Earlier this year, Roth launched a company called The Horror Section with plans to produce all things horror, including movies, TV shows, games, podcasts, and more. The Horror Section picked up the distribution rights to writer/director Joe Begos’s Jimmy and Stiggs and is teaming up with Iconic Events to give the film a wide theatrical release on August 15th (with Roth’s faux trailer The Piano Killer attached to it). Now, Variety reports that The Horror Section has also picked up the distribution rights to the found footage horror film Dream Eater, with the plan being to get it into theatres on October 24th. A trailer can be seen in the embed above.
Written and directed by Jay Drakulic, Mallory Drumm, and Alex Lee Williams, Dream Eater follows Mallory (Drumm), a documentary filmmaker, who heads to a remote cabin in the mountains with her boyfriend Alex (Williams) to document his violent parasomnia.

The second film acquired by Eli Roth’s The Horror Section is a low-budget, found footage nightmare that has taken horror festivals by storm.
“Dream Eater,” co-written and co-directed by Jay Drakulic, Mallory Drumm and Alex Lee Williams and starring Williams and Drumm, is set to debut theatrically on Oct. 24.
Per the official logline, “The story follows Mallory (Drumm), a documentary filmmaker, who heads to a remote cabin in the mountains with her boyfriend Alex (Williams) to document his violent parasomnia. As his condition worsens, Mallory suspects something more sinister may be at play. As the nightmares escalate, so do the scares, right through the final frame.”

After creating the Thanksgiving faux trailer for the Robert Rodriguez / Quentin Tarantino double feature Grindhouse back in 2007, Eli Roth wanted to make an entire feature out of faux trailers, a project he called Trailer Trash. Trailers he teased for that included Nascar Dog, Bear Witness, and Farmageddon, plus collaborations with Edgar Wright, Robert Rodriguez, Peter Berg, Howard Stern, and Greg Nicotero, among others. Sadly, Trailer Trash never happened – but we did get a Thanksgiving movie eventually. And today, a new Roth faux trailer has dropped online! It’s called The Piano Killer and it will be playing in theatres with the bonkers splatterfest Jimmy and Stiggs, but you can watch it right now in the embed above.
Note that the faux trailer for The Piano Killer ends with the promise that the film is coming in 2042, a nod to the fact that it took seventeen years for the Thanksgiving movie to get made.

Eli Roth is channeling his Grindhouse past with The Piano Killer, a new trailer for his horror studio The Horror Section that will be playing in theaters nationwide starting August 15, attached to the first theatrical release from Roth’s new company, Jimmy and Stiggs.
The team previews, “The Piano Killer trailer offers a first taste of the twisted, genre-smashing direction Eli Roth is taking with The Horror Section. Created alongside longtime collaborator Jeff Rendell (Thanksgiving), the trailer follows in the footsteps of their original Thanksgiving teaser, which famously morphed into a cult-favorite feature.
“What starts as an ordinary opening moment, turns into total mayhem…when the mystery killer turns out to be a piano. It’s absurd. It’s terrifying. And it’s exactly the kind of audacious, offbeat horror that defines The Horror Section.”
For now, it’s just a fake trailer for a Dario Argento-style Giallo movie about a killer piano.

Nearly two decades ago, Eli Roth teased the world with a slasher flick centered around Turkey Day and, several years later, that movie served up a feature-sized production through Thanksgiving. Now, the celebrated filmmaker is in the trailer business again with the latest short-form project to come out under his new banner, The Horror Section. Titled The Piano Killer, the short but sweet project, which Roth created alongside his longtime collaborator, Jeff Rendell (Thanksgiving), gives fans yet another imaginative bit of content that could easily make its way into a longer format in the future. Ahead of the full trailer’s arrival in cinemas beginning on August 15 as part of the preshow entertainment prior to Joe Begos’ Jimmy & Stiggs, Collider is excited to give audiences a taste of the perfectly tuned brutality to come.

An Oxford-set college rom-com from the guy behind The Inbetweeners; the return of one of Netflix’s biggest ever shows; Genndy Tartakovsky’s latest adult animated project; Vanessa Kirby’s return to more intimate dramas about the human condition; a documentary that promised to shed new light on the Jussie Smollett hate crime incident; and a murder mystery film featuring several British and Irish acting icons are some of the highlights among the new films and series hitting Netflix in August.
Kicking off August is the rom-com My Oxford Year, which focuses on the tried and trusted formula of a young American girl heading to stuffy old Europe and finding love with some impossibly handsome and terribly charming guy, so it’s almost guaranteed to find a huge audience. Two years ago, Eli Roth said that he was interested in returning to the Hostel and Cabin Fever franchises – and within six months of him saying that, we learned that a Hostel TV series was in the works, with Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers) attached to star in the show. It was said that the series would be coming our way from Fifth Season, the studio behind Apple’s Severance, with Roth, Chris Briggs, and Mike Fleiss on board as executive producers. Roth and Briggs are also writing the project, which Roth will be directing, the aim being to reinvent the franchise as an “elevated thriller.” Now, a year later, Variety reports that the Hostel TV series has found a home at the Peacock streaming service!

