Dan Resin

Actor Dan Resin (Aka "The Ty-d-bol Man") Dead At Age 79
Resin (second from right) with Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield and Ted Knight in the hit 1979 comedy Caddyshack.

American baby boomers are mourning the death of 79 year old actor Dan Resin, who is better known as the Ty-d-Bol Man in a series of vintage TV commercials for a toilet cleaner. In the absurd, but iconic spots, Resin portrayed a man who lived inside your toilet tank and dispensed information about the effectiveness of Ty-d-Bol in removing bothersome stains. Resin also appeared in feature films, most notably Caddyshack as Dr. Beeper. Despite his affiliation with Ty-d-Bol, he did not live in Flushing, New York! Caddyshack Clubber, TV's Ty-d-Bol Man Dies
Dan Resin was every woman's fantasy. As the charming face of cleanser maker Ty-d-Bol, he was an actual gentleman—a yachtsman, even!—who seemed to care how clean the toilet bowl was. Sigh. The actor, who was born Daniel Wrzesien before tweaking his last name for Hollywood and Broadway purposes, died Saturday due to complications of Parkinson's disease. He was 79. Resin also parlayed his aristocratic persona into a memorable role as the pretentious Dr. Beeper in Caddyshack opposite the likes of Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Rodney Dangerfield and Ted Knight. Additionally, he was a member of the original casts of Once Upon a Mattress and My Fair Lady.
