As one of the best character actors in the business, David Krumholtzs best movies and TV shows display the incredible career the actor has had over the past several decades. Throughout the years, he has worked with filmmakers like the Coen Brothers, Ang Lee, and Christopher Nolan, showcasing his talent in comedy and drama.

While Krumholtz has rarely been the leading man, he has also elevated most of the projects he is in with scene-stealing performances and a memorable presence on screen. Juan Fernández, Madeline Zima, and Josh Stewart in The Collector (2009)
‘The Collected’ – Marcus Dunstan Teases New Life for Third Movie
Juan Fernández, Madeline Zima, and Josh Stewart in The Collector (2009)
It’s been a couple years since we’ve heard a peep about The Collected, the planned third installment in the horror trilogy that began with The Collector and continued with The Collection. The hotly anticipated film had briefly entered production before shutting down back in 2020, you may recall, but it sounds like it’s getting a second chance at life here in 2024.

Chatting with YouTube’s David Clair-Bennett, director Marcus Dunstan (The Collector, The Collection, #Amfad: All My Friends Are Dead) offers up an exciting update this week.

Dunstan tells the channel, “After five years of Gordian Knot untangling, The Collector is free. The Collector gets to come back. And it is something that… Josh Stewart… we’re pumped… Emma Fitzpatrick… we’re thrilled. We want to come back and do it right.”

“What are the next steps? Well, really we’re at the nascent stage,” Dunstan continues. “So...

The Collected: long-awaited sequel to The Collector and The Collection is finally coming back together
Image
Back in September of 2019, we reported that The Collected – the third film in the franchise that began with 2009’s The Collector (watch it Here) and continued with 2012’s The Collection (watch that Here) – had started filming in Atlanta. Genre legend Tom Atkins had a role in the film, and he told us that the first thing shot on The Collected was the twelve-page sequence that makes up the ending. Nearly five years later, that’s still all that has been shot for The Collected. Writer/director Marcus Dunstan and co-writer Patrick Melton previously revealed that production was shut down on The Collected after just eight days of filming… but it looks like this project is finally coming back together and moving forward again!

After the production shutdown, Dunstan and Melton stopped hearing from anyone involved behind the scenes. Attempts to get in contact with the producer who held the rights went unanswered.

Numbers Star David Krumholtz Tried to Reboot the Show: 'I Sort of Put the Idea Out Into the World'
Image
David Krumholtz tried to revive Numb3rs, but CBS said no. He also discussed the potential revival of Freaks & Geeks, but believes it's unlikely to happen. Krumholtz reflected on being part of the Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer.

In an exclusive interview with MovieWeb, Numbers star David Krumholtz revealed to us that he has tried to bring back the crime drama series for a revival. Likening the return of Numbers (also sometimes known as NUMB3RS) to such recent comebacks as those made by Frasier and Monk, Krumholtz said that he did “put the idea” of a Numbers revival “out into the world,” but, sadly, CBS said “no.”

"I was, a few years ago. I sort of put the idea out into the world, called the creators of the show and said, 'Hey, why don't we do this? They're starting to reboot stuff.' And they took it to CBS, and CBS said no.

The Oc: Was Ryan The Father Of Theresa's Baby?
Image
The O.C. left some unresolved storylines, like the identity of Theresa's baby's father, which keeps audiences engaged and the show alive in cultural conversations. The open-ended nature of Theresa's baby mystery allowed for interesting narrative tension and kept Ryan and Theresa connected yet distant throughout the show. Along with Theresa's baby mystery, The O.C. also left other unanswered questions, such as the disappearance of household staff and the sudden reveal of Caleb's financial troubles.

Although The O.C. came to an end in 2007, it left a couple of unresolved storylines that some are still trying to figure out, including the question of who’s the father of Theresa’s baby, something that the series hinted at but was never resolved. Created by Josh Schwartz, The O.C. debuted on Fox in 2003 and concluded in 2007. Though it became one of the most popular teen dramas of the 2003-2004 season and received very positive reviews,...

