Exclusive: Vmi Worldwide has boarded On the Hunt (fka Hunt Mode), the Jared Cohn (Deadlock) action flick, in time for a Cannes Market launch.

As we told you in February, the film stars Nicky Whelan as an Tammy Fenton, an ex-special forces operative who discovers her daughter has been abducted by a ruthless human trafficking ring. She launches an all-out mission to bring her home, aided by a former military comrade (Timothy V. Murphy). Fenton navigates navigates the criminal underworld, unearthing a web of corruption extending from the streets of Los Angeles to high-powered officials.

Starring alongside Whelan and Murphy are Til Schweiger, Cam Gigandet and Rampage Jackson.

“This film is a raw, relentless ride that taps into a parent’s deepest fear,” said Andre Relis, CEO of Vmi. “It’s not just about vengeance – it’s about a mother, a warrior, willing to burn the world down to save her daughter.

From debut feature director Mike Hatton, Hollywood Heist also stars Til Schweiger, Tara Reid, and Paul Sloan. The film follows a Hollywood power agent (Cannon) trying to land an actor (Baldwin) by telling the story of his client, a movie producer (Hatton), along with a washed-up movie star pal (Sloan), as they race against time to save their latest production. This comes after the project’s bank account is wiped clean by a thief, leading to an onslaught of negotiations with famous actors, drug lords, and death.

Hatton penned the script with Sloan and is producing under his Ton of Hats banner alongside Akopyan, who is producing for Oscar Gold Productions. Ton of Hats and Oscar Gold financed the feature. Cannon is executive producing in association with his Ncredible Entertainment.

Exclusive: Vmi Worldwide has boarded worldwide sales rights on Unwinding, a crime thriller starring Peter Facinelli, Ross McCall, and Yellowstone actor Q’orianka Kilcher.

The film’s supporting cast includes James Paxton, Darren Petite, Sarah Wynter, Avi Angel, Timothy V. Murphy, and Amanda Plummer. The film’s script was penned by Reza Ghassemi (In Full Bloom), who also directs. The film was edited by Elika Rezaee (Shayda). Scor was composed by Andrew Kawczynski (Dune).

Unwinding is described as a “neo-noir crime thriller about two private investigators (Facinelli and Kilcher) drawn into the high-stakes kidnapping of a senator’s son. As the case spirals into a labyrinth, they uncover the shadowy presence of a secret society operating behind a veil of political power. The deeper they go, the more dangerous the truth becomes.

We’ve seen this happen with Mickey Mouse, and now the character who’ll soon be seen in more than one horror movie is Popeye the Sailor Man. Last November, it was announced that Alpeke Entertainment is working on a slasher horror comedy called Shiver Me Timbers, which puts a horror twist on Popeye.

Director Robert Michael Ryan’s Popeye the Slayer Man is on our way this month from Vantage Media, and Bloody Disgusting has scored the debut of the film’s opening sequence.

Exclusive: Vmi Worldwide has boarded worldwide sales on comedy Special Ops Rent-a-Cop, which stars Michael Jai White, Billy Zane, Chuck Lidell, Jim O’Heir and Collen Camp.

Filming recently wrapped in Kentucky and Vmi will introduce the film to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin.

The film follows legendary Special Forces Operator Brock Belfry (Jai White) after he is discharged from service following a severe injury on the battlefield. He is forced to accept a job as a security “rent-a-cop” escorting a bus load of unruly senior citizens to Atlantic City. The trip goes from challenging to worse as Brock realizes he is simultaneously being tracked by an old nemesis, who has dispatched a bumbling kill squad to take him out.

William Butler directed and wrote the picture with Brooklen Bruce, Jarrett Furst, David Wachs and Ojan Missaghi serving as producers.

As a fresh reminder, there are two different Popeye horror movies headed our way, one of which is titled Popeye’s Revenge. The other one is titled Popeye the Slayer Man, exploring an alternate backstory for the legendary sailor, and Deadline brings us an update this afternoon.

Deadline details in today’s report, “A North American theatrical release is being lined up for Spring 2025 via Vantage Media.” Additionally, the outlet notes, “Vmi Worldwide has boarded worldwide sales on horror Popeye the Slayer Man, which will have its world premiere screening in the market at next month’s EFM in Berlin.”

Exclusive: Vmi Releasing, the North American distribution arm of Vmi Worldwide, has picked up North American rights to Spanish filmmaker Fernando Trueba’s latest pic Haunted Heart, starring Matt Dillon.

Vmi acquired the pic from Film Constellation. Oscar-winner Trueba directs the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Rylend Grant. Starring alongside Dillon are Goya-nominated Aida Folch (The Artist and the Model) and Juan Pablo Urrego (Memoria).

Set on a beautiful remote island in Greece, a young and spirited Alex (Folch) joins the team of a boutique seaside restaurant as their new waitress. Despite her femme-fatale charm quickly winning the heart of the charismatic Enrico, she instead falls for the enigmatic restaurant manager Max (Dillon), a reclusive American, who settled on the island decades ago. Heading into the Cannes market Vmi Worldwide has acquired international sales rights to the action title Kill Craft, with sister company Vmi Releasing set to release in North America.

Mark Savage wrote and directed the story starring Sanae Loutsis as a wife and daughter forced to take over the family business after her veteran hitman father is mysteriously killed on the job.

Michael Paré and Bill Oberst Jr. also star in the feature from Stl Productions, Savage Sinema, and Millman Productions.

Savage, Alexi Angelino, and Jeff Miller produced Kill Craft, with Shawn Loutsis and Tamie Loutsis serving as executive producers.

Exclusive: Vmi Worldwide has acquired worldwide sales rights on Breed of Greed starring Gina Gershon (Showgirls).

Directed by Ralph Hemecker who also wrote the screenplay alongside Otto Eckstein and Andrew Boszhardt, the film’s cast is rounded out by Andrew Boszhardt, Adrian Enscoe, Chelsea Gilligan, and Madison Lewis.

The synopsis reads: Following the mysterious death of the Wendolyn’s patriarch brings the pharma family back together. Sarah Shahi is not staying away from the small screen for too long. 

The popular actress has landed a recurring role on ABC's The Rookie, reports TV Line. 

Shahi will play Jessica Russo, a "smart and intense rock star FBI agent"  who has "a subversive sense of humor."

Sarah most recently fronted Reverie on NBC, but the drama was canceled a few months back after a low-rated freshman run.
