Twin Peaks was definitely an iconic horror-related television series, and its legacy lives on 35 years after it made its debut on ABC. It had a unique blend of horror, comedy, mystery, drama and surrealism that captivated audiences, and the two-hour pilot episode became the highest-rated movie for televisions 1989-1990 season, but was sadly cancelled after its second season.
The series began with the discovery of a young woman’s body washed up on the bank of a river in the small town of Twin Peaks, Washington. When the body turns out to be that of prom queen Laura Palmer, everyone is shocked and saddened, because she was known to be kind, even delivering meals to the homebound.
Special FBI Agent Dale Cooper comes to town to investigate, suspecting that Laura’s killer may have also been responsible for murdering another young woman a year earlier. As Coop gets to know...

Ever since actor Michael Cera broke out in 2007's "Superbad," there's been a delightful tension surrounding his screen persona: Is this guy a huge dork, a super chill cool dude, or somehow both? Of course, the latter choice is the answer, but that hasn't stopped Cera from leaning into his more mercurial, enigmatic qualities as a performer. From the bumbling awkwardness of George Michael Bluth in "Arrested Development" to the titular kung-fu fighting hipster hero of "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" to perfectly encapsulating the offbeat qualities of Allan in "Barbie," Cera has demonstrated many times over that he understands the irony inherent in his persona. This has led to more deliberate and pointed depictions of that irony, such as playing an unhinged version of himself in "This Is the End," and a dual role in "Youth in Revolt," where Cera's shy character creates an outgoing, "cool" alter ego.

David Lynch, Kyle MacLachlan, Mark Frost, Kimmy Robertson, Grace Zabriskie, Robert Schenkkan, Lisa Loomer, Bill Rauch, Michael Horse, Dana Ashbrook, and Mindy Alper are among the interview subjects.
Shortly after the return of “Twin Peaks” was announced, Catherine learned she had terminal cancer. Not wanting to disappoint Lynch, her fans, and her castmates, Catherine struggled to live long enough to play the part of the Log Lady one more time before her own death days later.
The doc explores her personal journey, career, and the deep connection she shared with her most famous character. The Log Lady was a beloved part of “Twin Peaks.” But Catherine Coulson was much more than that. She was a fan favorite who made time to speak with series enthusiasts and helped perpetuate its lore, as well as a longtime actor with Ashland’s Oregon Shakespeare Festival and a camera assistant who pulled focus for David Lynch, John Cassavetes and Albert Brooks.
Coulson made “everyone who was close to her feel like they were her best friend,” says Richard Green, director of “I Know Catherine, The Log Lady,” a feature-length documentary that screens at Ojai’s Playhouse Theatre Saturday with a Q&a from “Twin Peaks” co-creator Mark Frost.

The iconic Hollywood filmmaker David Lynch, who died earlier this month, will be honored with an award that will recognize his long career. The Blue Velvet writer/director will posthumously receive the 2025 Writer’s Guild of America West’s Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement.

The voice of Milhouse is leaving after season 35 of "The Simpsons." Pamela Hayden has been a part of the long-running series since the first season aired back in 1989 and also voices Jimbo Jones, Rod (and sometimes Todd) Flanders, and Chief Wiggum's wife Sarah. Now, however, fans of Milhouse will surely be feeling conflicted about one of the show's best characters being voiced by another actor.
Rather than dwell upon what is truly the end of an era for "The Simpsons," however, why not celebrate the legacy of Hayden's Milhouse? The boy whose mom says he's cool; who knows far too much about the various types of sprinklers; who's had his picture on "America's Most Wanted" and was subsequently hunted by the FBI before jumping from a dam to what would have been certain death (he only broke his glasses), has been provided some of the best moments in the show's long history.

Sci-fi is always evolving as a genre, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun to look back on the best of what sci-fi TV shows had to offer over the years. The 1990s were a standout decade for film and television, and as visual effects improved and the interest in speculative fiction grew stronger, there was plenty of opportunity for TV series to capitalize on this momentum. There is a style that's unique to sci-fi shows that came out during the '90s, and revisiting older TV shows can be a fun place to see how visuals have changed since then.
However, many of these hold up well today because of their storytelling and character-driven narratives. The '90s saw more prestige television and serialized narratives hitting the screen, and this impacted every genre. Every time period has a different focus within the speculative fiction genre, as the progression of...