Fans of the horror genre, Eli Roth and Paul Giamatti have a reason to celebrate today. While that trio may not appear to go together on paper, it's going to potentially lead to seeing one of Roth's more high-profile releases getting to continue its brand of traveling overseas torture on the Peacock streaming service.
Per Variety, the HostelTV series is officially being developed at Peacock, with Paul Giamatti attached to star. The project was first announced in 2024 with Giamatti's involvement, but it had yet to find a home. Roth will write, direct, and executive produce the series, while Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss, who have been involved since the original 2005 film, will both serve as executive producers on the project. While plot details are unknown, it will likely continue the franchise's tendency to make audiences fear being hunted as tourists in a foreign land.

Twenty years after the first film launched the controversial torture porn franchise, a series adaptation of Hostel horror is moving forward and has landed a streaming home. The movie was written and directed by Eli Roth, and followed American tourists in Slovakia, kidnapped by a mysterious group that allows wealthy elites to torture and murder people for money.
Despite the controversy surrounding its graphic violence and gore, the movie was a box office success, spawning two sequels, a follow-up written and directed by Roth, and a direct-to-video third movie, which Roth was not involved with. Roth had previously revealed his intent to develop further Hostel movies, though this looks to be going on a different path.

Eli Roth’s “Hostel” TV series has landed at Peacock for development, TheWrap has learned.
The NBCUniversal-owned streamer will develop the TV adaptation of the horror franchise with Paul Giamatti attached to star. The project hails from Roth, who directed and wrote the first two “Hostel” movies, as well as “Hostel” producers Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss.
Produced by “Severance” producer Fifth Season, the “Hostel” TV series is billed as a modern “reinvention” of the horror franchise, which kicked off with the 2006 movie. The original film centered on a group of American tourists whose trip to Slovakia turns upside down when they are taken individually by an organization that allows people to torture and kill others.
The news comes over a year after the project was reported to be in the works from Roth, Briggs, Fleiss and Fifth Season, with Roth intended to direct the TV show and write the script.

Peacock is offering a place to stay for a Hostel series project from filmmaker Eli Roth and star Paul Giamatti.
The NBCUniversal streamer will develop the project, which is based on Roth’s mid-2000s horror movies about an underground network of wealthy people who kidnap and torture young tourists staying in hostels. The show, which THR reported was in the works in 2024 (but without a home), comes from Fifth Season.
Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Giamatti, an avowed horror fan, is set to star in the show, though details of his role are being kept under wraps. The Hostel series project is described as a present-day take on the concept.

Rob Zombie has said that for every one film project of his that moves forward, there are five potential projects that fall by the wayside. We haven’t heard of quite that many unmade Rob Zombie movies, but we have heard of several over the years that never got off the ground… and unfortunately, most of them sounded pretty interesting. A little over a year ago, Zombie had said he didn’t know what his next movie is going to be, but he did know what it’s not going to be: he won’t be continuing his Firefly franchise, and he doesn’t want to make a sequel to The Munsters (which was poorly received). So while he figures out his next cinematic move, we we have put together a list of Rob Zombie Movies We Want To See!

In an unprecedented move, New York-based Fangoria Studios is attending the Sanfic Morbido Lab for possible co-production opportunities.
“Horror is a universal language that transcends cultural boundaries, making it the perfect foundation for this partnership. There’s no better way to mark Fangoria coming onboard with Morbido than by celebrating Latin American horror that has captivated global audiences,” said Fangoria Studios’ Armen Aghaeian, senior VP of TV + Film, adding: “After all, everyone screams in the same language.”
Now marking its 6th edition at Chile’s prominent Santiago Int’l Film Festival (Sanfic), the lab has lured the likes of Julio Hernandez Cordon this year, best known for his award-winning pics “I Promise You, Anarchy,” “Marimbas from Hell” and “Gasoline.” This time he’s pitching “Cloudspotting” (“Enviame tormentas”), a co-production between Diana Bustamante’s Burning in Colombia and Mexico’s newly launched Somos Maravillosa, led by producers María José Córdova and Triana García Simón.

Whether it's critically acclaimed classics like Die Hardand Pulp Fictionor easy-viewing action flicks like 2022's Gasoline Alley, Bruce Willisand his iconic filmography will always prove popular, especially in light of his illness-induced retirement three years ago. From the latter category, another of Willis' testosterone-fueled action thrillers has found success in 2025, becoming one of the ten most-streamed titles on MGM+ in the U.S., as of July 21, 2025, per FlixPatrol.
That movie is Death Wish, a 2018 remake of the 1974 film of the same name, following Willis' Dr. Paul Kersey as he vows to take revenge on the perpetrators of a horrific crime that left his wife and young daughter the victims of a brutal attack. Also starring Vincent D'Onofrio, Greyhound's Elisabeth Shue, and Law & Order: Organized Crime's Dean Norris, the movie was helmed by Eli Roth, six years before he would bring the disastrous adaptation of Borderlands to the big screen.

