Image

Speaking with Shiver on the latest episode of her Unlocked podcast, Savannah revealed, “What a lot of people don’t know though is that when preparing for that resentencing hearing, we obviously had to write — we didn’t have to — but, I wrote a letter to the judge, Grayson [her younger brother] did, a few of mom and dad’s friends, just kind of in support of her leniency resentencing and so on.” “And you wrote a letter,” she continued, referring to Shiver. She went on to read the letter out loud for her listeners, stating her reason for doing so as “just to show the person that you are and how you show up.” In the letter,...

Julie Chrisley Resentencing Hearing

Julie Chrisley had a resentencing hearing a few months ago. This was to see if she could get out of federal prison sooner. However, this was not the case. The judge did not shave any time off. In fact, they added probation time to her sentence. The Chrisley family thinks it is because they are celebrities. They feel as though the judge felt they had to prove a point that celebrities could not get away with anything. Sadly, Julie is still in prison and her children still mourn her being away.

Reality TV’s Todd And Julie Chrisley Get Hefty Sentences In Fraud Case
Image
Reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley were sentenced Monday to lengthy prison terms after being convicted earlier this year on charges including bank fraud and tax evasion.

U.S. District Judge Eleanor Ross in Atlanta gave Todd Chrisley 12 years in prison, while Julie Chrisley got seven years behind bars, according to the U.S. attorney’s office in Atlanta. Each is to serve three years supervised release afterward, and Ross also ordered them to pay restitution in an amount to be determined later.

The Chrisleys gained fame with their show “Chrisley Knows Best”, which follows their tight-knit, boisterous family. Federal prosecutors said the couple engaged in an extensive bank fraud scheme and then hid their wealth from tax authorities while flaunting their lavish lifestyle.

“The Chrisleys have built an empire based on the lie that their wealth came from dedication and hard work,” prosecutors wrote in a pre-sentencing court filing.

Brian Kemp’s Voter Suppression Tactics Take a Hit in Court
Advocates of full and unrestricted voting rights in Georgia won a significant victory in federal court on Friday that will give relief to more than 3,000 naturalized citizens who had been blocked from casting a regular ballot in Tuesday’s midterm elections. The ruling represents a defeat for both Brian Kemp — currently Georgia’s Secretary of State and the Republican gubernatorial nominee — as well as the controversial “exact match” law that he has used to suspend tens of thousands of voter applications this cycle.

U.S. District Court Judge Eleanor Ross,...

A Fight Between AMC And A Small Movie Theater That Could Have Big Ramifications
Despite a few rousing successes, the overall box office in 2014 was down 5.2% from the year before. That.s hundreds of millions of dollars. In this landscape, where movie theaters are scraping and fighting for every dollar, looking for any competitive advantage, one lawsuit claims that big chains have an inside track, and an ongoing legal battle between giant AMC and a small collection of theaters could have a big impact on the industry. In January 2014, Cobb Theaters filed an antitrust lawsuit against AMC Entertainment, the nation.s largest theater chain, alleging their tactics and practices amount to conspiracy to commit competitive harm. According to The Hollywood Reporter, their case just took a huge step forward, as last Friday, U.S. District Judge Eleanor Ross denied AMC.s motion to dismiss, thus allowing the case to progress. Cobb.s complaint alleges that AMC uses their dominant position in the marketplace.69% in...

Any early welcome-home parties for Gucci Mane need to be put on hold. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the "Wasted" rapper's attempt to have his jail sentence reduced in half was denied Friday (October 28) by DeKalb State Court Judge Eleanor Ross.

Gucci (born Radric Davis) is currently serving a six-month sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of battery, two counts of reckless conduct and one count of disorderly conduct for pushing a woman out of a moving vehicle back in January.

After picking up a woman at the South Dekalb Mall under the pretense of going to breakfast, Gucci instead invited her to a tryst at a hotel. Gucci allegedly pushed the woman out of his Hummer when she refused his advances and asked to...

After only three months on the street, Gucci Mane is back behind bars.

In April, Gucci was jailed on numerous unspecified probation violations, which stem from a 2005 aggravated assault case. That month, however, the Atlanta rapper was also arrested on charges he shoved a female passenger from a moving vehicle back in January. While Gucci served time on probation violations from the '05 case, he had yet to be sentenced in the January incident until Tuesday (September 13).

The rapper's attorney, Ashutosh Joshi, confirmed to MTV News that Gucci has been sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty to two counts of battery, two counts of reckless conduct and one count of disorderly conduct for pushing a woman out of his Hummer back on...