Spoilers are ahead for I Saw the TV Glow's ending.
I Saw the TV Glow and Twin Peaks share themes and plot ideas, especially when it comes to shared identities, doubles, and doppelgngers. The film pays homage to Twin Peaks with references to characters like Maddy or locations like the Roadhouse. With an atmosphere of menace and a reliance on the blurring of the real and unreal, I Saw the TV Glow feels connected to Twin Peaks.
When conceiving their second feature-length film, writer-director Jane Schoenbrun drew on '90s cult classics for inspiration. While I Saw the TV Glow pulls from young-adult television hits like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Are You Afraid of the Dark?, the filmmaker has cited David Lynch's Twin Peaks as a huge influence. From I Saw the TV Glow's eerie soundtrack and its more surreal storytelling elements to the atmospheric menace that permeates the film's suburban setting,...

Dale Cooper actor Kyle MacLachlan shuts down idea of another Twin Peaks reboot. MacLachlan feels too many TV shows and movies are remade. The star doesn't think anyone should attempt to revisit Twin Peaks again.
Twin Peaks star Kyle MacLachlan shoots down the prospect of the iconic David Lynch series receiving a second reboot. Great TV shows can have divisive seasons - like Twin Peaks season 2 - with filler but also amazing moments. Lost season 6's controversial ending is worth revisiting for its character focus and themes. True Detective season 2 was critiqued, but had standout performances and should be re-evaluated.
Many great TV shows have had divisive seasons, and while some are genuinely irredeemable, others may be worth a second glance. Maintaining consistent excellence in television is incredibly difficult, as many shows tend to suffer from going on too long, and many others take their time to find their footing. For example, later seasons of The Walking Dead began to feel redundant, leading to a lackluster finale. On the other hand, The Simpsons struggled in its premiere season before becoming one of the most iconic shows of its era.

Twin Peaks pushed the boundaries of TV genres, combining drama, horror, and soap opera in a unique way. Russian Doll explored existential themes through a genre-bending mix of comedy, drama, and science fiction. BoJack Horseman began as a sitcom but evolved into a deeply sad drama, blending comedy, drama, and psychological exploration.
Certain TV shows were so unique that they could not be categorized into any one genre. While some television series could be spoken about in simple black-and-white terms, such as procedurals, sitcoms, or teen dramas, other shows have defied this type of classification and forged an identity that was so entirely their own that it became hard to even compare them to another existing series or popular genre. These are the types of television series that have pushed the boundaries of contemporary media and allowed for more creativity, experimentation, and unique storytelling devices to come into the mainstream.

Nearly four years have gone by since it was announced that Treehouse Pictures was developing a remake of the 1991 Christina Applegate cult classic Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead (watch it Here) that would be directed by Bille Woodruff (Beauty Shop and the Honey quadrilogy) from a screenplay by Chuck Hayward (Dear White People). All that was revealed about the project at the time was that it would be “a present-day retelling centered on a black family.” Then that’s the last we heard about it. Apparently it made its way through production while flying under the radar, though, because Film Ratings has revealed that the remake has already received its rating from the Motion Picture Association ratings board… and it’s a surprising one. While the original film was rated PG-13, the remake has earned an R rating for “teen drug use, language and some sexual references.”

If you’re like me and caught up with Twin Peaks well after its original run on ABC in 1990-1991, you probably got the same advice I heard. “Season one is great and season two sucks. But you need to stick through the second season to get to the finale which is the best episode of the entire show.” Leaving aside the fact that they probably mean “everything after the Laura Palmer murder is solved” sucks, since we got some great episodes in the second season, that advice offers a pretty limited understanding of what the original series had to offer.
Yes, Twin Peaks is most famous for its surreal imagery. Agent Cooper’s visit to the Red Room, Bob crawling over the sofa toward the camera, the Giant’s despairing observation that “It is happening again.” All of these are indelible parts of the series.

It wasn’t at the Double R Diner, but several Twin Peaks cast members reunited this weekend for some wine and, who knows, maybe a cherry pie that’ll kill ya.
Mädchen Amick, who played diner waitress Shelly Johnson on the ABC mystery series created by Mark Frost and David Lynch, was among those who shared the group photo on social media, writing, “Precious moments with looong time friends. Feelin all the feels.”

