- Sang the title role of Tom Rakewell in the world premiere of Igor Stravinsky's opera "The Rake's Progress" at La Fenice Opera House in September,1951. His co-stars were sopranos Elizabeth Schwarzkopf and Jennie Tourel, and Stravinsky conducted.
- Sang and acted the title role in the original Broadway production of Bernstein's operetta "Candide", as well as the role of the Padre in the original stage production of "Man of La Mancha".
- In 1952, he and Metropolitan Opera soprano, Dorothy Kirsten, made what was then the most complete recording of Romberg's operetta "The Student Prince". This was produced as part of Columbia Records' series of musicals and operettas produced by Goddard Lieberson, and conducted by Lehman Engel. It has been recently issued (2002) on CD.

- He acted and sang the role of Gaylord Ravenal in the New York City Opera's 1954 stage production of "Show Boat".
- Sang the role of Count Danilo in the 1952 English-language recording of excerpts from "The Merry Widow", again starring opposite Dorothy Kirsten.
- Under his original stage name of Robert Field, he played the role of Andrew Munroe in the original 1945 Broadway production of Sigmund Romberg's "Up In Central Park".
- (Summer 1961) He acted in Wilhelm Meyer-Forster's play, "The Student Prince," was performed in a Kenley Players production at the Veterans Memorial Theatre in Columbus and at Packard Music Hall Theatre in Warren, Ohio. John Kenley was artistic director.
- (8/5/2024) Starred in the original 1956 Broadway production of "Candide" opposite Barbara Cook. Was The Padre in the 1965 Broadway production of "Man of La Mancha."
