Simon Pegg would be “so happy” if a fourth Star Trek movie got made. The 55-year-old actor has starred in director J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi franchise as Scotty from 2009’s Star Trek to 2016’s Star Trek Beyond, and Pegg has said he would love to make another film so he can see his co-stars again.Speaking on a panel at Stlv: Trek to Vegas 2025, he told fans: “J.J. has always said that there are scripts being developed and this and that. I see them occasionally. “They all live in Los Angeles. I saw Zoe [Saldaña] this year, which was lovely. I saw Karl [Urban] a couple of times when I was working on The Boys.

Star Wars and Disney Plus have gone hand-in-hand for over half a decade. Just as Marvel Studios has, the Lucasfilm franchise has successfully brought one of the most successful silver screen sagas to the small screen to tell a host of new stories via the now-iconic streaming service. It hasn't been completely smooth-sailing, but for the most part, it has marked a gripping new chapter in the ancient Star Wars lore, providing us with plenty of thrilling new stories in that galaxy so far, far away.
We've even seen some Star Wars legends headline their own Disney Plus shows along the way. Obi-Wan Kenobi returned for his own series, with Ewan McGregor reprising the role for the first time in nearly 20 years. Meanwhile, names in the franchise that were so well-known to the most devoted of fans now got to be showcased to wider audiences in The Book of Boba Fett,...

The "Star Wars" universe is one of the most fleshed-out, detailed, and vast settings in all of fiction. That sense of history and world-building, with countless planets and stories all fitting into a single galaxy, makes the property feel alive, like there is always something happening off-screen — even if you don't read the countless supplemental materials like comic books and novels. This also extends to the sheer number of weird creatures (big and small) in the "Star Wars" franchise, most of whom have their own lore and connection to the larger universe (like the Purrgils or the Loth-cats).
Then there's the Mythosaur, a creature we only briefly got a glimpse of in "The Mandalorian" season 3 but which had already been a huge part of the "Star Wars" mythology for decades before that. In "The Mandalorian," we get to see a real Mythosaur when Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) and Din Djarin...

For fans of football, the Rocky movies, and the Star Wars franchise, it was a sad day last February when Carl Weathers passed away. Many fans mourned his passing, and it created a big question: how will the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu film address the actor's untimely passing?
Weathers portrayed bounty hunter turned magistrate Greef Karga, in each of the first three seasons of The Mandalorian. Outside of lead, Pedro Pascal, Weathers appeared in the most episodes during the show's run, a status he shares with Katee Sackhoff, who plays Bo-Katan Kryze.
His character was an important and vital part of the series. Karga played almost a mentor of sorts for Pascal's titular character and appeared in several key moments of the popular Disney+ show. In addition, Weathers directed two episodes in the second and third seasons.

Months after the world gushed over Josh Hartnett’s casting in the upcoming film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Verity, the 47-year-old actor landed another gig in a similarly thrilling production. In May 2022, Hartnett was announced as the lead of an untitled Netflix limited series, marking the first cast member to be revealed. This new project is described as an eerie supernatural thriller set in Newfoundland, where it is currently being filmed.
As production is fully underway, fans can get a glimpse of Hartnett behind the scenes thanks to What’s on Netflix’s newly-released set photos, which were taken on July 19, per SplashNews. At the time, the actor was filming scenes in remote areas of Newfoundland, and as seen in the images, he was working on the deck of a boat named “High Hopes” with several crew members. Director Matt Shakman has revealed the fourth Star Trek movie had “changed dramatically” before he exited the project in August 2022.The 49-year-old filmmaker was due to helm the next instalment in the Star Trek franchise, though had left the movie by the summer of 2022 due to scheduling conflicts with The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Now, Shakman has revealed that his Star Trek movie was already in pre-production before he parted ways with the project. He explained to Variety: “We had stages, we had crew, we were moving ahead.”However, Shakman admitted that plans for the fourth Star Trek movie had shifted significantly: the crew were let go, the stages were removed and the film “didn’t have a start date anymore”.Meanwhile, good progress on The Fantastic Four: First Steps was being made, and so Shakman dropped out of Star Trek to focus on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster.