"Batman: The Animated Series" isn't just one of the greatest animated television shows of all time, but one of the most perfect comic book adaptations in history. While the saga of the Dark Knight has been told many times on the page and screen, "Batman: The Animated Series" explored the depths of Bruce Wayne's psyche. Many Bat-fans would argue that there isn't another actor who has captured the essence of the character quite like Kevin Conroy.
One of the best elements of "Batman: The Animated Series" was the show's emphasis on Gotham City's rogue's gallery. Mark Hamill brought chaotic energy to the Joker, which made Batman's arch-nemesis both hilarious and terrifying. Other villains like The Penguin (Paul Williams), The Riddler (John Glover), Two-Face (Richard Moll), Catwoman (Adrienne Barbeau), Poison Ivy (Diane Pershing), and Scarecrow (Henry Polic II) received terrific spotlight episodes and storylines. The creation of the character Harley Quinn...

This article contains Twin Peaks: The Return spoilers
“Is It future? Or is it past?”
When the One-Armed Man Mike (Al Strobel) posed that question to Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) in the second part of Twin Peaks: The Return, he may very well have been echoing the thoughts of the viewers. After all, Mike asked that question while sitting in the Red Room, the interdimensional waiting room that became the signature location during the original two-season run of Twin Peaks, and the 1992 prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. In fact, Cooper wore the exact same suit and tie combo, and sat in the same chair from the original series.
Before Cooper could answer, Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) entered the room, decked in the same black dress that she wore in the season two finale. Although MacLachlan and Lee had both clearly aged in the two and...

Twin Peak's Lucy Brennan talks to Dr. Garth Twa about The Return, Lynch and her dog Zeke.
Kimmy Robertson was indelible as Lucy, the receptionist at the Twin Peaks Sheriff Station. In Twin Peaks, The Return Lucy is still at her desk, and her romantic problems have settled down some and she is married—as seemed inevitable—to Deputy Andy Brennan. She was, in many ways, the nexus of pretty much all of the characters and events, having probably shared scenes with nearly every other actor…
Kimmy Robertson: Not everybody, no. Just about everybody who passed through the Sheriff’s station I did and everybody was there in that 17th hour of The Return. Seems like most of the people were in that conference room for that.
Garth Twa: Oh, the big climax of the new series!

“Twin Peaks” may have ended its revival last year, but the world that David Lynch and Mark Frost created continues to live on. Such is the case with all properties with cult followings, and it may have been what inspired the Comic-Con panel Saturday night titled “Twin Peaks and the Revival of a Cult Classic.”
Taking place at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel’s Indigo Ballroom, the panel featured a fan-favorite lineup including executive producer Sabrina Sutherland, stars Kimmy Robertson (Lucy Brennan), Harry Goaz (Deputy Andy Brennan), Chrysta Bell (FBI Agent Tammy Preston), Robert Broski (Woodsman), John Pirruccello (Deputy Chad Broxford), Eric Edelstein (Det. “Smiley” Fusco), Nicole Laliberte (Darya), George Griffith (Ray Monroe), Amy Shiels (Candie), and Adele Rene (Lieutenant Cynthia Knox).
Sutherland revealed that Lynch had texted her, “I got my days mixed up and I’m going to be there yesterday if not sooner. It’s slippery in here.

It may not be the Oscars, but if tonight’s results of the 44th Annual Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films is any indication of influence on that other Academy (which it usually isn’t) then get prepared for a Black Panther wave at the Dolby Theatre next February. After virtually sweeping last week’s MTV Movie Awards, Panther took five Saturns including Best Comic-to-Film Motion Picture and Best Director for Ryan Coogler. However the Panther himself lost to Luke Skywalker in the Best Actor contest where Mark Hamill took honors for Star Wars: The Last Jedi over favored Chadwick Boseman. Rian Johnson also picked up a Saturn for his Last Jedi screenplay. In fact, due to a diversity of categories , the awards were spread around with other Picture honors going to Blade Runner 2049 as Best Science Fiction Film, The Shape Of Water for Fantasy Film, Get...

