s Pat Summit and Connecticut’s Geno Auriemma to tales of UCLA’s rise, the Dream Team, the Magic/Bird rivalry, the Aba and the emergence of international stars in the NBA with plenty of stops in-between.

In a recently unearthed 2003 interview with Howard Stern, Quentin Tarantino made it clear that he does not believe Roman Polanski is a rapist. During the interview, which was recently unearthed by Jezebel, Stern confronted Tarantino with audio recorded by his roving reporter Gary Garver, who Tarantino had told in an interview that it was “pretty cool actually” that Polanski had recently won the Best Directing Oscar for “The Pianist,” and that he didn’t consider the Academy Award winner a rapist.
In 1977, film director Roman Polanski was arrested and charged with raping 13-year-old Samantha Geimer — the five specific charges were rape by use of drugs, perversion, sodomy, lewd and lascivious act upon a child under 14, and furnishing a controlled substance to a minor. Polanski pled guilty in exchange for a lesser charge of engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse, but in 1978 fled the country upon learning that he was likely to face imprisonment and deportation.

Old audio of Quentin Tarantino defending director Roman Polanski, who was convicted of statutory rape of a 13-year-old girl in 1977 has resurfaced. The audio is from an interview the Kill Bill director did with Howard Stern shortly after Polanski was honored by the Academy Awards for his work on The Pianist. Tarantino supported the Academy's decision, which Stern question him about, considering Polanski's checkered past with sexual misconduct. Here was Tarantino's initial response.
"He didn't rape a 13-year-old. It was statutory rape...he had sex with a minor. That's not rape. To me, when you use the word rape, you're talking about violent, throwing them down, it's like one of the most violent crimes in the world. You can't throw the word rape around. It's like throwing the word 'racist' around. It doesn't apply to everything people use it for."
Roman Polanski was convicted and, instead of facing sentencing, he fled the country.

George Takei has issued an official statement on his Facebook page apologizing for comments he made about sexual assault during an October interview with Howard Stern. During the taping of Stern’s SiriusXM radio show, Takei was asked whether or not he had ever grabbed a man’s genitals against his will, to which he said “uh oh” and laughed. When Stern and co-host Robin Quivers suggested that Takei “persuaded” men to let him touch them and asked if these encounters occurred at work, Takei responded, “It was either in my home. They came to my home.”

When it comes to dating Scarlett Johansson, it's complicated.
The 32-year-old actress appeared on Howard Stern's Sirius Xm show on Monday, where she was pressed about her newly single status, after filing for divorce from her husband, French journalist Romain Dauriac, earlier this month. Johansson said she worries less about her fame getting in the way of dating again, as opposed to how it will affect her daughter, 2-year-old Rose.
"I'm on guard because I have a young daughter," Johansson said, agreeing with co-host Robin Quivers that she would never introduce her daughter to just anyone. "That's something I'm more concerned about."
