Thanksgiving fans have another thing to be grateful for this year: the original motion picture soundtrack is coming to vinyl from Waxwork Records.

Composed by Emmy winner Brandon Roberts, the score is pressed on “Pumpkin Pie & Blood Swirl” colored vinyl.

It’s housed in a heavyweight gatefold jacket featuring artwork by Steve Reeves. An 11×11 booklet with liner notes by director Eli Roth is included.

Expected to ship in February, the Thanksgiving soundtrack costs $35.

Currently on Netflix, the 2024 slasher stars Patrick Dempsey, Nell Verlaque, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Rick Hoffman, and Gina Gershon.

Roth is carving out a sequel to be released in 2025.

Bad news: Barbarian still hasn’t announced a physical media release. Good news: Waxwork Records, in partnership with Hollywood Records and Regency Enterprises, is presenting the Barbarian Original Motion Picture Music by Anna Drubich on vinyl for the first time.

The Barbarian vinyal release, pressed to 180g Mother’s Milk & Blood Splatter vinyl, with deluxe packaging and art by Steve Reeves, is available to preorder through Waxword Records and expected to ship this September.

In Barbarian, a young woman (Georgina Campbell) traveling to Detroit for a job interview books a rental home. But when she arrives late at night, she discovers that the house is double booked, and a strange man (Bill Skarsgård) is already staying there.

Home: Zak Moradi’s Story, directed by Ireland’s Trevor Whelan, follows the life of one man’s journey from childhood in a Kurdish refugee camp to Irish hurler and anti-racism activist.

The Kiss Of Death is a Nigerian film from Irish director Terry McMahon, whose credits include Patrick’s Day. It follows a man sent to northern Nigeria to teach, who discovers the cultural differences may cost him his life.

Sylvester Stallone says screening the 1958 Hollywood adventure fantasy flick Hercules, starring Steve Reeves, changed his life when he was 12 years of age.

“I was very lucky, in the golden age of films, when dialogue was important. But the dialogue didn’t move me as much as the actual physical embodiment of overcoming odds,” Stallone said of movies that tap into ancient mythology during an in-conversation appearance at the Toronto Film Festival on Friday afternoon.

He was also influenced by comic books when conjuring up action hero fantasies in his head. “Coming to the rescue, not so much as a superhero, just as a guy who was forced to,” Stallone said of early artistic inspirations.

Warner Bros. Japan issued a statement on Monday criticizing its parent U.S. studio’s “extremely regrettable” decision to promote a “Barbenheimer” fan image that show the Barbie character having the time of her life in front of a massive fireball while hoisted on the shoulder of Cillian Murphy’s J. Robert Oppenheimer.

The statement shared to Twitter read, “We consider it extremely regrettable that the official account of the American headquarters for the movie ‘Barbie’ reacted to the social media postings of ‘Barbenheimer’ fans. … We take this situation very seriously. We are asking the U.S. headquarters to take appropriate action. We apologize to those who were offended by this series of inconsiderate reactions. Warner Bros Japan.”

Italy’s Cineteca di Bologna film archives have unearthed a small treasure trove of shorts documenting the early career of late icon Gina Lollobrigida, who was hailed as a major European sex symbol of the post-World War II era.

The prominent archives, known globally as a prime film preservation entity, have found and restored three vintage clips dated between 1947 and 1948 in which Lollobrigida – who died at 95 in January – sings Italian folk songs billed under the name Diana Lori.

Described by the archives as precursors to MTV-style music videos, the shorts were directed by Pietro Francisci, later known for hit swords-and-sandals titles such as 1958’s “Hercules” starring Steve Reeves as its titular hero. In the shorts Lollobrigida appears to sing (she may have been dubbed) Italian folk songs “O sole mio!”; “Na sera ‘e maggio”; and “Stornellata Romana.”

The latest issue of "Cinema Retro" is out and what do I see, but an article about films that are dear to my heart. As a child of the Sixties, the sword and sandal movies (aka peplum) meant a lot to me. Specifically the films of Hercules, himself; none other than Steve Reeves. Interestingly enough, while these movies were made to get people out of their houses and into the theatres, here in the Us in the early Sixties they made a bigger splash when they were released to television. I was a little too young to see Steve Reeves’ "Hercules" when it was released in theatres, but when it was released to TV; that's when the avalanche began. For those of us watching the boob tube in the early Sixties, Hercules and his brethren were our heroes.

There can be few directors who understood the power of great scenes quite as strongly as Leone, the director of the Dollars trilogy and de facto godfather of the spaghetti western.