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: A body, dead, wrapped in plastic.
And so begins “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” as recorded in 1990 for Kroq-fm’s “The Kevin and Bean Show.” The morning drive radio program used to put out an annual Christmas album, and for the first one, Jack Nance, Dana Ashbrook, Frank Silva, Kyle MacLachlan, Kimmy Robertson, and Robert Bauer created their own rendition of the classic holiday tune. Among the highlights: Twelve cups of coffee, 11 cherry pies, eight dancing midgets, five dozen donuts, four talking logs, three possessed souls and two secret diaries. And of course, the dead body of Laura Palmer.
You can listen to that, and several more holiday songs from and inspired by TV shows, as part of Turn It On’s special Christmas episode! Listen below!

“Twin Peaks” is relying on Laura Palmer to help it face off in this year’s Golden Globes race.
IndieWire has managed to secure the Showtime show’s “For Your Consideration” mailer for Hollywood Foreign Press Association members, and it’s definitely a must-see collectible for any fan of the David Lynch revival.
Because “Twin Peaks” aired during the summer, it wasn’t eligible for this past September’s Emmys — which means this represents the revival’s first shot at awards consideration. The show is competing in the Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television category, and it’s considered a front-runner.

During its first season in 1990, Twin Peaks performed quite well for ABC. Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. It's James Hurley's (James Marshall) birthday and he wants a present. Not that he's demanding it—no, no. James is cool. He's always been cool. So in that affable way of his that can be equal parts endearing and insufferable, he asks his going-on-23-year-old coworker, Freddie Sykes (Jake Wardle)—a U.K. to U.S. transplant who, like James, is a security guard at the Great Northern Hotel—to explain why he's always wearing a green gardener's glove on his right hand. "Tell me the story," he says to Freddie. The young man obliges the birthday boy with a captivating tale ("you ain't gonna believe me anyway," he prefaces) of a man in the sky called The Fireman, who told him to buy the glove,...

Because “Twin Peaks” creators David Lynch and Mark Frost were unable to attend the series’ Comic-Con panel in San Diego, the director created a video greeting for the fans.
And, as you can imagine, it was beyond words. But since the short film has yet to be released, we’ll try to do it justice.
Lynch’s message never got past a simple greeting — “Good afternoon, ladies and gentleman” — but he made the most of a static camera in a dark room. Pointed at the director sitting in a wooden chair, Lynch kept getting distracted by action offscreen.
First, someone walked out a door and fell, presumably, to his death. Then Lynch showed off a clinched hand holding a golf ball he described as “the last golf ball O.J. Simpson hit before going into prison in Nevada” before the camera cut. When it started up again, a horse, a gun,...

Kyle MacLachlan, cast, wax lyrical about show co-creator.
David Lynch did not attend the Twin Peaks panel on Friday afternoon, although the Hall H session focused on little else as panellists including show veteran Kyle MacLachlan extolled his virtues.
MacLachlan, who reprises his role as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper in the returning series on Showtime 27 years after the original series and 25 years after spin-off film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, said he owed his film and TV career to Lynch.
“He brought me up into film and spoiled me,” MacLachlan said. “He’s very accessible to all of us and he’s very open and available and then there’s a point at which he goes into a place that’s purely David.
“It’s like this is him as the artist. At that point I become like a fan. Now he’s my pal but when he goes there he’s a real artist...

Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. It's worth quoting the latest (perhaps the last?) gnomic pronouncements from Margaret "The Log Lady" Lanterman (the late Catherine E. Coulson), speaking via phone to Deputy Sheriff Tommy "Hawk" Hill (Michael Horse), in full: "Hawk—electricity is humming. You hear it in the mountains and rivers. You see it dance among the seas and stars. And glowing around the moon. But in these days, the glow is dying. What will be in the darkness that remains? The Truman brothers are both true men. They are your brothers. And the others, the good ones, who have been with you. Now the circle is almost complete. Watch and listen to the dream of time and space. It all comes out now, flowing like a river. That which is and is not.

Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. There's a brief, very beautiful moment in Part 7 of the new Twin Peaks, during the scene in which hotelier Benjamin Horne (Richard Beymer) and his secretary Beverly Paige (Ashley Judd) are investigating a strange sound emanating from the walls of the Great Northern. Ben points in the direction that he thinks the soft, soothing tone is coming from, and for a second he seems to be pointing right at the camera—past it, really…toward our world, at those of us on the other side of the fiction/fact divide. A blink-and-you'll-miss-it breach, but it lays some subtle groundwork for what follows: The aesthetically and thematically provocative Part 8 fitted the Twin Peaks mythos into our very real history of atomic destruction. And this week's...
