A multi-faceted and beloved actor coming out of Hollywood's Golden Age, the great Gregory Peck has embodied many classic Western characters, from Lewton 'Lewt' McCanles in Duel in the Sun to James 'Stretch' Dawson in The Yellow Sky. Yet, one of Gregory Peck's most acclaimed Westerns, The Gunfighter, highlights the actor at his best and, thanks to its innovative approach to the genre, has become a hallmark of the genre.

In the seminal movie, Gregory Peck played Johnny Ringo, an actual historical figure in the West. We will examine the real man who inspired The Gunfighter and see how accurately (or inaccurately) the Gregory Peck-led Western captures the gunslinging outlaw.

Disney+ has released the final teaser for the filmed version of “Hamilton,” which will be released on streaming July 3.

Starring the original cast led by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the “Hamilton” film was shot in June 2016 during the Tony and Pulitzer-winning musical’s original Broadway run under the direction of Thomas Kail. The cast includes Leslie Odom Jr., Daveed Diggs, Christopher Jackson, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jonathan Groff, Jasmine Cephas, Okieriete Onaodowan, Anthony Ross and Philippa Soo.

Disney bought the distribution rights to “Hamilton” for $75 million this past February, originally intending to release the film in October 2021. The Warner Archive is known for pleasant surprises, but this one is a real thrill -- one of the very best Rko films noir, reissued in a much-needed beautiful restoration.
