Today, AMC Networks’ Acorn TV and Channel 5 announced additional cast members and the start of production on the new murder mystery drama, Murder Before Evensong.

The six-episode drama starring Matthew Lewis is based on the first novel in the Sunday Times best-selling series by British author Reverend Richard Coles and will air later this year on Acorn TV worldwide and Channel 5 in the UK.

DJ Clark Kent, a hip-hop superproducer who worked with the likes of Jay-Z, Mariah Carey and The Notorious B.I.G., has died at 58, his family announced on social media.

A movie based on the popular gaming franchise is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios, Electronic Arts confirmed on Tuesday. “Loki” director Kate Herron will direct from a script that she co-wrote with Briony Redman. The Roots Picnic, held yearly in Philadelphia since 2008, is a special kind of music festival. The lineup this year covered a wide spectrum of hip-hop and R&b, plus country, go-go, and more, with the Roots’ own omnivorous musicality as the guiding force. Daily crowds of 30,000 made the pilgrimage to Fairmount Park to soak up the sun and sounds on June 1 and 2. There were surprise guests (Ghostface! Common! Freeway! Lloyd! Musiq Soulchild!), outstanding collaborations, a couple of disappointing no-shows (Cam’Ron, you were missed), and tons more performances across three stages.

Daniel Zirilli, a prolific director, producer and writer of action films and more than 200 music videos including the Rolling Stones’ “Voodoo Lounge,” died April 28. He was 58.

His death was announced by his family. No cause was disclosed, but an Instagram message posted by his daughter Talise Zirilli last weekend indicated that he had been missing since April 24.

Born November 13, 1965, Zirilli founded Popart Film Factory at age 24 after graduating from Pepperdine University in Malibu. In the subsequent years, he would direct and writer more than 30 feature films, most in the action and thriller genres. He was a producer on more than 85 films.

Among his most recent, Zirilli directed, produced and co-wrote Invincible, released by Lionsgate in 2022. Shot on location in Thailand, Invincible starred Johnny Strong, Marko Zaror and Michael Pare, who also appeared in Zirilli’s Hollow Point (2019) along with Luke Goss and Jay Mohr.

Doctor Who season 14 adds Loki writer Kate Herron and Briony Redman to its lineup. The Fifteenth Doctor, portrayed by Sex Education star Gatwa, will debut in the 60th anniversary special. Herron and Redman will pen an episode for Doctor Who season 14, showcasing their love for time travel storytelling.

Doctor Who season 14 adds Loki season 1 writer Kate Herron and award-winning writer Briony Redman to its lineup. The Sex Education star will portray the Fifteenth Doctor, taking on the role following David Tennant's 60th-anniversary return to the series as the cryptic Fourteenth Doctor for a three-part celebratory storyline. To round up the Doctor Who season 14 casting, Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor will be joined by new companion Ruby Sunday, portrayed by actor Millie Gibson, for a seasonal special before embarking on new adventures in 2024.

Loki director and EP Kate Herron is to co-write an upcoming episode of Doctor Who featuring Ncuti Gatwa.

Herron will write the episode with long-time collaborator Briony Redman, an actor and comedian whose work includes the Welsh crime-comedy Pont Brec with Damian Evans and award-winning short film Forget-Me-Not.

Herron is the latest big creative name to board the upcoming season from Russell T. Davies. She exec-produced and directed the entire Marvel Loki series and has also directed episodes of Sex Education, which Gatwa stars in.

Herron and Redman have collaborated on a range of work together including comic The Storkening as well as TV and film projects including the sci-fi Miss Universe and short film Smear.

Gatwa will take over as the 15th Doctor next year, following three specials in which David Tennant will return to briefly become the 14th Doctor.

“This is when I absolutely love my job,” Davies said.

It's often the case that an anime series end without a particularly conclusive ending. Sometimes it's for a simple reason, such as setting up for a new season or simply waiting for more of the source material to adapt. There are also times when this happens because of unplanned and unexpected reasons, such as studio issues. The worst, however, has to be when an anime ends on an unresolved cliffhanger.

In a best-case scenario, the anime was partly meant as promotional material for the series' source material – typically a manga, light novel, or visual novel – which will answer whatever questions fans are left with. In the worst case, the audience is just left to question and guess what could possibly happen next.

Stars Align is an original sports anime that suffers from unresolved drama. It begins with a simple premise, following a high school club under threat of disbandment due to unsatisfactory performance.

Slasher films are known for their one-liners, both the badass and the embarrassing. Dr. Loomis in the "Halloween" series, Freddy Krueger in the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" series, Ghostface in the numerous "Scream" flicks, Pinhead in the "Hellraiser" films, and just about everything Chucky has ever said throughout his franchise have all birthed quotes as memorable as the characters who say them. In the delightfully silly "Freddy vs Jason," one of the most infamous lines is not spoken by either slasher icon or even the film's final girl, but by the secondary character Kia, played by Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child.

When Kia comes face to face with Freddy Krueger, she doesn't cower in fear -- she mocks him. Freddy Krueger thrives on fear, and by choosing to humiliate him instead, she defangs him quite a bit. She spends much of the movie being mouthy to everyone anyway, so...

04 August 2023 – Joshua Redman has released “Baltimore,” the second single to be revealed from the acclaimed saxophonist’s forthcoming Blue Note debut where are we due out September 15. One of two instrumental tracks on the album, “Baltimore” was written by the classically influenced songwriter Gabriel Kahane and is given a transcendent performance by Redman’s quartet featuring pianist Aaron Parks, bassist Joe Sanders, and drummer Brian Blade.

where are we is a musical journey across the United States of America that also marks Redman’s first-ever album with a vocalist—the dynamic young singer Gabrielle Cavassa—who is featured throughout as heard on the album’s lead single “Chicago Blues,” a mash-up of Count Basie’s “Goin’ to Chicago” with Sufjan Stevens’ “Chicago.” Redman will be touring the project across the U.S. and Europe following the album’s release.
