Evil Dead in Concert: Sam Raimi classic is going on tour with live musical accompaniment
Image
Black Ink Presents, a division of Terrapin Station Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment, has announced that it will be “resurrecting Sam Raimi’s beloved classic The Evil Dead in a way audiences have never seen before — in this lifetime. Evil Dead in Concert launches September 22 in Buffalo, New York as screams meet strings in 50 cities this fall, including a special three night event in Los Angeles for Halloween. The screening of the legendary cult film in a newly restored format is brought to life on stage while a live ensemble performs the entire original musical score from composer Joe LoDuca. Tickets are on sale at EvilDeadinConcert.com.

Written and directed by Raimi, the original The Evil Dead has the following synopsis: Ash, his girlfriend Linda, his sister Cheryl, and couple Scotty and Shelly, drive to a remote cabin in the woods for a fun getaway. While there, they find the...

"Dead End": Bruce Campbell Reacts to a Disappointing Evil Dead Franchise Update
Image
Not so groovy news for fans of The Evil Dead. Nearly three years after its release to critical acclaim, Saber Interactive's asymmetrical survival horror title Evil Dead: The Game is being pulled from Steam, Sony, and other digital storefronts with no reason given behind the removal. The developer confirmed the news on Wednesday, thanking supporters and writing, "Anyone who has purchased the game will still be able to play it as we plan to keep our servers online for everyone.” Since the axing of sales, Bruce Campbell, who reprized his role as Ash Williams for the game, has reacted to the adaptation's end, writing, "Dead end."

Evil Dead: The Game was notable for a few reasons. For Campbell, it marked his first time properly stepping back into the shoes of his Deadite-slaying hero since the end of Ash vs Evil Dead in 2018. It wasn't just him, either, as the...

Bruce Campbell shares groovy behind-the-scenes tales of iconic The Evil Dead poster
Image
The horror genre tends to have some of the most iconic movie posters ever: The Exorcist, Halloween, Alien, the list goes on. And certainly one in the discussion is The Evil Dead, which sees Cheryl (Ellen Sandweiss) being pulled into the ground by an undead hand. So what’s the backstory on this incredible art? Bruce Campbell has the entire history.

As you know, we here at JoBlo.com love movie artwork, so when Campbell took to social media to address a photo shoot from The Evil Dead that someone posted, we were ecstatic to get more information on how it came about and how it turned into the famous poster. As Campbell wrote, “This pix was taken in a chilly Ferndale, Michigan warehouse studio, early 80s, by old pal Mike Ditz because we had no publicity shots for our first flick, Evil Dead. It’s the basis for the poster,...

How To Watch The Evil Dead Movies And TV Shows In Order
Image
One can indeed watch each installment in Sam Raimi's celebrated "Evil Dead" franchise in the order of their release, but it might not help keep the continuity clear. The actual narrative throughline of the "Evil Dead" movies is a little hazy throughout, and each new movie might serve as a soft reboot of the one that came before it. The ending of one movie doesn't clearly link to the next, and the main character of Ash (Bruce Campbell) doesn't seem to learn or grow from his experiences. Indeed, Ash only appears to get dumber and more selfish with every outing. The already-weak continuity then becomes especially messy when one starts factoring in director's edits and alternate endings that only sort of count toward the franchise's central canon. One can also, if they were ambitious, include short films that Sam Raimi made when he was a teenager. He is an iconoclast.

The Hellboy Movie Nobody Saw Is Dominating Hulu's Top Charts
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Last year's "Hellboy: The Crooked Man" seemed like a new low for the demonic hero. Shot for a low $20 million budget with little known actors, the movie's trailers suggested even the film's meager funds had been stretched thin. The dull as dishwater color grading was especially disappointing for a movie adapting comics known for their striking art. "The Crooked Man" ultimately skipped a theatrical release in the United States, going straight to VOD on October 8, 2024.

