Gianni Rodari was born on 23 October 1920 in Omegna, Piedmont, Italy. He was a writer and actor, known for Chipollino (1973), Volshebnyy golos Dzhelsomino (1978) and Cake in the Sky (1973). He was married to Maria Teresa Ferretti. He died on 14 April 1980 in Rome, Lazio, Italy.
