The Mandalorian's Frog Lady Honors George Lucas' Oldest Tradition
Image
Frog Lady's name reflects the fact George Lucas never cared to name many alien races, with Kenner giiving them names lke "Walrusman." Fans connect with Frog Lady's genuine nature, making her a standout character who just wants to care for her eggs. Will Frog Lady ever receive a proper name like Ponda Baba did, or will she continue to be a quirky and fun reference?

The Mandalorian season 2's surprise standout character Frog Lady is already a Star Wars classic – but she actually reflects a longstanding tradition from George Lucas's original movie. During the second season's second episode, Din Djarin transports a small, frog-like alien woman and her clutch of eggs on his Razor Crest to the estuary moon of Trask. It's there that he meets Bo-Katan Kryze, as Frog Lady is reunited with her husband.

The Frog Lady was played by Misty Rosas, and she quickly became a...

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 6 Goes Through The Looking Glass
Image
Spoilers follow for "Star Wars: The Mandalorian" Chapter 22 - Guns For Hire.

The latest "Mandalorian" episode begins with a Quarren freighter built on Mon Calamari traveling through space when it's beset by an Imperial ship. They offer to pay a bribe to the "Imperial Warlords," but find that it's not the Empire. It's the Mandalorians, led by Axe Woves (Simon Kassianides), coming to take a passenger from their ship prisoner. A "Romeo and Juliet" story is taking place there, and the Quarren captain has fallen for the Mon Calamari prince. The Mandalorians have been hired to take him back, and then they return to the opulent planet of Plazir-15.

Gears shift to Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) and Din Djarin. With Bo-Katan tasked by the Armorer with uniting all of the disparate groups of Mandalorians, she and Din Djarin set out from Nevarro to begin their new quest. The first place they...

The Mandalorian's Frog Lady Actor Is Returning In Season 3 (Though Not Necessarily As Frog Lady)
Misty Rosas, 2023
Frog Lady! I'm sorry, but that deserves to be yelled, which I just did in my house. Misty Rosas, the actor who played the Frog Lady in season 2 of "The Mandalorian," has revealed that she will be returning for season 3. However, since Rosas specializes in physical performances underneath heavy costumes, that doesn't necessarily mean that Frog Lady herself is going to be back (unless she's on a revenge mission against Grogu for his egg-eating rampage).

If you weren't aware, Rosas also did the physical acting work for Nick Nolte's Kuill in "The Mandalorian" season 1. Rosas is an...

Mark Hamill, Gina Carano among 22 ‘The Mandalorian’ cast members submitted for Emmys
Image
If you haven’t yet caught up on “The Mandalorian” Season 2, we suggest staying away from the 2021 Emmy ballots. They are chock-full of spoilers, including the fact that Mark Hamill has been submitted in the guest star category for playing a de-aged Luke Skywalker in the finale. Plus, fired cast member Gina Carano contends for the last time for her supporting role as mercenary Cara Dune. In all, 22 “The Mandalorian” cast members have been submitted for Emmys, including lead actor Pedro Pascal as the titular masked bounty hunter who seeks to protect his cute, green sidekick, Baby Yoda (aka Grogu).

SEEGiancarlo Esposito is trying to pull off what only his own co-star has done at the Emmys

Last year, this “Star Wars” offshoot turned out to be a surprise Emmy magnet, winning seven below-the-line trophies. It also received high-profile bids for drama series, guest actor for Giancarlo Esposito and voice-over performance for Taika Waititi.

Disney's The Mandalorian Emmys Campaign Includes Gina Carano for Supporting Actress
Image
Gina Carano might be out from her role in The Mandalorian, but the brass at Disney would still like to see her win an Emmy for her performance. Previously, Carano played Cara Dune in the Star Wars show's first two seasons, and it seems likely she would have returned for season 3. That changed earlier this year when Carano was publicly fired from the series based on controversial social media posts shared by the actress and former mixed martial artist.

At the time, Carano's firing generated widespread controversy. Many supported Disney's decision in letting her go, while others criticized the move as an act of "cancel culture." Either way, Disney still seems keen on having Gina Carano pick up an Emmy for her final performance as Cara Dune. On the recent "For Your Consideration" marketing materials for Disney's Emmy Awards push this year, Carano is listed as the only name under the Supporting Actress category.

Lucasfilm Creative Art Manager Defends Baby Yoda Eating Frog Lady’s Eggs
2020 has been a year that many of us would love to put in the rearview mirror and forget about as quickly as possible, but just when you thought things couldn’t get any more bizarre, The Mandalorian‘s Baby Yoda has been coming under fire. Unbelievably, there’s been a wave of online backlash against the show’s tiny green breakout star following his behavior during last week’s episode, “The Passenger.”

Ant-Man‘s Peyton Reed directed the self-contained story that saw Mando and Baby Yoda attempt to transport a character known as the Frog Lady across the galaxy with her unborn spawn so that she could be reunited with her husband. However, The Child got more than a little peckish during the trip, and had to be stopped several times from chowing down on the dynamic duo’s cargo.

Despite being played almost entirely for laughs, complete with slurping sound effects and whimsical music,...
