If you’re a Gen X or “geriatric” millennial Star Wars fanatic, you probably have a story related to the contortions you had to go through to get your hands on the notorious only-aired-once 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special.

Freshman year. My college roommate Andrew brought back a bootleg tape — there has never been a legitimate release — given to him by a guy who knew a guy at his regular comic shop. We watched with breathless anticipation that turned to quizzical horror — a generational rite of passage.

This is such a charming, quirky, warmhearted creepy movie.

The Oscar screenplays are continuing to arrive and today I've added four more to the list as Focus offers up Hyde Park on Hudson and Promised Land and Walt Disney Pictures has made available the screenplays for Frankenweenie and Wreck-It Ralph. The screenplay for Hyde Park on Hudson was written by Richard Nelson and if you're interested you can scroll to Page 14 and find the one scene in the film that everyone will surely be talking about after seeing the film. As for Promised Land, I watched it a couple nights ago and it's a decent film, written by Matt Damon and John Krasinski. A feature-length, black and white 3-D animated expansion of his original black and white live action short film, Frankenweenie is an amazing technical achievement by Tim Burton. The film looks fantastic and for once the 3-D isn’t just an excuse for Hollywood to dip their sticky fingers into your wallet. Rather than constantly thrusting objects into into your face like most 3-D horror films, Burton uses the technology to create a film environment to draw in the audience, apparently taking his cue from Henry Selick’s immersive animated masterpiece Coraline. Characters are blocked like in a theatre piece, moving from upstage to downstage as necessary. Tim Burton's Frankenweenie is almost out in theaters (this week Oct. 5th to be exact), and Disney isn't skimping out on the marketing. Today they've released six new posters in the retro horror movie style and personally, I think they're some of the coolest I've seen in a while.

Movie posters these days seem less of an art form, as they used to be, and more of a science. Advertising companies that come up with them stick to established styles and themes, rarely branching off into something new and different. Frankly, that kind of sucks. So when Disney sent me an email this morning about six new Frankenweenie posters, I wasn't all that thrilled...until I looked at them.

Sure they aren't too outside the norm of what's being done today, but they are different, and emulate an older style of movie posters that collectors get all excited about.

Watch these new clips from the upcoming Frankenweenie. They’ll leave you cackling like Dracula’s minion Renfield. For the die-hard Movie Geeks, many of you will recognize the classic horror films which inspired several of the character names such as Victor Frankenstein, Elsa Van Helsing, Mayor Burgemeister, and Edgar .E.
