There’s a lot riding on Li Fong, warrior protagonist of the Karate Kid: Legends. The Beijing émigré (played by Disney mainstay Ben Wang) is barely settled into his new Manhattan surrounds when he finds himself schooling Victor, a West Side pizzaiolo (Joshua Jackson), in the ways of kung fu to help him win a boxing purse and clear his debt with an unfriendly neighborhood loan shark (Tim Rozon). But when Victor is cheated out of a certain win by an illegal knockout blow, Fong is reminded of the tragic death of his kung-fu idol older brother, and his frozen reaction in the moment puts him at odds with Victor’s daughter Mia, an emerging love interest (Sadie Stanley), and his own mother (Ming-Na Wen), who explicitly forbade him from fighting.

Sometimes it feels like “Karate Kid: Legends” is fighting with one hand tied behind its back.

It knows the kind of movie it wants to be, which is a film in the vein of the previous “Karate Kid” stories — including the TV series “Cobra Kai” — where a bullied teenager sorts out his personal issues with the help of a kindly mentor and no shortage of martial arts training montages. It’s a formula that may not be the kind of spectacle-drenched premise that studios now demand from their franchise plays, but it’s one that works regardless of its setting.

But it looks like Sony didn’t want a straight “Karate Kid” reboot this time (2010’s movie only made $359 million worldwide off a $40 million budget so I guess that’s unacceptable) and preferred the comfort of some familiar faces. It’s been over a year since the beloved paranormal drama, SurrealEstate, starring Tim Rozon (Wynonna Earp), was renewed for a third season, also a few months following the broadcast of the Season 2 finale. TVLine can now confirm that the new season has a premiere date set only a couple of weeks away, and fans can get a glimpse at what’s ahead, thanks to a newly released sneak peek from Syfy.

TVLine can exclusively report that Season 3 of Syfy’s SurrealEstate will premiere Thursday, April 3 at 10/9c — and that the action will pick up three years after the events of the Season 2 finale, in which Susan was made partner but much of the rest of the team split off for new pursuits.

Wynonna Earp is finally returning home to Purgatory, three years after going on the road to battle her most dangerous villain yet. Three years after ending its run on Syfy, the supernatural Western action-adventure series is returning with a sequel to most of the original cast and a new and exciting villain. Directed by Paolo Barzman, from a screenplay co-written by Emily Andras and Beau Smith, and while for all intents and purposes, it is a standalone film, there are some talks of rebooting the series.

Wynonna Earp: Vengeance follows the story of Wynonna as she is continues her work on the road with the help of Doc Holliday but she soon has to return to Purgatory after getting an ominous call to fight against a psychotic seductress who is out for revenge against Wynonna and everyone she loves.

Wynonna Earp showrunner Emily Andras opens up about her hopes for the series' future on streaming.

Speaking to Collider, Andras was asked about the extra emphasis on sexuality and adult themes that were present in the recently released Wynonna Earp: Vengeance special, which premiered exclusively on Tubi. "Tubi was amazing," Andras said. "They were like, 'No rules. You can push the sexuality. You can definitely push the language.' The name of the game was elevation. Because we're doing a 90-minute special, we wanted to feel like you could only get it on Tubi in this format, but this isn't something you would've seen in Season 3, for example. So, I was stunned."

The made-for-tv Wynonna Earp movie “Vengeance” sparked discussion among fans following its release on the streaming service Tubi. The 90-minute special focused on demon hunter Wynonna Earp and her allies battling corruption within the Black Badge organization. However, two significant character deaths caused disagreement among viewers of the long-awaited reunion special.

One death dividing fans was Doc Holliday, played by Tim Rozon since the show’s 2016 debut. In a pivotal shootout scene, Doc gunned down five opponents but suffered a fatal wound. Rozon said he supported the creative choice, feeling Doc “died for the one that means anything to him.” He wanted Doc to go down fighting, which the script provided. To quickly recap: Demon-hunter Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano) and Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon) are brought back to Purgatory by an “Earp” message spelled in body parts, and in the ensuing fight, Doc is killed. By now, you have seen Wynonna Earp: Vengeance on Tubi, and you know this special is much more than a fun detour in Purgatory.

This is a story with real consequences, and we caught up with creator Emily Andras to get her take on it.

Like all things Earp, Emily is passionate and filled with life. Don’t be alarmed when it appears as if the claws come out. The conversation was lighthearted and emotional and packed a punch. It’s exactly what you’d expect from the woman who brought Wynonna, Waverly, Doc, and Nicole to life!

Gather ‘round, Earpers. There is trouble brewing once again in Pergatory so Wynonna Earp and her band of demon-fighting friends and family have been called back into service. The new streaming special “Wynonna Earp: Vengeance” continues the story from the Syfy series “Wynonna Earp” which ended its run in 2021. Emily Hampshire, known for portraying Stevie Budd on Schitts Creek and Jennifer Goines on SyFys 12 Monkeys, is joining the cast of the new film Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice.

According to The Wrap, Hampshire will play a crooked cop in the high-concept buddy action-comedy movie that will be set in a criminal underworld. BenDavid Grabinski is serving as writer and director on the project. Vince Vaughn, James Marsden, Eiza Gonzlez, Jimmy Tatro and Keith David will also be in the film.

What inspired you to get into podcasting, and why this concept? I find it very fascinating!

Wynonna Earp series creator Emily Andras revisits Wynonna, Doc, Waverly, and Nicole’s world in Wynonna Earp: Vengeance. The follow-up film to the crazily addictive series checks in on the lives of all the key players after giving them their happy endings in the season four finale.

#Earpers remain just as dedicated to the series now as they were three years ago when the finale aired. No one wanted to say goodbye then, and social media was flooded with fans thrilled to see where Andras is going to take the story when Vengeance was announced.

But to hear series star Melanie Scrofano tell it, filming the scene was more than cool. It was painfully frigid.

“It was freezing,” Scrofano recalls in the TVLine video Q&a above.

Since 2012, the V/H/S franchise has been consistently delivering smart, scary thrills and developing a growing following among horror fans.

Normally, after 12 years and six movies, excitement for the next sequel begins to run dry.

But the anthology format enables the V/H/S folks to keep things freshly frightening year after year.

Thus, anticipation for V/H/S/Beyond is through the roof a full three weeks before the film’s premiere on Shudder.

And we now have a poster and teaser to further whet your appetite as spooky season kicks into high gear.

The trailer doesn’t give much away plot-wise.

We have the same lo-fi, found footage aesthetic as the previous V/H/S flicks, but it looks like this one will be taking us in more of a sci-fi direction.

“Wynonna Earp” wasn’t going to keep the fans waiting forever for more stories.

The cult series wrapped it’s four-season run back in 2021, and thanks to a small but incredibly mighty fan base that campaigned vocally online, a new 90-minute special is set to air on Sept. 13 on Tubi called “Wynonna Earp: Vengeance.”

Creator Emily Andras told Entertainment Weekly that the show had stories planned for a fifth season but Season 4 was – luckily – written with some closure in mind. Now the special will tie things up once and for all.

“We had been ordered for a season 4 and a season 5, but things were kind of up in the air,” Andras said. “I thought: It’s better to write an ending that is satisfying and if we’re blessed with another season, I can blow it all up. My gamble paid off, for better or for worse.”