The Collected Director, Co-Writer Reveal Nothing Has Happened with the Movie Since 2019
Image
Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton have set the record straight on The Collected (aka The Collector 3), revealing that the anticipated horror sequel has gotten stuck in development hell. Previously, there have been reports of The Collector and The Collection getting another installment of the franchise with director Dunstan and co-writer Melton back on board. Randy Havens, Dot-marie Jones, and Navi Rawat were reportedly part of the cast with images from the set hitting the internet earlier this year.

Unfortunately for horror fans imagining that all of this meant that The Collector 3 would be coming out soon, Dunstan and Melton now say that this is not at all the case. Speaking about the status of the sequel on Sean Clark's https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjea_nEVXslT-AboX7HZ3Xg|The Thing With Two Heads podcast, Dunstan explains that the team had only shot for just over a week before the production was shut down.

‘The Lachrymist’ is a Mind-Bending, One-Take Wonder
Short of the DayHang on to your sanity.

Literally, the word “lachrymology” means “the study of crying.” Philosophically, it describes the belief that spiritual advancement is only possible through pain, both of the physical and emotional varieties.

While The Lachrymist from writer-director Matthew Gowan doesn’t confront this philosophy head on, it is certainly an emotional undercurrent of this taut, chilling, deviously confounding tale of psychological terror.

The plot is hauntingly simple: Savitri (Navi Rawat, Numb3rs, The O.C.) checks into a hotel room with her husband Byron (James Harvey Ward, True Blood, Low Winter Sun). At one point, she leaves the room, but when she tries to make her way back to it, somehow she can’t seem to find it. She asks the staff to help her, but they can’t because she’s not a registered guest of the hotel. Furthermore, they claim to have never seen her, and...

Time to Check out the Opening Scene from Horror Sequel The Collection
If you reside in the Us then you're in luck because Marcus Dunstan ('Piranha 3Dd') and Patrick Melton's ('Saw 3D') horror follow-up to the gruesome home invasion thriller 'The Collector' hits theatres today. 'The Collection' opens today and sees Josh Stewart ('The Dark Knight Rises') reliving his nightmares experienced in the first installment and the opening 6 minutes of the movie has premiered online. I'm not sure how I feel about watching the opening minutes of any movie to be honest. I understand why its done but I always want to experience the whole movie from start to finish uninterupted on my own time, not pieces of clips or opening sequences watched out of order and leaving my overactive brain to piece it altogether before I've even sat in my cinema seat. But if you're intrigued enough then head below and check out the clip.

November Preview: ‘Flight,’ ‘Skyfall,’ and ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′
Monthly Movie Preview – November 2012

In a very crude generalization, the last three or four months of the calendar year is like the summer movie season for “smart” movies. Instead of being overloaded with expensive “tentpole” wannabe blockbusters, we instead are bombarded with wannabe Oscar-winners, some of them demanding gold statues for their promising casting alone. In that regard, the month of November has such releases as Life of Pi, Flight, Hitchcock, The Silver Linings Playbook, Lincoln, Anna Karenina, and more.

However, this is still the Hollywood we love, so there’s plenty of mainstream fare soon to be at our disposal. This month offers us the conclusion to a highly lucrative teen horror franchise (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2), a new James Bond movie (Skyfall), a remake of the ’80s masterpiece Red Dawn, and a Disney movie based on video game history (Wreck-It Ralph).

Take Our Poll November 2

Enter the Abode of a Killer with this First Trailer for The Collection
Marcus Dunstan's first feature film as director was The Collector from 2009. This was a film that had some similarities to the Saw franchise as a trap lurked around every corner. In fact, Dunstan was the writer for at least four Saw films. He has decided to follow up the relative success of the original with a second film named The Collection. The sequel also brings traps and perhaps some manipulation as seen in the film's first trailer. The character Arkin, played by Josh Stewart, returns and this time he is tasked with finding the Collector in his hideout. Except, this is a place built of nightmares and toothy spikes. Have a look at the first clip for The Collection below. Release Date: November 30th (Theatrical). Director: Marcus Dunstan. Writers: Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Cast: Daniel Sharman, Erin Way, Josh Stewart, Christopher McDonald, Lee Tergesen, Navi Rawat, Johanna Braddy,...

