Why Fox Canceled Kevin Bacon's The Following After Three Seasons
Image
In April 2025, Kevin Bacon's horror series, "The Bondsman" took over the Prime Video charts, signalling the arrival of what looked to be yet another popular series for the streamer. Just one month later, Prime Video canceled "The Bondsman" in a surprising turn of events that reminded us all of the fickle nature of the streaming sphere. For Bacon, however, this wasn't the first time he'd fronted an initially popular show with a grizzly streak that was cancelled before its time.

Back in 2013, the actor debuted as former FBI agent Ryan Hardy in "The Following." The crime thriller series was created by Kevin Williamson, who's best known for writing "Scream" and several of its sequels, as well as creating the archetypal teen drama series "Dawson's Creek." In "The Following," however, Williamson indulged an even more violent and gritty tone, with Bacon's Hardy tracking down serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy...

Why Fox Cancelled The X-Files Spin-Off The Lone Gunmen
Image
Richard Langley (Dean Haglund), Melvin Frohike (Tom Braidwood), and John Fitzgerald Byers (Bruce Harwood) -- collectively known as the Lone Gunmen -- first appeared in the episode of "The X-Files" called "E.B.E.". They were a trio of very, very intense nerds who spent their days looking into conspiracy theories, often finding (specious) evidence for their existence. Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) also investigated conspiracies, and would occasionally turn to the Lone Gunmen to give his investigations credibility. The Gunmen, however, were comic relief characters, presented as an over-the-top counterpart to Mulder. No matter how wild Mulder got with his talk of aliens, monsters, and government cover-ups, the Gunmen outstripped him in paranoia and conspiratorial hypotheses.

The Gunmen appeared in 40 episodes of "The X-Files" overall (including in the weird latter-day revival seasons), and many fans loved them. They were a whimsical warning of what Fox Mulder might become, if he...

10 Greatest Portrayals Of Real Life People In Western Movies
Image
Real-life cowboys and outlaws in Western movies captivate audiences with their fascinating stories and talented performances by famous actors. Lesser-known figures also shine in Western films, uncovering hidden aspects of the Wild West and adding to the allure of the legendary period. Iconic performances by actors like Viggo Mortensen, Jeff Bridges, and Kris Kristofferson immortalize the memory of Wild West figures in cinematic history.

Part of the reason the Western genre has endured for so long was its connection to the true story of America and the real people who made the Wild West such a fascinating setting. With cowboys, gunslingers, and outlaws all making their way through the American frontier, something about these folk heroes and sinister bandits connected with audiences and meant that certain real peoples stories have been adapted repeatedly. While the legends behind these real figures always made for a great story, it was also vital...

The Exorcist Season 3: What The Cancelled Show Would Have Been About
Image
The Exorcist TV show was canceled due to low ratings, despite critical acclaim and a loyal fan base. Season 2 had even lower ratings than the first season, leading to its cancellation. The planned storyline for The Exorcist season 3 would have involved Marcus, Tomas, and Mouse tracking down a possessed priest with the help of people from different faiths. Flashbacks and branching timelines would have been used to fill in the gaps. While there won't be a season 3 of the TV show, a new Exorcist movie trilogy is in the works, with the first movie titled The Exorcist: Believer. Ellen Burstyn will reprise her role as Chris MacNeil, Regan's mother, and the movie is set to be released on Peacock on October 13, 2023.

The Exorcist season 3 never arrived and the TV series based on one of the greatest horror movies of all time ended. The original movie from 1973 was an intense,...

Jack Ryan Season 4 Ending Explained
Image
This article contains spoilers for Jack Ryan season 4.

Superheroic CIA analyst Jack Ryan is one of author Tom Clancy’s most iconic creations. In addition to spawning a whole “Ryanverse” in print, Jack has been played by some of Hollywood’s most prominent heavy hitters including Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine.

With the release of Prime Video’s Jack Ryan season 4, however, one actor can now comfortably claim to being Jack-ier than the rest. This season represents John Krasinski’s (The Office) fourth and final time embodying Jack Ryan’s very big shoes, giving him at least two more Jack Ryan adventures over any other actor. Still, someone else will inevitably take over the Ryan reigns one day as this season marks the end for both Krasinski’s depiction of the character and the series known as Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan overall.

So how does...

‘Jack Ryan’ Season 4 Ending, Explained: Did Jack Manage To Save America?
Image
Here is a wish for the future: Amazon Studios will take the character of Jack Ryan to the big screen and do a few big-budget actioners with no holds barred. John Krasinski has to play the titular role, of course. And the movies need to be more like the earlier Jack Ryan seasons than the later ones in order to be more fun. However, considering Krasinski is a lot more than Jack Ryan, which includes his directorial ambitions, it does not seem very likely, which is really a shame considering how good the actor has been for the role. We are going to come back to this, but for now, let us look into the endgame of Jack Ryan.

Five years after the very on-point, straightforward, action-driven maiden season, Jack Ryan came up with its most twisted, plot-driven story that involves a lot of relevant issues in world politics. The...

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Season 4 TV Review
Image
Plot: The fourth-and-final season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan finds the titular character on his most dangerous mission yet: facing an enemy both foreign and domestic. As the new CIA Acting Deputy Director, Jack Ryan is tasked with unearthing internal corruption, and in doing so, uncovers a series of suspicious black ops that could expose the vulnerability of the country. As Jack and the team investigate how deep the corruption runs, he discovers a far-worse reality—the convergence of a drug cartel with a terrorist organization—ultimately revealing a conspiracy much closer to home and testing our hero’s belief in the system he has always fought to protect.

Review: After three pulse-pounding seasons, Prime Video’s foray into Tom Clancy’s connected universe is ending. Filmed back to back with the third season, the fourth series of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan offers a shorter run that is...

Still Star-Crossed TV Review – Ya Shakespeare Meets Shonda Rhimes
Still Star-Crossed, the novel by Melinda Taub, is an interesting and clever look at the world Shakespeare didn’t actually lay out all that distinctly in Romeo & Juliet. It’s equal parts fan fiction and development cheat by appropriation, but it spins a decent yarn and delivers an updated sense of drama. "However, in our story, the rifts get bigger."  In the pilot,...
