Hugh Jackman's "Oklahoma!"
Actor Hugh Jackman, aka Marvel's 'Wolverine' is the star of a restored live recording of the original 1998 stage musical "Oklahoma!", a 'dark-themed' production presented by the National Theatre in London at the Olivier Theatre, directed by Trevor Nunn, choreographed by Susan Stroman and orchestrated by William David Brohn, now scheduled for a limited, theatrical re-release July 16 and 19, 2023 in over 800 theaters worldwide:

"....Oklahoma! the musical was based on "Green Grow the Lilacs", a 1931 play by Lynn Riggs. The music was composed by Richard Rodgers. The lyrics were written by Oscar Hammerstein. 

"In Oklahoma Territory outside the town of Claremore in 1906., the cowboy 'Curly McLain' (Jackman) is in love with farm girl 'Laurey Williams.'  But Laurey makes her choice, and 'Jud Fry', a farm hand, is also in love with Laurey.

And Curly will have none of it..."

‘Oklahoma!’ Being Adapted For TV; John Lee Hancock & Bekah Brunstetter To Write After Skydance Partners With Rodgers & Hammerstein
Hit Broadway musical Oklahoma! is coming to television for the first time after Jack Ryan producer Skydance Television partnered with The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization and music firm Concord. The Blind Side’s John Lee Hancock and This Is Us’ Bekah Brunstetter are writing the present-day adaptation.

The series will be set in America’s heartland and include music by the legendary team of Rodgers & Hammerstein as well new tunes as it is reimagined for a contemporary audience.

It marks the first small screen adaptation of the musical, which was originally written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II and based on Lynn Riggs’ 1931 play, Green Grow the Lilacs. The original Broadway production opened in 1943 and ran for over 2,200 performances. It was previously adapted into a feature film starring Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones in 1955.

‘Oklahoma!’ TV Adaptation Set at Skydance in Deal With Rodgers & Hammerstein
“Oklahoma!” is moving from the Broadway stage to the small screen.

Skydance Television has cut a deal with the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization and Concord to create a modern-day adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. The series will be written by John Lee Hancock and Bekah Brunstetter. The TV production will include music by Rodgers & Hammerstein reimagined for a contemporary audience, in addition to new music to support the story.

Hancock will also direct the first episode and serve as executive producer of the series alongside Brunstetter and fellow executive producers Ted Chapin of The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, Sophia Dilley of Concord, and David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross of Skydance Television. Bill Bost, senior vice president of television will oversee the project for Skydance.