It seemed like that would be the ignominious end of the "Hellboy" films for a while — or maybe not, because Hulu viewers are coming to Big Red's rescue. According to FlixPatrol, "Hellboy: The Crooked Man" debuted at #1 on the platform stateside on March 10, 2025, and stayed there before dropping to #4 as of March 13.

Directed by Brian Taylor, "Hellboy: The Crooked Man" was co-written by its director,...

Evil Dead pinball machine is coming from Spooky Pinball!
Image
A few years ago, Spooky Pinball LLC created a pinball machine inspired by John Carpenter’s 1978 classic Halloween, and a while back they also built a Texas Chainsaw Massacre pinball machine, inspired by Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic. Now, they’re continuing their journey through some of the greatest horror movies ever made, as they’ve revealed that their latest pinball machine is inspired by Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead franchise!

Here’s the information: Evil Dead Pinball is a wide body pinball machine set in the world of the first two films of the iconic franchise, The Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn. Bruce Campbell Pokes Fun at George Lucas With Evil Dead/Star Wars Comparison
Image
The Evil Dead saga has taken a lot of twists and turns throughout the years, and what began in a small cabin in the woods is now a full-blown franchise that will see at least two more films at some point in the near future. Though it remains to be seen how those movies will fit into the overall timeline of the series, original star Bruce Campbell says theyre not that complicated to understand, at least, not on the level of Star Wars, which director George Lucas shot out of order something he gladly took a tongue-in-cheek jab at in a recent interview with ScreenRant.

Touching on the future of the Evil Dead franchise, Campbell explained that the sequels will always feature a few Easter eggs that tie back into the original trilogy, thus connecting them all together in some form or fashion, even if they dont necessarily continue the...

Bruce Campbell Confirms Two New Evil Dead Projects Are Coming
Image
By the looks of it, iconic horror legend Bruce Campbell is fated to play Ash Williams yet again in other iterations of The Evil Dead. During an interview with MovieWeb about his upcoming role in Peacocks bone-chilling fright fest, Hysteria!, Campbell was candid about whether hed ever play Ash again in some iteration should the film's original director, Sam Raimi, take on the project.

We can't hide the movies anymore, Campbell mused. The last one we made [2023s Evil Dead Rise] made the most of any Evil Dead movie, so we'd be silly to stop now. So, we've got two more in the pipeline and a possible animated series as well.

Its the latter that currently has the internet buzzing as Campbell has admitted that hed happily lend his voice to the endeavor, adding:

My voice is not aged as much as I have, and my voice doesn't mind saying lines...

10 Horror Movies That Were Clearly Inspired By Night Of The Living Dead
Image
George A. Romero is considered by many to be the Godfather of the horror movie monster, zombies. Though the term was used before, it was not until Night of the Living Dead in 1968 that it began to take shape in the way many know it today. It marked a shift in the cultural landscape of horror movies, where most of the contributions were B movies designed to make audiences laugh at ridiculous monsters and over-the-top performances.

Most of the rules surrounding zombies were established in this first outing, with many filmmakers maintaining these self-evident laws of the walking dead. However, not every horror film is a zombie film, and there were still many different aspects in Night of the Living Dead that paved the way for future horror classics. From introducing social commentary to a genre that hadn't used it before, to a drastic increase in the level of graphic violence seen on screen.

The Best Classic Horror Movies, Ranked
Image
Since the earliest days of film, horror has been a leading genre for audiences when it comes to fun, delivering a combination of scares, chills, and even laughs. The genre plays into the deepest fears of viewers, bringing them terrors that range from vampires and demons to zombies and masked men with knives or machetes. Although horror is best known today for its big, sprawling franchises, the earlier days of the genre produced a series of brilliant original films.

Horror can cover a diverse range of concepts and themes, with some serving as social commentary, while others exist purely to terrify audiences. Some of the film industry's best careers have been built through the horror genre, whether it's iconic actors getting their big break as monsters or directors revitalizing their careers there. Many of the genre's greatest films come from the older days of Hollywood, and they have endured as the masterpieces that they are.

