Dispatches From The Picket Lines – “We Are Here With You ’Til The Very End,” Writers Tell Actors At Aapi-Themed Rally In Manhattan

This is Day 78 of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

It was everything everywhere all at once Thursday in New York City: Striking actors getting ready for contract talks were joined by writers who have just wrapped up theirs at a rally in Manhattan that also highlighted Asian American Pacific Islander culture in film and television.

On the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrated by Asian communities worldwide, about 200 people gathered outside the Manhattan offices of Warner Bros. Discovery for pickets and speeches that marked the official end of one strike against the major studios and the continuation of another whose end might be in sight.

Speakers including Joel de la Fuente of Hemlock Grove, Perry Yung of The Knick, Celia Au of Wu Assassins and Ivory Aquino of When We Rise hailed the growing visibility of Asian-Americans onscreen and said that their strike demands — including sustainable wages and limits on the use...

Quiver Distribution's newest horror flick Follow Her is now in limited theaters and can be found on VOD outlets. The movie follows a livestreamer who thinks she's found the answer to her financial troubles when a screenwriter presents her with a lucrative offer, but there's a bigger price to pay than what she initially realizes. You can get a glimpse into this story by watching the official trailer below.

Follow Her is directed by Sylvia Caminer, a two-time Emmy Award winner. Luke Geissbuhler shot the movie. It is produced by Caminer, Michael Indjeian, and Sibyl Santiago. John Gallagher co-executive produced. It is written by Dani Barker (The Unprofessionals) who stars in the movie alongside Luke Cook (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Mark Moses (Mad Men), and Eliana Jones (Night Hunter).

– Frameline, the world’s longest-running and largest showcase of queer cinema, is pleased to announce that Frameline41, the San Francisco International Lgbtq Film Festival, will take place June 15-25, 2017 in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Festival celebrates the spectrum and intersection of identities that make up the worldwide Lgbtq community.

With an expected attendance of 65,000 at its five venues, including a full week of programming in the East Bay, Frameline41 will draw film lovers, media artists, and Lgbtq communities from across the globe to discover the best in queer cinema among its 147 films. More than 19 countries will be represented, including Armenia, Cuba, Mexico, Philippines, South Africa, Taiwan, and Vietnam. The 2017 slate proudly comprises 40 percent of films from women directors.