Josh Stewart returns as Arkin to suffer more at the hands of the masked 'collector' in theatres from 30 November. Fitzpatrick becomes the latest victim to be added to the torturer's sick collection and its once again up to Arkin to save the day. Dunstan co-wrote the sequel along with 'Saw IV', V and VI writing partner Patrick Melton. Christopher McDonald ('The Faculty'), Daniel Sharman, Andre Royo, Navi Rawat, Lee Tergesen, Eaddy Mays, Brandon Molale, Shannon Kane, Justin Mortelliti, Robert Pralgo, William Peltz and Tim Griffin all co-star.

Four New Images and a Release Date for 'The Collection'
Today we have some new imagery from Marcus Dunstan’s forthcoming follow up to the now rather appreciated (it wasn’t upon release, I should note) The Collector, appropriately titled, The Collection. A few of these images are pretty damn gnarly, I must say, and if gore happens to be your thing, these should sate the appetite! The Collection is written and directed by Marcus Dunstan, who had some assistance with the script by Patrick Melton. Johanna Braddy (Paranormal Activity 3), Josh Stewart (The Collector), Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore), Daniel Sharman (MTV’s Teen Wolf), Emma Fitzpatrick (The Social Network), Andre Royo (Super) and Navi Rawat (Feast) star.

Hollywood talent manager hunts for Bollywood talent
An Indian American talent manager in Hollywood, who manages stars like Irrfan Khan in the Us, is on a mission to rope in top Bollywood stars and promote films to be shot in India. 'I don't see it as a challenge but more so as a creative interest,' Jai Khanna, manager at Brillstein Entertainment Partners, a Hollywood talent management film and television production company, said in an interview. 'Both industries are thriving with talented artists, technicians and stories,' he told Ians. But 'I have a special affinity with Indian cinema and talent, as a first generation Indo-American exposed to the best of both worlds. 'With select talent from India, the 'challenge' is to bring them interesting material and have a creative and fruitful conversation about the benefits and negatives to engaging in such a project.' Khanna, who booked Irrfan Khan on Sony's new big-budget 3D Spider-Man film,...

DVD Releases: 9/14/2010: Have a Fringe Feast in Amityville at Twilight
After a very quiet post-Labor Day weekend for new movies, where Resident Evil: Afterlife (review) was the only major film released widely (and owned the box office), this week's new horror DVD titles aren't aplenty either.

But we do have television shows from the recent season and re-releases of older titles all trying to chase the Blu(-ray) dollar.

Fringe: The Complete Second Season

Directed by Various

While "Fringe" is not strictly horror per se, the sense of fear and suspense that greets us week after week should qualify for some mention. They have enough quality freaks of the week and bloodshed to satisfy the fiends in us. This is the acting job that Leonard Nimoy is retiring from! "Fringe" stars Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson, John Noble, Lance Reddick, Blair Brown and Jasika Nicole.

Buy the Blu-ray set or the regular DVD box set.

Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell, and Jeffrey Donovan in Burn Notice (2007)
'Burn Notice,' you need a great female guest role and the right actress to fill it
Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell, and Jeffrey Donovan in Burn Notice (2007)
On last night’s Burn Notice, we presumably said goodbye to Navi Rawat’s Kendra, an assassin who finally got truly interesting when she repeatedly beat her own head on the desk during Michael and Jesse’s interrogation to prove she wasn’t going to break. The shot of her smirking as the blood oozed from the wound — more memorable than any scene that involved Moon Bloodgood’s Miami Pd detective in season 3. By the end of the hour, I was almost sorry to see her go. Why haven’t we seen a great female foil for Michael on this...