Every Evil Dead Movie, Game, and Book, Ranked
Image
For the most part, Evil Dead movies are considered horror comedies, and while they contain plenty of humor, they work as legitimately scary films. What makes the Evil Dead universe so unique is that, despite the trademark slapstick antics, the danger is real. They feature shocking jump scares, horrifying monsters, and gory violence that brings genuine terror between the laughs.

While director and creator Sam Raimi's unconventional vision attracted fans, it was the central character of Ash Williams, played brilliantly by Bruce Campbell, that drew a rabid cult following. When friends Raimi and Campbell got together to film a low-budget horror in the early 1980s, nobody, especially them, could have predicted that it would turn into The Evil Dead multimedia franchise, which is still going strong more than 40 years later.

Francis Galluppi Talks His Evil Dead Spin-Off Film: 'I'm Really Excited'
Image
Fans can expect not one, but two new Evil Dead spin-off films with directors sharing their love for the franchise. Director Francis Galluppi reveals how the original Evil Dead inspired him to pursue filmmaking as fun and attainable. With a new film on the horizon, Galluppi expresses excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the iconic series.

Less than two weeks ago, it was reported that another Evil Dead spin-off film is in the works with The Last Stop in Yuma County director, Francis Galluppi, attached to direct. The news came as somewhat of a surprise, given that earlier this year a spin-off directed by Sbastien Vaniek was also announced. Now, Galluppi has commented on his Evil Dead movie, and why hes such a fan of the series.

Speaking with Comicbook.com, Galluppi wasnt able to go into any detail about his upcoming Evil Dead film, but he did...

Evil Dead Spin-Off Director Cautiously Addresses Movie’s Connection to the Rest of the Horror Franchise
Image
Sébastien Vaniek says they're still "in the early process of the writing," regarding the Evil Dead spin-off. Consequently, the filmmaker can't say if the upcoming Evil Dead entry will connect to other movies in the horror franchise. Vaniek promises the Evil Dead spin-off will be "a nasty film," which could potentially drop in theaters for Halloween 2025.

Mommy might be with the maggots in Evil Dead Rise, but Sébastien Vaniček won’t deny or confirm if his upcoming Evil Dead spin-off will be connected to any of the other movies in the horror franchise. Certainly, Vaniček could be keeping certain details under wraps to avoid divulging spoilers. But the truth is that he and his collaborator (Florent Bernard) "are in the early process of the writing." So, there's not an answer to that question at this time, according to Vaniček. The filmmaker addressed the inquiry while promoting the premiere of Infested,...

Evil Dead Director Says Spin-Off Could Drop in 2025
Image
Director Sébastien Vaniek says his Evil Dead spin-off could open in theaters just in time for Halloween 2025. Vaniek expresses his desire to make a brutal and cathartic horror film, and hopes that its success will open doors for him to explore genres outside of horror in the future. Evil Dead Rise was a financial success, earning $147 million worldwide, thanks in no small part to some of its memorable dialogue, including: "Mommy's with the maggots now."

How groovy is this, Ash? French filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček has been tasked with directing a brand-new Evil Dead spin-off movie, which he promises will be “a film that hurts.” Vaniček also revealed that producer and Evil Dead creator Sam Raimi is giving him “100% creative freedom” and allowing for a “French twist” to be incorporated into the 40+ year Evil Dead legacy. Plus, Vaniček said his spin-off could start filming later this year and be ready for...

'Well, Hello Mr. Fancy Pants!' Bruce Campbell Teases Brand-New Evil Dead Movies ‘Every Two to Three Years’
Image
According to Bruce Campbell, more Evil Dead movies will be released every couple of years. Campbell will continue serving the series as a producer, but Ash Williams will not be returning. Evil Dead Rise was a box office hit and received positive reviews from both audiences and critics, despite the absence of Campbell's indelible character, Ash.

