James Wan has been an accomplished director in the horror genre for just shy of two decades. While he's directed other films outside the horror genre, most of his horror creations have become successful franchises. He began his career by co-creating and directing the movie Saw with Leigh Whannell. Wan eventually worked up to building The Conjuring Universe, which has grossed over 2 billion dollars.

Having taken the world by storm with "Saw" in 2004, Australian director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell were suddenly the hottest new act in horror. Unfortunately, three years later, the duo would suffer the dreaded "sophomore slump" with "Dead Silence," an original puppet horror film that was lambasted by critics and bombed at the box office, barely matching its $20 million budget. It's a shame, honestly. I won't deny that "Dead Silence" has its problems (which we will get into), but it's also an enthrallingly gothic tale of mystery and the macabre (one bursting with creative ideas and inventively ghastly visuals). Not to mention it functions as a useful primer for the rest of Wan and Whannell's horror oeuvre.

Yesterday HitFix Harpy took a trip to the year 2065 to visit the set of “Minority Report.” While most of what I learned there is under wraps for a few more weeks, I did stumble across something amazing. Stark Sands — who plays precog Dash — has been a busy man. If Broadway comes calling for a dystopian musical about the ethics of enslaving humans to stop murders, the Sands has the opening number ready to go! For a show about precognition, Minority Report has an impressive number of flashbacks and the second episode, "Mr. Nice Guy," begins with one. We see the three precogs back when they were still under government control. Their handler, Wally (Daniel London), is explaining to some government suit that each of the three has a distinctive personality and gift. Agatha (Laura Regan) becomes the person she predicts. As he explains, "It's like she leaves herself. Her brother's mind is an antenna, pulling in names, facts, information. And Dash can see the murders but doesn't have the information or ability to stop them." And so ends the part of the script writers refer to as "repeating the backstory for new viewers."...

Fox has tried numerous sc-fi action series in the past and most have been cancelled after one season. Undaunted, the network execs are trying again with Minority Report. Will it be a ratings success where others failed? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned!

Despite getting to say Steven Spielberg a lot, Fox’s Minority Report has its work cut out for it as a concept. Though the film was something of a success, and met with critical approval, even it struggled to work the Philip K. Dick short story into an expanded narrative.

Such is Dick’s genius really. Though not all his stories are brilliant, he was at least smart enough to know that some concepts work best if you just get in and get out. Part of the sci-fi genre’s ability is to let the reader/audience chew on an idea on their own.

Now we have to translate that into something that’s going to keep coming back every week?

That’s only going to work if you can offer up a character audiences will love, and run through the series establishment so fast it almost doesn’t seem to be happening.

Fox’s small screen slate is getting a dose of futuristic sci-fi this fall in the shape of its Minority Report reboot. The sequel series is set ten years after the events of Steven Spielberg’s 2002 movie when PreCrime is obsolete. It imagines a world where exhausted cops long for the days when three psychics in a water tank told them who to arrest. A decade later, those subaquatic Precogs no longer serve the police. Instead, law enforcement now relies on different technology to apprehend criminals.

Spielberg’s three Precogs are still involved in the series, however, living out their days in a witness protection-type deal. Dash (Stark Sands) continues to suffer from visions; his twin brother Arthur (Nick Zano) is elsewhere; and Agatha (Laura Regan) appears to have her own secretive agenda. Enter Meagan Good’s cop Lara Vega, who crosses paths with Dash and the pair team up to combat crime.

With the series premiere of Fox's Minority Report just over one month away, the network has released a new first look preview for this highly-anticipated sci-fi TV series. Stars Meagan Good (Det. One of the most intriguing upcoming new shows has to be Fox's small screen adaptation of Minority Report, so we were very interested to see what the cast and crew had to say about it at Comic-Con in San Diego earlier this month.

After screening 20 flashy minutes of the pilot - which sees precog Dash helping a detective solve crimes before they happen - stars Stark Sands, Meagan Good, Wilmer Valderrama and Laura Regan joined executive producers Kevin Falls, Darryl Frank and Max Borenstein to give us some hints about what's coming up, so read on for 8 things to expect from the show:

1. The series is all about humanising precogs.

With the 2014-2015 television season winding down, many television fans and channels are looking ahead to the new series that will make their debut over the next television season. Fox is no different, having announced their renewals, cancellations, and new series pickups over the last week, and the network has now released trailers for a number of their new series.

First up is the trailer for the new animated series Bordertown.

From Family Guy’s Mark Hentemann comes Bordertown, a new animated comedy about two families living in a Southwest desert town on the U.S. – Mexico border. The series takes a satirical look at the cultural shifts occurring in America, where the U.S. Census forecasts that by 2017, ethnic minorities will become the majority. Set against this increasingly diverse backdrop, the comedy explores family, politics and everything in between with a cross-cultural wink. Bordertown centers on two clans: the Buckwalds and the Gonzalezes.

