Celebrating 28 years of Ghulam, which starred Aamir Khan and Rani Mukerjee, Subhash K Jha talks with Lalit Pandit about the making on the music.

Jatin-Lalit’s music in Vikram Bhatt’s Ghulam which turned 27 on June 19, is remembered to this day , especially Aamir Khan’s ‘Aati Kya Khandala’.

Recalls Lalit, “This being a Mukesh Bhatt film and and coming from a production house which makes an extra effort in their music was a very important film, and an important score for Jatin Lalit. It had Aamir, so there was pressure as always to deliver a successful music score. We had already worked in Vikram Bhatt’s first directorial film, Fareb, which had tremendous music and again it was the same team, except that Ghulam had a huge star Aamir. The music was done with a lot of effort by a huge musical team to see that no stone was left unturned to achieve success.

John Abraham
Salman Khan may be lending his voice for Sooraj Pancholi in Hero by singing the title song. However, John Abraham isn't far behind. For his Welcome Back, he has sung an entire song and that too for himself. Titled 'Time Lagaye Kaiko, Arrey Ban Ja Meri Baiko', it is a 'tapori' number on the lines of 'Aati Kya Khandala'. "John has never sung before and it was the film's director Anees Bazmee who insisted that he sings," informs our source, "This is an out and out tapori number and is a totally new thing for John, especially after films like Madras Cafe, Race 2 and Shootout at Wadala where he played a serious part.