Some might argue his emphasis on great individual moments was to his detriment, as the MacGuffin-laden plots of his films seem to exist mainly as devices on which he can hang his elaborate setpieces, and were subsequently labeled as exercises in pure style. I come to praise Sword & Sandal movies -- not to bury them. But with Wrath of the Titans and the Sword & Sandal/sci-fi mash-up John Carter not exactly setting the world on fire -- along with recent disappointments like Immortals and Conan -- it's getting more difficult by the day to believe that the Sword & Sandal movie can survive the recent fumbling of this otherwise great genre. And that's a shame, because the Sword & Sandal movie -- known for its gladiatorial games, pagan orgies, depraved emperors, and the occasional snarling cyclops -- may represent the most colorful and enduring movie genre of all time. So for the uninitiated, what exactly is a Sword & Sandal movie? Like its cousin the Biblical epic, a Sword & Sandal movie -- or 'peplum,' named after a type of ancient Greek garment -- is typically set in the ancient Mediterranean world, and dramatizes the fight for freedom.

Let's not kid ourselves here. While the ancient Greek or Roman epic certainly has literary and cultural value, we also know that films and television shows based on Greek or Roman history and myth also have a side-benefit: a little something I like to call the loincloth.

In 1970, the Vietnam War had already dragged on for nearly a decade. Filmmakers, like society in general, were making their opinions about the war known. The great anti-war films M*A*S*H and Catch 22 were released that year and, though not set in Vietnam, made bold satirical use of past wars to make their points. However, that same year brought us another anti-war film somewhat overshadowed by those two classics, Hornet’S Nest, starring none other than Rock Hudson. Like some surrealistic cross between John Wayne’s The Cowboys and the original Inglorious Bastards (both of which it predated), Hornet’S Nest is notable for several reasons: it was the final Hollywood film of European screen star Sylva Koscina, it was one of director Phil Karlson’s last movies, and it was the film debut of Hudson’s trademark mustache! However, it is Not notable for being on DVD.

Warner Brothers is set to “release the kraken” this Friday, April 2… so, Wamg is set to release the Movie Geeks, wielding their swords of cinematic heroism to establish the most epic Top Ten list of Mythological Masterpieces… ever! This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is devoted to the great Greek mythological stories of heroes, gods and monsters.

10. Hercules (1997)

You know why this movie is on this list? It’s not because it was Disney’s last, great, hand-drawn, animated film of the ’90s. It wasn’t. The film’s not great, but you have to hand it to whatever genius decided the perfect voice for Hades, the Lord of the Underworld, would be James Woods. Best. Voice casting. Ever. Rip Torn voicing Zeus? Another stroke of genius. This was also probably the first time many kids born in the early ’90s became privy to the voice of Charlton Heston, who does the narration.

Back in the halcyon days of NBC's Bob Hope TV specials, the comedy legend would march out a list of the most bizarrely unrelated pseudo celebrities you could imagine.

You'd hear something like, "Join me this Sunday on NBC for 'Bob Hope's All-Star Salute to Existence' with great stars like Loni Anderson, Pink Lady and Jeff, the Upi All-American Football Team, Billy Carter, Steve Reeves and Brooke Shields!"

It looks like World Wrestling Entertainment is shooting for something equally bizarre with its list of upcoming Monday Night Raw guest hosts. From the sublime to the ridiculous, the Italian genre films from the 1960s through the 1970s still remain the gold standard, the Golden Age, the yardstick to measure bigger-than-life greatness in low budget international cult cinema. Rivaled only by the Japanese in the same time period for sheer jaw-dropping wildness, the Italian moviemakers toiled in the salt mines of debased genres - giallo (sexy suspense) thrillers, sword and sandal adventures, spaghetti sagebrush sagas, gothic horror, nunsploitation and, last but not least, polizioteschi or the action-packed crime film. That said, before delving further back in time, the American Cinematheque in L.A. is kicking off a "Grindhouse" film series with a double bill from the 1980s-'90s - Dario Argento's "Opera" and Michele Soavi's "Cemetery Man" July 9. Also screening are two sexy jet-set, giallo mindbenders with Carroll Baker (Paranoia and A Quiet Place To Kill); a peplum double bill...

Russian action star-producer Alexander Nevsky is laboring to launch "Hercules: The Beginning." Nevsky's Hollywood Storm will produce the feature on a $12 million budget.

In a move reminiscent of Arnold Schwarzenegger's role as mythical strongman Conan the Barbarian, Nevsky will play the classic Roman hero adopted from Greek legend (where he's called Heracles).

An oft-used hero of film and TV, Hercules also will star in a competing feature project that Millennium Films is developing.

Tate Donovan voiced the hero in the animated 1997 Disney feature, and Lou Ferrigno and Steve Reeves played Hercules in live-action film versions over the decades. Universal TV also produced a popular series in the '90s starring Kevin Sorbo.

Nevsky is a bodybuilder, author and movie star in his native Russia and has spent the past decade making his way in Los Angeles as a writer, producer and actor. Hollywood Storm just wrapped the thriller "Magic Man." "Treasure Raiders," his previous film, will get a stateside release through Maverick Entertainment.