Macabre mysteries abound on Fox. Shortly after unveiling their 2015 - 2016 lineup, Fox has released the first trailers for Lucifer, The Frankenstein Code, and Minority Report.

Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs, Fox Television Group, today unveiled the Fox primetime slate for the 2015-2016 television season to the national advertising community during its annual Programming Presentation at the Beacon Theatre. Here's what the CEO's had to say in a joint statement.

Tuesdays are all-new this fall on Fox, with new comedies Grandfathered and The Grinder, followed by killer comedy-horror series Scream Queens. The new comedies kicking off an all-new Tuesday are Grandfathered and The Grinder.

We now know when Fox is planning to bring FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully back to the small screen, as the network revealed that part one of The X-Files six-episode event series premiere will air on Sunday, January 24th.

In their 2015 - 2016 fall TV schedule announcement (which also includes information on Ryan Murphy's Scream Queens, slated to begin airing on Tuesdays this fall), Fox revealed that the return of The X-Files will take place on Sunday, January 24th, between 10:00pm - 11:00pm Est after the Nfc Championship game.

The second half of the two-part premiere will air at 8:00pm Est the following night on Monday, January 25th, with subsequent episodes also airing on Monday nights. Friday was a huge day for established, familiar properties.  ABC kicked off the morning by picking up "Uncle Buck," which was followed by Fox's order for "The Frankenstein Code" and then quickly by CBS' series orders for "Rush Hour," "Limitless" and a "Criminal Minds" spinoff. In what I'm assuming will be Friday's last piece of big, breaking news -- famous last words -- Fox has given series orders to "Minority Report" and "Lucifer," based on the hit Steven Spielberg/Tom Cruise feature and the DC/Vertigo comic title respectively.  Let's look at the details:  "Minority Report" was written by Max Borenstein and directed by Mark Mylod and features Spielberg and Amblin Television among its producers. Just hours after the female lead role in Fox's Minority Report TV series went to Meagan Good, Stark Sands has landed the male lead, playing the dual roles of precog twins Dash and Arthur. Those roles were played by Matthew Dickman and Michael Dickman in the original Minority Report movie, directed by Steven Spielberg. The story is set 10 years after the Minority Report movie, where the Precrime experiment in Washington D.C. came to an end. We recently heard that Daniel London would appear in the Minority Report series, reprising his role from the film as Wally the caretaker for the TV series set ten years after Tom Cruise brought the whole PreCrime system crashing down.

The lead role has long been listed as Detective Lara Vega, who we now know will be played by Meagan Good of Think Like A Man, Anchorman 2 and Brick. Her character is a detective who’s ‘not afraid to break a few rules.’ The action of the series will see her helping a former Precog Dash, who still needs help reintegrating into society ten years after the events of film.

Stark Sands ("Inside Llewyn Davis," "NYC 22") and Meagan Good ("Think Like a Man," "Anchorman: The Legend Continues") have scored the leading roles in Fox's TV series follow-up to the 2002 Spielberg sci-fi film "Minority Report". The series is set ten years after the end of the Precrime Division in the nation's capital.

Well, “Atlas Shrugged: Who Is John Galt?” is still an actual thing that is happening and the producers are continuing a trend that they started with the second film: bringing in an entirely new cast. For the final installment of the trilogy, John Galt will be played by Kristoffer Polaha (“Devil’s Knot”), Laura Regan (“Unbreakable,” “Mad Men”) will play Dagny Taggart, and the rest of the main cast includes Rob Morrow, Eric Allan Kramer, and Joaquim de Almeida. Production on the film has just begun and producers are hoping to release the film this upcoming September, right in time for the midterm elections. The third and final chapter in the independently-produced film trilogy based on Ayn Rand's novel "Atlas Shrugged" has gone into production, and once again all the film's cast members have changed.

Laura Regan ("Mad Men," "Unbreakable") and Rob Morrow ("Northern Exposure") take on the roles of Dagny Taggart and Hank Rearden respectively. They take over from Taylor Schilling and Grant Bowler in the first film, and Samantha Mathis and Jason Beghe in the second.

Joaquim de Almeida ("The Mentalist," "Revolution") takes over from Jsu Garcia and Esai Morales as Francisco d’Anconia, while Eric Allan Kramer has been cast as the modern-day maritime pirate Ragnar Danneskjold.

Kristoffer Polaha ("Ringer," "Devil's Knot") takes on the key role of John Galt himself in the film, the mysterious figure orchestrating a bizarre 'strike' involving the most productive members of society.

This final chapter, entitled "Atlas Shrugged: Who is John Galt?", is planned for a release in September.