For many years, the majority of "Star Wars" actors were identified by one signature role, save some of the shorter, alien-costumed actors like Jack Purvis, who played both the chief Jawa and Teebo the Ewok. That was when the entirety of the franchise was a mere trilogy of movies. Now, it's a never-ending spout of content featuring three trilogies, two theatrical spin-off movies, multiple streaming shows, and a cargo load of animation. With the expansion of the property across multiple media, reliable thespians have been called back by Lucasfilm, not only to reprise their old characters, but to double, triple, or more as multiple characters. We're not just talking about animation, in which versatile voice actors have been a tradition since the heyday of Mel Blanc. Many "Star Wars" actors in live-action projects have played more than one role, and this list is for them.

Of all the Star Wars animated characters brought into live-action, Bo-Katan Kryze might be the one now familiar to more mainstream audiences. Her role in The Mandalorian Disney+ series introduced her as a bitter antagonist hungry for battle and power, and eventually softened her to viewers and depicted her as a worthy hero.
The show, unfortunately, didn't do a great job of portraying the Bo-Katan we first met in The Clone Wars. And that's not Katee Sackhoff's fault; if anything, she brought the character to life in a way another actor never could have. Bo-Katan, at the end of the day, should have stayed in animation.
It can be exciting to see your favorite Star Wars characters make the jump from animation to live-action. When Bo-Katan first showed up in "Chapter 11: The Heiress," I had such a knee-jerk positive reaction that I scared my dog and almost spilled my coffee.

Over the nearly five decades of Star Wars, the franchise has grown much bigger than many of its early fans and creators ever anticipated. There are so many Star Wars characters to meet and explore that even the most extensive encyclopedias can barely include them all.
With this kind of expansive universe comes a real danger: that some characters' motives and true purposes in various stories become assumed rather than explained. The most misunderstood Star Wars characters, however, also happen to be the most interesting to analyze.

Rey Skywalker -- known as simply "Rey" for most of the sequel trilogy films -- is a complicated, deeply layered, and flawed hero. She has significant amounts of power that she often unintentionally misuses. She is stubborn and used to doing things her own way.

Apple TV+’s Foundation series, adapted from Isaac Asimov’s books of the same name, has captivated fans with its dense sci-fi lore, stunning visuals, complex philosophical themes, and galaxy-changing narrative. The show explores the gradual collapse of the Cleonic Dynasty as predicted by mathematician Hari Seldon’s invention—psychohistory.
This fall of the Empire is juxtaposed by the gradual rise of Seldon’s Foundation, which aims to protect a collection of human knowledge called the Encyclopedia Galactica.
With two seasons in the bag and a third currently airing, fans of the Foundation series want more mind-bending, expansive sci-fi tales. Thankfully, there are lore-filled, galaxy-spanning TV shows with the same themes of rebellion, fate, destiny, and more. So, here are seven TV shows that will engross you in their complex worlds, and you will be forced to question the future of humanity.

Battlestar Galacticaactress Katee Sackhoff recently shared her candid thoughts about the problematic way she was treated during a photoshoot. A main member of the Battlestar Galactica cast, Sackhoff played Viper pilot Kara "Starbuck" Thrace throughout all four seasons of the show.
Yesterday, Sackhoff took to Instagram to share images from a photoshoot she posed in with Battlestar Galactica co-stars Tricia Helfer and Grace Park. In the post, Sackhoff described the hurt she felt after a costumer referred to her as "the big girl", saying, "I felt humiliated. Exposed. Disgusting."
The Starbuck actress continued to say that though this was the most confrontational comment on her body, it was not an isolated incident, and that this behavior speaks to the darker side of the Hollywood industry as a whole. Sackhoff concluded her post by saying that she is committed to raising her daughter to feel "powerful" — "Because I deserved better. And so does she.

What Do We Know About the upcoming series adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Carrie? More than you may think. The Prime Video series from The Life of Chuck and The Haunting of Hill House filmmaker Mike Flanagan is set to be his fourth take on a work by King. From plot, casting news, and more, let’s dive in and look at what is coming up in the adaptation of the classic horror novel.
Why another remake of Carrie?
Despite Brian De Palma’s 1976 adaptation remaining a classic horror film, multiple variations of Stephen King’s debut novel have made their way to audiences. From a sequel in 1999 to remakes in both 2002 and 2013, as well as a stage musical, Flanagan’s series takes a “bold and timely reimagining” of the book. What this entails remains to be seen. But, we do know that Flanagan has a reverence for Stephen...

