    • Allen Rivkin was born on November 20, 1903 in Hayward, Wisconsin, USA. He was a writer and producer, known for The Devil Is Driving (1932), Tension (1949) and The Farmer's Daughter (1947). He was married to Ruth Kronick and Laura Kerr. He died on February 17, 1990 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

  • Married to Laura Kerr, with whom he collaborated on several screenplays, including The Farmer's Daughter (1947), which Loretta Young won the Best Actress Oscar for 1947.
  • Studied journalism at the University of Minnesota and briefly worked as a reporter. Began in Hollywood as a studio electrician, before later working as a publicist for RKO. Worked under contract as a screenwriter for 20th Century Fox from 1935 to 1939, and at MGM from 1949 to 1953. Co-founder of the Screenwriter's Guild.
  • Rivkin was one of the first board members of the Screenwriters Guild (which later became the Writers Guild of America). In 1963 he left screenwriting and became director of publicity for the Writers Guild, and he founded and edited its newsletter.
  • Served as director of public relations for the Screen Writer's Guild from 1963 to 1986.