Fans don’t have to "shop smart, shop S-Mart" to know that the Evil Dead film franchise continues to kill it over 40 years after the original movie horrified unsuspecting audiences back in 1981. And while the series’ irreplaceable protagonist Ash Williams, who is played by the incomparable Bruce Campbell, didn’t show up in the last installment — Does hearing his voice coming from that vinyl record really count? — Evil Dead Rise executive producer Campbell and the franchise's creator, Sam Raimi, plan on serving up even more Evil Dead films every couple of years. 10 Things Directors Regret About Their Famous Movies
Image
Sam Raimi regrets the infamous 'tree scene' in The Evil Dead, calling it unnecessary, gratuitous, and too brutal. Ridley Scott has misgivings about different cuts of Blade Runner and released his own director's cut for full control. David Lynch disowned the 1984 adaptation of Dune due to studio interference and regrets not having the final cut.

Content Warning: This article contains discussion of sexual assault.

When making a feature film, no director wants to feel regret once the finished product hits theaters, even if that movie is a beloved one. Unfortunately, over the years, many famous filmmakers have been left dissatisfied, disappointed, or distraught with aspects of the movie that they ended up producing. It is a hard pill to swallow when a production that has been running for months starts to go astray, things are not quite coming together as planned, or difficulties arise between the cast and crew.

Evil Dead: The Game won’t be adding any new content, Nintendo Switch plans abandoned
Kevin Bacon, Adrienne King, Ari Lehman, Robbi Morgan, Betsy Palmer, and Jeannine Taylor in Friday the 13th (1980)
It was heartbreaking when the copyright dispute between original Friday the 13th producer/director Sean S. Cunningham and screenwriter Victor Miller came up and brought any further development of the extremely cool Friday the 13th video game to a screeching halt. Now here’s another franchise video game heartbreaker: the folks at Saber Interactive have announced that they won’t be developing any new content for Evil Dead: The Game, and plans to bring the game to Nintendo Switch have been abandoned.

Here’s the announcement:

— EvilDeadTheGame (@EvilDeadTheGame) September 19, 2023

No information was given on exactly why Saber had decided to set aside any further development of the game. It would be odd if there are licensing issues, because the rights to the overall Evil Dead franchise seem to be rather clear cut: they’re owned by franchise creator Sam Raimi, producer Rob Tapert, and star Bruce Campbell.

10 Horror Movies That Were Flawless Except For A Single Scene
Image
Movies primarily depend on the suspension of disbelief. Audiences tacitly know that movies are alternative realities. The narrative fidelity closely enough resembles the real world. However, there is an undercurrent of movie logic necessary to make most anything successful. While some modern audiences fancy themselves Cinema Sins-lite, dismissing most releases for the most arbitrary of continuity errors, that's not, and never has been, how movies should be watched.

Still, some films, even flawless ones, serve up moments that feel out of step with the rest of the movie. These scenes comparatively fall flat, often undermining what's come before or after. Here, we'll look at 10 flawless horror classics with single scenes that come across as out of place. That doesn't render these movies bad. If anything, it's a testament to the strong work elsewhere. Scaring people is hard, and these 10 movies almost got it perfect.

Evil Dead Rise Pays Homage To The Franchise's Most Notorious Scene, And Not In The Way You'd Expect
Image
This post contains spoilers for "Evil Dead Rise," as well as discussions of sexual assault.

The influence that the "Evil Dead" franchise has had on horror cannot be understated. What originally started off as a low-budget, DIY film among friends turned into a cult franchise, arguably helping to position the genre as one of flexibility and ingenuity. That doesn't necessarily mean that every aspect of the franchise is worth celebrating. Even if the 1981 original was a watershed moment for independent horror filmmaking, its pivotal scene showing how Cheryl (Ellen Sandweiss) is possessed after a brutal rape by tree branches has been the topic of controversy for decades. As much as the film was heralded for its practical effects and seemingly-effortless genre-bending, it was also rightfully criticized for its depiction of misogynistic sexual violence, just another horror movie that seemingly used real pain for "cheap" scares.

It should be noted that...

‘Evil Dead’ (2013) vs. ‘Evil Dead Rise’ (2023): Which Film Is Gorier?
Image
The following contains major spoilers for Evil Dead (2013) and Evil Dead Rise (2023).