Which Star Wars Actor Found Hollywood Fame After A Tragic Injury Changed Her Life? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Katee Sackhoff had zero plans of being on-screen before she suited up as Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian. Her goals were locked on something totally different — Olympic-sized, even. However, life threw a curve when a brutal injury pulled her off track. What followed was unexpected: one small audition, and suddenly she was orbiting Hollywood instead of diving into swimming lanes.
Katee Sackoff’s Sports Injury: A Casting Call & An Accidental Hollywood Break
Sackhoff (now known worldwide for her Star Wars role) was originally trained to be a professional swimmer. Her aim, early on, was competitive-level sports, possibly the Olympics. But that route shut down when she dislocated both knees at 16. The injury ended her swim journey permanently.

The Annihilation of Fish (Charles Burnett)
Essentially a lost film, legendary director Charles Burnett’s 1999 feature The Annihilation of Fish mostly lived on the festival circuit (and in bootlegs) for a quarter-century until a recent miraculous restoration by the UCLA Film & Television Archive and The Film Foundation. Despite featuring recognizable leads in James Earl Jones and Lynn Redgrave, one bad review from an influential critic (who seemed strangely wary of the film’s tonal risk-taking) was enough to sink its commercial prospects for potential distributors. A mental-illness romantic comedy of sorts, the film has a strangeness that may be potentially alienating to some, but it seems inexplicable, years later, that a work which so movingly wears its heart on its sleeve...

With an 88% Rotten Tomatoes score and six gritty seasons under its belt, Katee Sackhoff’s Longmire is the Western gem Netflix fans keep sleeping on. Before Yellowstone roped everyone in with cowboy drama and power plays, Longmire was already serving up small-town justice, dusty standoffs, and brooding sheriffs with emotional baggage.

Carrie, the subject of author Stephen King’s first published novel and one of the greatest female icons in the horror genre, is coming back – and this time Mike Flanagan is the one taking her to prom. It was announced last October that Flanagan was working with King to turn the story of Carrie into an eight episode series that will be released through Amazon’s Prime Video service. Flanagan is executive producing the series with Trevor Macy. Deadline noted at the time, “They’re opening a writer’s room, so this one’s happening quickly.” Since then, the show received the official greenlight from Prime Video and has been assembling its cast. Just last week, we heard that filming would begin in a matter of days – and sure enough, Flanagan started the week by confirming that filming has begun!

When The Mandalorian Season 3’s episode “The Pirate” aired on Disney+ in April 2023, it gave Star Wars fans something cool. Bo-Katan Kryze, played by Katee Sackhoff, finally shared a scene with Greef Karga, the sharp-tongued magistrate played by the late Carl Weathers. What we didn’t know at the time was that behind the scenes, things got a little too real for the cast. Speaking on The Sackhoff Show with The Mandalorian stunt double Brendan Wayne (the body double for Din Djarin), Sackhoff revealed that during the shoot, Carl Weathers looked her dead in the eye and said she was… “boring.” “Do you remember that day on set when Carl told me that I was boring?” the clip starts. Wayne bursts into laughter and covers his face. “Yes! Yes,” he replies, turning red. Apollo Creed, Dillon from Predator and Action Jackson himself told Katee Sackhoff she was boring. But...

The Life of Chuck is easily Mike Flanagan’s least scary offering, which is interesting to note considering the new adaptation of Stephen King’s novella is set around the pending apocalypse. What it is, however, is Flanagan’s coziest and most gentle offering, which helps explain why the drama won the highly coveted People’s Choice award at last fall’s Toronto International Film Festival – and could ride a wave of strong reviews into this fall’s Oscar race.
Prior to Chuck, of course, Flanagan has worked exclusively in the stuff of nightmares, becoming one of the horror’s world’s most revered writer-directors thanks to genre favorites on screens big and small.
In our latest edition of The Gold Standard, Flanagan looks back at 20-plus years of filmmaking, from his humble beginnings on the shoestring-budgeted debut Absentia to a horrific experience making Haunting of Hill House to his award-wining latest offering Chuck,...

One of the cast members is Matthew Lillard (Scream) as Principal Grayle, and during a recent interview with One Take, Lillard revealed that the show will be filming by the end of the month!

Mike Flanagan is a modern-day horror master and the man behind some of the scariest contemporary horror movies and series like Hush, The Haunting of Hill House, and Doctor Sleep. The filmmaker serves as showrunner, director, and editor of many of his works, and has been a leading voice in the genre.
Flanagan was already one movie old when he made his breakthrough film Oculus. It starred Karen Gillan, Brenton Thwaites, and Katee Sackhoff in lead roles. Flanagan’s wife and frequent collaborator Kate Siegel also contributed in a supporting role. Sackhoff revealed that though she loved the part, she had a panic attack while on the set of Oculus.

