Exclusive: Production has wrapped on Bring the Law, an action-thriller that marks the directorial debut of actress Scout Taylor Compton (2007’s Halloween).

The film, hailing from Hillin Entertainment and produced by Daemon Hillin and Carolina Brasil, stars Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler), Peter Facinelli (Twilight), Nicky Whelan (The Flood), Danielle Harris (Halloween), Brendan Fehr (Roswell), and Leah Pipes (The Originals).

The Daily Jaws reported that Dreyfuss is set to appear in the upcoming movie Into the Deep. Expected to be released sometime in 2024, the film is directed by Christian Sesma. Chad Law and Josh Ridgway wrote the screenplay. Scout Taylor-Compton, who played Laurie Strode in Rob Zombie's Halloween films, will co-star with Dreyfuss and Stuart Townsend (Queen of the Damned).

Director Brandon Slagle is known for his fun, quick, in-and-out style and prolific indie filmography. While no film production is easy, he arguably met his greatest challenge with the new alligator thriller, The Flood. Starring Nicky Whelan and Casper Van Dien among others, The Flood centers on a Louisiana prison being battered by a hurricane; the flooding gets so bad that a congregation of alligators makes their way into the prison, and soon inmates and guards must work together to survive.

Borrowing a page from 2019’s Crawl, The Flood aims to escalate the thrills by pitting man-eating alligators against cops and prisoners in a flooded Louisiana jail amidst a raging hurricane. It’s a high concept scenario that lends itself well to action-horror thrills and B-movie fun. The Flood doesn’t quite follow through on execution, though. It’s not the rough effects that sink The Flood, but an overly convoluted plot that bogs down the runtime.

Louisiana sheriff Jo Newman (Nicky Whelan) already has enough on her plate, trying to corral her officers into preparing the leaking police station from further storm damage during a ferocious hurricane. Then she receives a phone call announcing the unexpected arrival of a prison transport bus in dire need of temporary shelter for the night. The Flood opens with Sommer and Clarence taking refuge from Hurricane Clarence in an empty building. That might protect them from the rain, but as they find out, the weather isn’t the worst thing about the storm.

The storm also causes a bus transferring a group of dangerous criminals, Big Jim, Floyd, Jox, Angelo and Russel Cody to take refuge for the night in a decrepit small town jail run by Sheriff Jo Newman.

Literally. “When I read the script for The Flood, they said it’s Con Air meets Anaconda, but with alligators, so I was like, ‘Oh, that sounds cool.’” In fact, The Flood is cool. As for the plot, after a devastating hurricane floods Louisiana, it unleashes a deadly threat. Rlje Films will release the action film, Section 8, on DVD and Blu-ray on November 15, 2022.

“Section 8” has been acquired by AMC+ and Rlje Films, two business units of AMC Networks. The action film will debut in theaters and will start streaming on AMC+ on Sept. 23.

Mickey Rourke is joining the cast of action movie “Section Eight.” Sales agent The Exchange is introducing the movie to international buyers during the virtual American Film Market, which wraps Friday.

The cast also includes actors Dolph Lundgren, Scott Adkins, Ryan Kwanten, Dermot Mulroney, and Blue October’s lead singer Justin Furstenfeld, as previously announced.

The movie is the story of a former soldier who, after avenging the murder of his family, is sprung from prison and recruited by a shadowy government agency.

It will be directed by Christian Sesma, working from an original screenplay by Chad Law and Josh Ridgway. It is produced by Brandon Burrows of Firebrand.

International sales agency Bleiberg Entertainment is representing Shogun Films’ action revenge movie “Renegades” and will introduce it to buyers at the online American Film Market (Nov. 1-5).

Directed by action movie veteran Daniel Zirilli, the film recently wrapped in London and stars Nick Moran (“Avengement”), Lee Majors (“The Fall Guy”), Danny Trejo (“Machete”), Louis Mandylor (“Debt Collectors”) and Ian Ogilvy (“We Still Kill The Old Way”).

“Renegades” follows a group of Special Forces veterans who come together to avenge a fallen comrade – a former green beret, who is murdered in London by a ruthless drugs gang.

The cast also includes Patsy Kensit (“Lethal Weapon 2”), Billy Murray (“Rise of the Footsoldier”), Jeanine Nerissa Sothcott (“Nemesis”), Michael Paré (“Hollow Point”) Paul Barber (“The Full Monty”), Stephanie Beacham (“Dynasty”) and — in one of his last roles — Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister (“The Fifth Element”).

As UK independent production Miss Willoughby and the Haunted Bookshop wrapped shoot this week, the film’s co-star Kelsey Grammer offered some thoughts to stateside actors.

“Although Covid presented a new set of challenges, we were able to work very effectively through new standards of film production,” the Frasier alum said today. “I would urge my family of actors at SAG-AFTRA to take a page out of the British playbook; we can responsibly get back to work.”

Grammer stars with Brit actress Nathalie Cox (Kingdom of Heaven) in the family-adventure, which follows the escapades of history professor, detective and adventurer Elizabeth Willoughby, who investigates a series of hauntings at an antique bookshop. Grammer plays a retired U.S. Marine who raised the orphaned Willoughby and runs the family business.

The film began shooting four weeks ago in York and observed health guidelines to ensure the safety of cast and crew during the ongoing virus crisis. A Covid-19 supervisor was on set to ensure government-sanctioned guidelines were met.

It marks one of the first independent features to shoot in the UK following a total shutdown of production in mid-March as a result of the pandemic.