Review: Burn Notice – ‘Entry Point’
Episode: Entry Point (Season 4, Episode 6) Synopsis: Jesse takes a turn at cracking the hard as nails female assassin Kendra while Sam and Fiona move to foil a dangerous antique thief who doesn’t hesitate to kill those who’d prevent the crime. Review: Season Four is officially in stride with a bunch of good episodes falling in a row. We’ll have to see how next week pans out as we ditch the uber hot Kendra and swap in – Burt Reynolds! So I think things are looking good, but anyway, more about this episode. Within the first few minutes I was worried – worried Jesse was going to be in the spotlight. Week after week he continues to be the weakest link in terms of acting and character. Is he a lame pencil pusher or a bad ass? Is he super slick or an idiot? Each week he seems to be wearing a different characterization. Luckily...

Burn Notice Review: "Neighborhood Watch"
This week’s installment of Burn Notice ("Neighborhood Watch") was another excellent episode, as Matt Nix continues to deliver each with terrific action, great dialogue, and awesome character interaction.

I thought Fiona’s jealousy streak at Michael flirting with the assassin Kendra was ideally played. It was not over done or under done, but just enough to get a giggle or two. As a matter of fact, two of the quotes from this week below are featured from Michael and Fiona’s banter.

Have I mentioned how much I love Madeline? Well, as mentioned previously, she reminds me so much of my own mom that episodes where her and Michael have heart touching moments I have to call my mother.

This week was no different; her discussion with Michael about bullies brought back images of my own childhood and being chase home from elementary school.

My only disappointment (and it...

'Burn Notice' recap 'Neighborhood Watch'
Catching a killer and running off drug dealers are all in a day.s work for Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donavan) and his team. Full of great one-liners and unbelievable gizmos, this week.s .Burn Notice. was another fantastic (though cheesy, but that.s why we love it, right?) episode. The tape that Michael found last week is so old that he is unable to find a player for it. While scouting out electronic shops, Michael realizes that the assassin Kendra (Navi Rawat) is following him around. He sets a trap for her, but she catches on and escapes. After an episode-long absence, the marvelous Madeline (Sharon Gless) returns this week and has a case for son Michael. A doctor is having some trouble...

Burn Notice - Episode 4.04 - Breach of Faith - Recap
So far, this season has been great. I was apprehensive at first over the addition of another team member, but Jesse has quickly proven himself worthy of working with Michael, Sam and Fiona. When we last saw our team, they were figuring out a way to sneak Jesse to the Bahamas... let's see how that worked out for them.

Spy Observation (flying over the white beaches of The Bahamas): Spies spend a lot of time traveling, but they don't usually wind up in the most desirable of destinations.

The Bahamas - A Desirable Destination

You're much more likely to find yourself visiting a rebel camp in the Philippine jungle or a hidden bunker in the mountains of Pakistan than lounging beach side in The Bahamas. But even when you do find yourself in a vacation paradise, it is still all about business.

Fiona and Jesse are at a bar...

Burn Notice - Episode 4.4 - Breach of Faith - Recap
"...until you find out who burned you, you're not going anywhere."

All four members of Team Weston are back this week, showing some serious chemistry, some laughs and a hostage situation. It's all in a days work for the best burned spy in the business.

The episode starts off with Fiona and Jesse in the Bahamas trying to get coroner information. Apparently, Jesse does a really good Jamaican accent and after some witty banter between Fiona and Jesse, they get the report and get back to Miami. It was a nice break from Miami, if only for a moment, but back to business.

Once back, Jesse and Fiona, which seem to be getting quite friendly, brief Michael on the situation, making Michael look like the odd man out, asking if he was fully briefed in the end of the conversation. It was funny, but odd for Michael to not have all the answers.

Numb3rs: Navi Rawat Says Series Finale Wasn't "Ideal"
Navi Rawat, who played Amita Ramanujan on Numb3rs, has jumped into another role on USA Networks. Starting June 24th, you'll see her playing a woman who's full of surprises for Michael (Jeffrey Donovan) on Burn Notice.

The actress recently talked to TV Guide about that part and the Numb3rs series finale. Rawat said that the last episode wasn't exactly what she'd been hoping for Amita and Charlie (David Krumholtz). "To be honest, I would have liked for them to have had a more proper wedding instead of that makeshift wedding."

