The Sylvester Stallone disaster movie, Daylight, gets a new 4K Blu-ray release from Kino Lorber
Image
The 1996 disaster movie, Daylight, will soon be coming to your home in crisp ultra high-definition picture. Blu-ray.com has recently reported that the Sylvester Stallone film from Rob Cohen, who directed Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story and The Fast and the Furious, will be getting a new 4K remastered physical media release from the Kino Lorber distributor. In addition to Stallone, the movie co-starred Amy Brenneman, Viggo Mortensen, Dan Hedaya, and Jay O. Sanders. This new ultra-hd version is expected to hit retailers next year on March 11.

Daylight is not particularly well regarded by Stallone fans, and it had the misfortune of coming out just as disaster movies were bombing left and right. It grossed an abysmal $33 million domestically, which seriously hurt Sly’s career, even though it did well enough overseas that it likely broke even by the time it hit home video. It was meant to be the...

Eddie Murphy at an event for Good Luck Chuck (2007)
On Wednesday, The Lone Ranger received multiple Razzie nominations, including the notorious Worst Picture nod. The next day, The Lone Ranger was nominated for an Oscar, for best makeup.

This isn’t the first movie to get nods from both ends of the spectrum. Since the Razzies first began back in 1981, 47 movies have been nominated for both “awards”– some even for the same exact person or song. Here’s a look at the club The Lone Ranger just joined:

The Competition

Oscar nods: Film editing, music (original song) for “People Alone” with music by Lalo Schifrin and lyrics by Wilbur...

Liza Minnelli
Out of studio tapes of Liza Minnelli set for release
Liza Minnelli
New York, Sept 20 – When singer Liza Minnelli decided to pop over to her neighbour’s house late one night a decade ago, little did she know that the songs she sang in his living room would one day be released.

Minnelli, 64, had showed up at Bruce Roberts’ Beverly Hills house wanting to sing.

“I just feel like singing,” the New York Post quoted her as having said then.

While she relaxed on a couch and sang 20 old standards, with Billy Stritch playing the keyboard, Roberts tape-recorded the session.