Jackie Chan And Michelle Yeoh (Photo Credit – Instagram)
In the Hollywood world of over-the-top action, few stars have taken hits like Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh. Both icons have carved their reputations in cinematic history with gravity-defying arrangements and real bruises to attest to it. But once, behind the scenes of a heart-stopping moment on Police Story 3: Supercop, things swerved dangerously off-script. An intricate stunt nearly spiraled into a catastrophe, and the Academy-winning actress could’ve been extremely hurt or worse. But Jackie Chan’s lightning-fast reflexes booted in just in time.
When Jackie Chan Saved Michelle Yeoh During a Failed Stunt
Back in 1992, during the making of Police Story 3: Supercop, Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh were not just co-stars, they were their own stunt replicas. Known for shirking the safety net and doing things the hard (and painful) way, they were in the thick of filming a high-risk hunt scene.

Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
Prime Video has pushed The Green Inferno back into the spotlight, nearly ten years after its theatrical release. Eli Roth’s Amazonian nightmare, once dismissed as a niche horror curiosity, has clawed its way into the top 10 global Prime Video rankings. According to Flixpatrol, it took the ninth spot yesterday, with 72 points on its very first day. This is a notable bump for a film that barely crossed $13 million at the box office when it opened.
What Is The Green Inferno About?
The Green Inferno brought a brutal throwback to the Italian cannibal genre, long before Midsommar sent audiences spinning. The story, inspired by Cannibal Holocaust, throws student activists into the Amazon rainforest, only for them to be captured by a flesh-eating tribe. It is more blood-soaked than most horror films made in the last decade, and it never really aimed for mainstream comfort.

Before there was Midsommar, there was The Green Inferno. The controversial horror film, directed by Eli Roth, riffed on the Italian exploitation movie Cannibal Holocaust, and followed a group of activists who are taken prisoner by a cannibalistic tribe in the middle of the Amazon rainforest. The Green Inferno was a particularly gruesome film, far more extreme than most mainstream horror that's produced these days. While it didn't set the box office on fire — it made its money back, though — the movie was almost engineered for home video success. And as it celebrates a decade, it has witnessed a spike in viewership on Prime Video.
According to FlixPatrol, The Green Infernoclaimed the ninth spot on the global Prime Video charts on July 18, earning 72 points on its first day of availability. The list was topped by the holdover hit Heads of State, starring John Cena, Idris Elba, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Springsteen will be portrayed by Jeremy Allen White, with Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Stephen Graham, Marc Maron, Gaby Hoffmann, and David Krumholtz also starring in the ’80s-set feature.

Smaller streaming services are expected to fall by the wayside in the coming years, their content gobbled up by the Netflixes and Disney Pluses of the world. But a new survey from Bango shows a ray of hope for smaller-sized streaming services that specialize in offering one particular type of content: bundles with non-streamer subscriptions.
Key Details: Is it special?: Nearly one-third of all Americans now subscribe to a specialty subscription service. Food and frights: Twenty-one percent of subscribers to food delivery services also subscribe to genre-specific streamers. Hand-in-hand?: Cross-service bundles like these could help niche streamers stay relevant in the years to come. 7-Day Free Trial $6.99+ / month amazon.com...

Neil Marshall’s The Descent has lost none of its effect in 20 years and modern horror films could certainly learn a thing or two from it. More on that below. Spoilers!
The UK has a long history of producing exceptional horror films. Just look at the legacy of Hammer, Ben Wheatley’s early work or 28 Days Later and its belated sequel 28 Years Later. And that’s just scratching the surface; there’s plenty more to scare your socks off in Britain’s horror pantheon.
It doesn’t get much more terrifying than Neil Marshall’s The Descent, however. Released in 2005, it felt refreshingly old school after the recent releases of Eli Roth’s Cabin Fever and James Wan’s Saw and the rising trend of “torture porn”. The Descent was a straightforward thrill ride that left you on the edge of your seat, with great creature design and believable side characters,...

This post contains spoilers for "Ballerina."
Len Wiseman's "Ballerina" understands that stylistic action is its most important quality. Whenever Eve (Ana de Armas) beats up her unusual villains during her quest for revenge (even using grenades to fight her way out at one point), "Ballerina" blossoms, giving us the impression that it truly belongs in the world of "John Wick." Everything else, however, is rather lackluster, even when John Wick (Keanu Reeves) himself shows up to aid Eve in her mission. Of course, watching Reeves in action is always a welcome sight, especially when his Wick veers into morally complex extremes. However, the character's presence in this time period (which takes place between the third and fourth "Wick" film) feels more jarring than plausible, evoking tonal confusion even when the Eve/Wick team keeps things interesting enough.
While Wick's presence in "Ballerina" feels tacked on, it is admittedly intriguing...
