At the recent Silver Scream Con, I was surprised to hear Hellraiser star Doug Bradley remark, “The only one in the series I feel doesn’t work is Inferno, for various reasons.” I had always considered the 2000 effort one of the franchise’s stronger offerings, but it had been a while since I revisited the series, so I thought it may not hold up as well as I remembered.

As I’m working my way through the series ahead of David Bruckner‘s reboot, which drops October 7 on Hulu, I can confirm my support for the fifth installment. I have no doubt that Bradley has his reasons for disliking the film – it being the first installment to be released straight to video no doubt required adjustments, not to mention his minuscule screen time as Pinhead – but, even with its shortcomings, I think Hellraiser: Inferno is better than he gives it credit for.

Once one of art-metal’s most promising bands, Daughters hit their stride in the mid 2000s with a sound that blended the Jesus Lizard’s faux-macho bombast with jagged guitars that sounded like the Birthday Party played in reverse at 78 r.p.m. Their brilliant second LP, Hell Songs, barely lasted 23 minutes, as frontman Alexis Marshall snarled over guitarists Nicholas Sadler and Brent Frattini’s six-string swirls and drummer Jon Syverson’s machine-gun rattles. Then they broke up unceremoniously in 2009 while making their third album, Daughters, which came out posthumously...

Probably one of the more overlooked Stephen King adaptations has got to be Tom McLoughlin’s Sometimes They Come Back which first aired on network TV in 1991. A film that I don’t think I fully appreciated until I got a little older (and much wiser), this revenge tale is centered around a troubled teacher (Tim Matheson) who is haunted by a gang of greasers who killed his brother and were obliterated in the attack as well, some 27 years after the tragedy. A creepy yet poignant exploration of loss and regret, Sometimes They Come Back is truly a film I think only gets better with time.

If you listen to some fans of the series, every movie after the fourth film is not worth watching. With that viewpoint being told so often, I went into this movie with lower expectations. Summit Entertainment released their new drama flick "Fair Game" into theaters today and the top movie critics gave it some really positive reviews with mostly A and B ratings. The latest trailer is up for Paramount Pictures very eagerly-anticipated western drama "True Grit." Helmed and written by Ethan and Joel Coen based on the novel of the same title by Charles Portis, the film also stars Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, Hailee Steinfeld, Nicholas Sadler and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld. This one looks most impressive and finds theaters this Christmas. Since I'm one of the many fans of the Coen brothers as well as the western genre, I'll definitely be catching this one at some point...ma'am. No joke, it seems like every bit of dialogue that we hear in this trailer we've heard before in other movies like this. Penn and Watts had such chemistry in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s 21 Grams. Looks as though lightning may have striked twice casting these two together in what looks to be a powerful film along with their strong performances.

Author Sophie Kinsella‘s brood of boys just grew by one.

Born Madeleine Wickham, the Shopaholic series writer and her husband Henry welcomed their fourth son, Rex William Townley Wickham, on Thursday, April 15, she announced via her official Web site.

Baby boy weighed in at 7 lbs., 10 oz. and is “adorable,” raves the proud mama.

“We are all besotted,” Kinsella’s message reads. “Thank you so much for all the good wishes you sent me and I’ll see you again soon.”

Rex joins big brothers Freddy, Hugo and Oscar at home.

Kinsella, 40, announced the pregnancy in March.