Apparently the network's reduction of the show's episode order caught the cast and crew all off-guard. Rawat shared, "We were supposed to have a big wedding and Amita was supposed to get a nice promotion. It all got wrapped up too quickly. But that's what happens when a show gets cancelled."...

Navi Rawat to Portray Mystery Woman on Burn Notice
Navi Rawat - best known for her role on Numb3rs, but who will always be Ryan's high school sweetheart from The Oc to us - has landed a recurring role on Burn Notice.

The actress will portray a mysterious woman named Kendra. Look for her to appear on at least three episodes and get entangled with Jeffrey Donovan's Michael.

"My character starts out as the girl next door, but it turns out she's not at all what she appears to be," Rawat told TV Guide Magazine. "Fiona is investigating a case when she first meets my character who is involved in her neighborhood watch program. I appear to be a good, upstanding citizen, but it turns out she has ties to the underworld. She's a pretty explosive surprise."

Kendra will first show up on the June 24 episode.

If you missed last week's Season 4 premiere, you can to watch the new episode. Series creator Matt Nix recently held a conference call to discuss the new season and here's what he had to say.

How did you come up with the idea for Burn Notice?

Matt Nix: Well, I had been friends with a guy who's a consulting producer on the show now, named Michael Wilson, for some time. He had worked in the private intelligence industry. I'd sort of been kicking around ideas for something that took place in that world for some time. One of the things that stood out for me in my conversations with Michael Wilson was that he was always...

Numb3rs: TV Show Cancelled by CBS; No Season Seven
As expected, CBS has pulled the plug on their long-running drama, Numb3rs. A mainstay of the Friday night schedule, brothers Charlie and Don Eppes won't be back next fall with a seventh season.

Numb3rs revolves around an FBI agent (Rob Morrow) and his genius brother (David Krumholtz) who helps solve cases with mathematics. The cast also features Judd Hirsch (as their father), Alimi Ballard, Dylan Bruno, Navi Rawat, Aya Sumika, and Peter MacNicol.

The cancellation doesn't come as much of a surprise, especially when you look at the figures.

The ratings have dropped quite a bit in recent years. Last season fell to an average of a 2.2 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 10.2 million total viewers. This season, the ratings dropped further still, to a 1.8 rating and 8.26 million viewers. CBS cut the show's episode order...

Summer Indie Film Preview
Dennis Haskins
Yes, we're excited to see "Iron Man 2," "Inception" and God help us, "Predators." But what we're really looking forward to spending a few hours in the company of an undertaking Bill Murray ("Get Low"), an Italian-speaking Tilda Swinton ("I Am Love") and a toga-wearing Rachel Weisz ("Agora") in the comfort of air-conditioned theater over the next three months. (Either that or we'll be enjoying them from the comfort of home online, on demand or on DVD.)

There are no less than 114 independently produced movies arriving in theaters this summer to compete with the big studio blockbusters and we've compiled this helpful guide that covers all of them. Yet realizing that the latest arthouse and foreign fare is subject to changing dates, particularly if you don't live in Los Angeles or New York, we've also included links to follow the films on Twitter, Facebook and release schedules where available, so...

Numb3rs: Will the CBS Show Be Cancelled? ABC and Fox Think So!
Tonight, Numb3rs finishes off its sixth season with episode 118, "Cause and Effect." Will the show be back next season? A decision hasn't been made yet but lots of people are betting that it will be cancelled.

Numb3rs follows FBI Agent Don Eppes (Rob Morrow) and his genius brother, Charlie (David Krumholtz), who helps the authorities solve cases with mathematics. The cast also features Judd Hirsch (as their father), Alimi Ballard, Dylan Bruno, Navi Rawat, Aya Sumika, and Peter MacNicol.

The series debuted in January 2005 and has long been a successful player for CBS on Friday nights. In season one, Numb3rs averaged a 3.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and about 11.1 million viewers. They went up in season two, with an average of a 3.3 rating and 11.7 million viewers. Viewership has fallen since then however and last season, Numb3rs scored a...
