Disney's hit Wizards series followed the Russo Family as Jerry Russo (David DeLuise) trained his three children, Justin (David Henrie), Max (Jake T. 8 Biggest Characters Missing From Wizards Beyond Waverly Place So Far
Image
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, the highly-anticipated Wizards of Waverly Place reboot, hasn't brought back these 8 characters from the original show, and it's unclear whether some of them will come back at all. Based on Alex and Justin Russo's ages, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is set approximately 15 years after the original show, and plenty has happened since Wizards of Waverly Place. Most notably, Justin (David Henrie) married a mortal woman named Giada and had two sons, Milo and Roman, after he was fired as headmaster of WizTech and walked away from his magic powers.

Justin's family is the focus of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, a major change from Wizards of Waverly Place, which focused primarily on Alex. Selena Gomez's Alex Russo is still part of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place's cast of characters, although she is guest starring rather than having a leading role. Jerry Russo, another member of the Russo family tree,...

Why Does Justin Russo Still Have His Powers In Wizards Beyond Waverly Place (Despite Not Being The Family Wizard)?
Image
The highly-anticipated Wizards of Waverly Place spin-off series Wizards Beyond Waverly Place has begun streaming on Disney+, and the show's first 9 episodes raise many questions, including how protagonist Justin Russo still has his wizard powers. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is a brand-new era for the Russo family, and there have been many changes since Wizards of Waverly Place. Some of the biggest updates include Justin's marriage to a mortal woman named Giada and the birth of his two sons, Roman (the older) and Milo (the younger).

Currently, Justin's sons don't have magic powers, but Justin does. The latter is particularly surprising based on the family wizard rule from Wizards of Waverly Place. Each wizard family participates in the Wizard Competition, which determines the sibling who will remain a wizard. In Wizards of Waverly Place, Alex won, meaning Alex should be the sole wizard among the Russo siblings. However, an exception...

Wizards Of Waverly Place's Russo Family Tree Explained
Image
Wizards of Waverly Place puts the spotlight on the Russo family, a complex group of Wizards and mortals who have a unique relationship with magic compared to most other wizards and witches. The show first began airing on the Disney Channel in 2007, and it saw the main character, Alex Russo, played by Selen Gomez grow from a young and inexperienced witch into a powerful and knowledgeable hero who was able to win the right to keep her powers.

Within the world of magic set up in the show, children and teenagers are able to wield magic when they are young, but once they reach maturity, the family magic needs to be granted to just one child in order to make them a full witch or wizard. But, when it comes to the Russo's their magic heritage gets complicated as Jerry initially had the family powers, but later passed them to his brother,...

Image
The first 9 episodes of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, the highly-anticipated Wizards of Waverly Place spin-off series, are now streaming on Disney+, and these are the 8 biggest reveals from the show's new episodes. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place focuses on Justin Russo, the oldest of the Russo siblings, although there are a number of Russo family members among Wizards Beyond Waverly Place's cast of characters. The reboot is set about 15 years after Wizards of Waverly Place, based on Justin Russo's age in Wizard's Beyond Waverly Place.

Given this major jump forward in time, numerous significant changes have taken place in the Russo family. While many of these changes have happened to Justin as the protagonist of the spin-off show, there were several surprising updates to the Russo family revealed in the show's first 9 episodes. Wizards Of Waverly Place Star Reunites With Alex Russo's Werewolf Boyfriend On Set Of Sequel Filming

David Henrie and Gregg Sulkin reunite on the set of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. Premiering on the Disney Channel in 2007, Wizards of Waverly Place starred Selena Gomez as Alex, Henrie as Justin, and Jake T. Austin as Max, three magical siblings of the Russo family who compete to be the next family wizard. The world of the show is set to return with sequel series Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, which sees Justin embrace the non-wizarding life as father to Milo (Max Matenko) before Alex introduces him to Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown), a wizard who seeks to be Justin's apprentice.

Henrie now takes to Instagram to share a new photo from the Wizards Beyond Waverly Place set in which he poses with Sulkin, who memorably played Mason Greybeck in Wizards of Waverly Place. Greybeck appeared in a number of episodes of the original Disney Channel show, serving primarily as Alex's boyfriend.
