Children's TV shows of the 1990s weren't afraid to get quite scary and intense, with many standout episodes of beloved series leaving a lasting impression in the form of nightmares. The 90s were quite an interesting time for children's media, with loosened restrictions on what networks could get away with leading to some very experimental episodes of TV. While modern kids' shows can be quite scary, the childhoods of millennials are filled with particularly horrifying TV scenes that still cause bad dreams even today.
Interestingly enough, it wasn't strictly the explicitly horror-themed series that got quite terrifying in the 90s. Horror anthology TV shows made for kids like Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark? may have seen an increase in popularity this decade, but standard children's fare like cartoons or tween dramas could get just as frightening. The 90s truly held nothing back when it came to the...

Being a "Star Trek" fan is a full-time job unlike any other. While normal people would find hundreds of hours of material a daunting prospect, the average Trekkie has been dutifully conditioned to say things like, "Don't worry, this overall mediocre show finally gets good in season 4" or staunchly defend some of the absolute weirdest and most out-there concepts ever produced in live action.
"Star Trek: Voyager" had plenty of highlights and lowlights in that regard, from that time Captain Katherine Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) and Lieutenant Tom Paris (Robert Duncan McNeill) hooked up with each other after devolving into lizards -- yes, this really happened -- to the horrifying legacy of "Tuvix." But none of it would've been possible had Paramount Television failed to support the production that would become "Voyager" back in its earliest conception. While "Deep Space Nine" gets all the credit for radically reinventing the very idea of what "Trek" could be,...

Star Trek: Voyager originally had a plan to leave the Delta Quadrant, but it was scrapped in season 2. The show took a risk by making the "lost in space" concept its premise, but it paid off by expanding the Star Trek mythos. Season 2 of Voyager was the worst season, but getting rid of the plan to return home opened the door to more interesting storylines.
Star Trek: Voyager originally had a "Get out of the Delta Quadrant" plan, but scrapped it at the beginning of season 2. While Voyager's sister show, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, expanded the franchise as far as the Gamma Quadrant, Voyager took things a step further when the ship was thrown 70,000 lightyears across space to the uncharted Delta Quadrant. After a plan to have the entity that brought them there send them home failed, Voyager's cast of characters was stuck on the other side of the...

Gary Graham describes a tense and unpleasant working environment on the set of Star Trek: Voyager. Graham's experience contradicts the reputation of Voyager's set, which is not known for being tense. This dissenting opinion adds an interesting nuance to the series' lore and sheds light on the dynamics of the cast and crew.
Gary Graham had a challenging experience guest starring on Star Trek: Voyager season 2. Graham played Tanis, an Ocampan whom the USS Voyager's crew encountered in season 2, episode 10, "Cold Fire." Tanis was part of a group of Ocampa who had left their home planet with a female Nacene named Suspiria (Lindsay Ridgeway), a member of the species that the Caretaker (Basil Langton) was part of. Voyager's cast of characters had been searching for Suspiria as a means to get home since the Caretaker had died before he could send them back to the Alpha Quadrant in the pilot.

Gary Graham had a prominent role as Detective Matthew Sikes in the sci-fi crime series Alien Nation, which also addressed social issues in a science fiction setting. Although Gary Graham was considered for the roles of Janeway and Sisko in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager, he ultimately played the Vulcan Ambassador Soval in Star Trek: Enterprise. Graham's involvement in Star Trek extended to fan films, where he portrayed his characters such as Soval and Ragnar, receiving positive feedback from fans.
The late Gary Graham is best known for his role as Ambassador Soval in Star Trek: Enterprise, but the actor's franchise connections go much further than the stoic Vulcan. Gary Graham's breakthrough role was Detective Matthew Sikes in the sci-fi crime series Alien Nation, and its subsequent TV movies. Like Star Trek, Alien Nation viewed contemporary issues like social injustice and racism through a science fiction lens.

On the morning of January 23, 2024, actor Gary Graham, star of the "Alien Nation" TV series, the cult classic "Robot Jox," and multiple-time "Star Trek" supporting player, passed away at the age of 74. Graham had a prolific acting career, appearing in single episodes of many of the hottest TV shows of his day, including "Starsky & Hutch," "The Incredible Hulk," Knots Landing," "CHiPs," "T.J. Hooker," "Hunter," "M.A.N.T.I.S.," "Diagnosis Murder," "Ally McBeal," "Jag," and "Nip/Tuck." He had an easy demeanor, allowing him to play comedic affable characters just as well as intense, serious ones.
Trekkies likely know Graham best for playing Soval on "Star Trek: Enterprise." The ’90s were a hell of a time to be a teen watching television. Steve Urkle terrorized the Winslows with his hormones and buffoonery, Zack Morris, an unchecked sociopath, ruled the halls of Bayside High, and the cast of Boy Meets World dabbled in matters of the heart, disturbing societal norms, and the multitude of ways to conduct a proper Feeny call. Unafraid to tackle harsh topics like child abuse, abandonment, and racism, people identified with the Boy Meets World cast, teens and parents included.
Initially airing on ABC from 1993 to 2000, Boy Meets World starred Ben Savage as Cory Matthews, Will Friedle as Eric Matthews, Rider Strong as Shawn Hunter, Danielle Fishel as Topanga Lawrence, William Daniels as the wisened George Feeny, Trina McGee-Davis as Angela Moore, William Russ as Alan Matthews, Betsy Randle as Amy Matthews, with Lily Nicksay and Lindsay Ridgeway as Morgan Matthews.

The cast of “Boy Meets World” continues to take fans behind the scenes. During Tuesday’s episode of the “Pod Meets World,” hosts Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle and Rider Strong were joined by William “Rusty” Russ, who portrayed Alan Matthews on the ABC sitcom.
During the discussion, the group spoke about the Morgan character, who was originally portrayed by Lily Nicksay for the first two seasons. Morgan was missing in Season 3 until episode 14 when Lindsay Ridgeway appeared as the new Morgan.
“I think there was some issues that had to do with growing up,” Russ said of the recasting. “I’m not sure she was very happy at the time and [creator] Michael Jacobs, to his credit, could see that. He decided what was best personally for her was to let her try something else, go somewhere else.”

Actors leave their shows for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes they have another role they want to pursue. Sometimes it is about the show; actors do not always like the roles they play or the people they work with.
Sometimes they leave for personal reasons such as to be with their families. And sometimes, as with the recently late and great Luke Perry, they leave the show because they have left this world behind.

But the show must go on. When an actor wants or needs to leave a show, the writers have to cook up a reason for their departure. They might kill the character off, have the character move away, or they might simply replace the actor.
Seeing a new actor playing a beloved role can be unsettling but also intriguing.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains details of tonight’s Girl Meets World finale.
Girl Meets World — a sequel to ABC’s popular sitcom Boy Meets World — ended its run on Disney Channel tonight with an episode that felt like a series finale and was titled like one too, “Girl Meets Goodbye”.
The “goodbye” part was given a different connotation when the show’s penultimate Season 3 episode last week dropped the bombshell that Topanga Matthews (Danielle Fishel) had received a job offer and was considering moving the family to London. After a lot of soul-searching and counsel by family members, with a slew of Boy Meets World alums making an appearance, she opted to stay, calling Topanga’s coffee house her “bay window.”