Mike Flanagan is assembling his cast for his upcoming adaptation of Carrie, and he’s bringing back a lot of familiar faces for the horror series!
He has quickly made his name as a modern-day master of horror. He wrote and directed several films like Oculus, Ouija, Gerald’s Game, and Doctor Sleep. Flanagan has really made his mark on television with his Netflix series The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, The Midnight Club, and The Fall of the House of Usher.
Each project was inventive, scary, thought-provoking, and boasting a first-rate cast to win over viewers. They ranged from adapting works like Edgar Allen Poe to more original storylines while still enthralling those watching.
Now, Flanagan is ready to take on a famous property in Carrie. The upcoming eight-episode Prime Video series will star Summer Howell in the title role of a troubled teen.

Everyone’s favorite cyborg Sith apprentice is getting his very own animated show. Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord is slated for a 2026 release. Details are currently few and far between, but we know that the series will take place in the Imperial era and that Maul may take on an apprentice of his own.
For now, we are left only to speculate on what the plot details are, but we are able to piece together quite a bit from what little we know, much in thanks to Darth Maul’s longtime voice actor Sam Witwer.
Witwer, who has played various Star Wars roles, first came to be the voice of Maul in season four of The Clone Wars and has portrayed the character ever since. His return in the animated show gave us a deeply expanded view of the character who previously had very little depth. Indeed, in his...

Brent Spiner may have stolen many of the scenes his character, Dr. Brakish Okun, was in in Independence Day and its sequel, Independence Day: Resurgence. But, he is most well known for portraying Commander Data, an android, beginning in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Brent Spiner quotes Sean Connery in regard to portraying Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Picard. Spiner began portraying Lt. Commander Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and the lovable android became one of the show's most popular characters. Despite his heroic death in Star Trek: Nemesis, Data made a triumphant return in Star Trek: Picard season 3, reuniting with his former USS Enterprise-d crew members.
Complete with an upgraded android body with the ability to experience emotions, Data finally achieved his lifelong dream of becoming (almost) human. Still, it remains to be seen what his Star Trek future holds. In a recent appearance on The Sackhoff Show, Brent Spiner spoke to host Katee Sackhoff about portraying Data and why he decided to reprise the role in Picard season 3. Read Spiner's quotes and watch the video below:

Heroes in Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord are few and far between.
Appearing on Katee Sackhoff's podcast, longtime Maul voice actor Sam Witwer addressed what this new chapter in the ex-Sith's life will entail and the challenges confronting Maul as he grows his criminal empire amidst the Galactic Empire's rise. We’re not doing that," he said, with the novel twist being how Shadow Lord questions "is he as bad as Sidious or Vader? And the answer is 'actually no.

Sam Witwer, who has portrayed Maul since the character's return in The Clone Wars, will reprise the role in the tentative 2026 release.
Maul met a fitting end for the second time at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi, his lifelong arch-nemesis, in the sands of Tatooine. But the death and complexity of the character are gifts that seemingly keep giving, and now we stand on the precipice of having an entire show on him. If you can't believe it, neither could Witwer himself.
During a recent appearance on Katee Sackhoff's (Bo-Katan Kryze) The Sackhoff Show, the 47-year-old actor revealed that the series...

Back in April during Star Wars Celebration Japan, Lucasfilm announced that a new animated series based on the post-Clone Wars, pre-Star Wars Rebels adventures of Darth Maul was in the works for Disney+.
The synopsis for Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord that was released at the time reads: "After the Clone Wars, Maul plots to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire. In a new series set after the events of the final season of The Clone Wars, Maul rises again to lead the underworld factions."
The show is believed to be set roughly one year after the events of The Clone Wars, around 19 Bby.
Now, voice actor Sam Witwer has shared some more details, and he clarifies that Maul will not be sanitized or redeemed as some fans feared - although it sounds like the character's humanity will be explored to some extent.

When it first came out back in 2019, The Mandalorian proved to be among the finer additions to the Star Wars lore, perfectly brought to the screens by Jon Favreau. Led by Pedro Pascal as the titular character, it has earned remarkable praise from fans and critics worldwide. In fact, even James Cameron couldn’t help but praise it.
Yet, while Cameron became one of the people shell-shocked by the cast’s performance, he was actually the most blown away by the one star who rarely gets any credit because Pascal seems to take home all the acclaim, being the face of the main character. This one star was none other than the one in Din Djarin’s suit, Brendan Wayne.
