Margot Robbie opened up about all things Barbie while participating in The Hollywood Reporter’s Actress Roundtable.

The 33-year-old actress and producer broke down some conversations that took place behind the scenes as the movie was coming together. That included addressing concerns that the movie wouldn’t resonate with men.

She also discussed her approach to bringing Barbie to life, revealing purposeful changes she made to her character as the movie progressed.

Margot admitted that it was a struggle to convince everyone that the movie deserved a large enough budget to succeed. That entailed addressing concerns about men seeing the movie.

“Everyone’s like, ‘There’s just no way. Men will never, ever go to see a Barbie movie.’ Men will go see a great movie. If it’s great, everyone would go see it.”

For Greta Gerwig’s 40th birthday, Gosling decided to give her the best Ken-inspired gift he could: a flash mob that sang a mashup of the most popular songs from her new hit film Barbie. He gathered a large group of Barbies and Kens to perform a dance number for the director.

The flash mob surprised Gerwig at her Pilates class and began with a bunch of Kens dancing to Gosling’s “I’m Just Ken” and a group of Barbies later joining to perform Dua Lipa’s song “Dance the Night.” They ended the performance by yelling “Happy Birthday Greta!”

The Barbie film’s official Instagram account posted a video showing Gerwig getting surprised during what appears to be a Pilates class as a flash mob of Barbies and Kens pop into the room in honor of the filmmaker turning 40 on Friday. Gosling plays Ken opposite Margot Robbie’s Barbie in the runaway hit that has topped the domestic box office for three straight weekends and on Sunday surpassed $1 billion globally, making it the first live-action movie from a solo female director to reach that feat.

Ryan Gosling sent Barbie director Greta Gerwig a very special birthday present. Beach Ken celebrated Gerwig’s special day by sending her a flash mob of Kens and Barbies.

Gerwig was seemingly in the middle of a Pilates session when a group of Kens showed up singing Goslin’s “I’m Just Ken” from the major motion picture’s soundtrack. After the Kens performed the song, a group of Barbies came in to the tune of Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night.”

Gerwig recently opened up about watching Gosling on Saturday Night Live...

“Barbie” director Greta Gerwig turned 40 on Friday, and actor Ryan Gosling knew exactly how to celebrate. The official Barbie social media channels shared a video of a flash mob that Gosling sent to Gerwig in honor of her big day (and their big movie).

In the clip, Gerwig is filmed laughing and crying all at once as dancer after dancer files in to the room and begins a routine set to Gosling’s big-screen musical number “I’m Just Ken.”