Of the many horror franchises, few are as creatively violent as The Evil Dead. Sam Raimi’s 1981 original garnered an Nc-17 rating for “substantial horror violence and gore” and Stephen King described the low-budget indie as “the most ferociously original horror film of the year.” The film follows Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell), his sister, and three friends as they travel to a cabin in the remote woods and accidentally summon demons with an incantation from the Book of the Dead.

In 2013, Fede Alvarez directed the fourth franchise installation, Evil Dead, a remake/sequel following Mia (Jane Levy), her brother, and three friends in a similarly doomed cabin. Ten years later, the Deadites have returned to the big screen with Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise which tells a stand-alone story about a similar Book of the Dead. Found...

The 5 Evil Dead Movies, Ranked
Image
There’s a kind of shaggy glory to Evil Dead: Sam Raimi’s demonic scary movie series spawned from the writer/director’s triumphant indie horror marvel from 1981. Starring childhood friend Bruce Campbell and shot in the Tennessee wilderness with next to no budget, the inaugural outing with Raimi’s Necronomicon (aka Book of the Dead) and its flesh-ripping Deadites — also known by the original film’s title, “The Evil Dead” — established a formula for four more films with immeasurable influence on skin-peeling, tendon-snapping, chainsaw-revving pop culture as we know it.

The first film sees final guy Ash Williams (Campbell), his sister Cheryl (Ellen Sandweiss), his girlfriend Linda (Betsy Baker), and friends Scott (Richard DeManincor) and Shelly (Theresa Tilly) heading out for a stay at a remote cabin. Once there, a cursed book and tape summons a demonic presence that slowly begins to feast on the souls of the unlucky travelers one by one.

Evil Dead Rise Ending Explained: Coming Around Again
Image
This article contains massive spoilers for "Evil Dead Rise."As much as we humans love to champion our capacity for free will, life is inevitably made up of events that occur without our intent, and beyond our control. We can all attempt to make a plan for how our lives will go, but in the end, living is as much reacting as it is acting.

These seismic events that change the course of one's life don't necessarily have to be traumatic. For those in the "Evil Dead" universe, however, trauma is an unfortunately perennial thing. The latest installment of the franchise, "Evil Dead Rise," sees writer/director Lee Cronin soft-reboot the series yet again after 2013's "Evil Dead" and the 2015-18 TV series "Ash vs Evil Dead." This too is par for the course: one could argue that, despite numerous bits of connective tissue, every "Evil Dead" film contains a little continuity rebooting.

Jane Levy in Evil Dead (2013)

We can converse about whether or not the controversial scene from 1981’s The Evil Dead should exist (Sam Raimi even later said he regretted it) but the fact is that it does and it is horrifying. I included both the original and remake scene here because A) I’m a coward and this is a cop out,...

One Of The Scariest Scenes In The Evil Dead Is A Nasty Finale
Image
(Welcome to Scariest Scene Ever, a column dedicated to the most pulse-pounding moments in horror with your tour guides, horror experts Chris Evangelista and Matt Donato. In this edition, Matt returns to the original "The Evil Dead.")

In keeping with the "Evil Dead" theme in preparation for "Evil Dead Rise" on April 21, let's return to where it all began. Sam Raimi's "The Evil Dead" is an infamous video nasty that started one of horror's most beloved franchises. Between the original trilogy, Fede Álvarez's requel, and "Ash vs Evil Dead," there's something for everyone starting with a low-budget darling that held nothing back. It's grotesque, unbelievably scrappy, and inventive in the face of financial shortcomings. "The Evil Dead" is a miracle, so let's treat it like one.

"The Evil Dead" is Raimi's first and least comedic of the original trilogy. Practical effects can be more traumatizing than blending over-the-top humor and extravagant goriness.

Jane Levy in Evil Dead (2013)
Blood Sisters: The Ladies of ‘Evil Dead Rise’ Unite With Jane Levy from ‘Evil Dead’ 2013! [Photo]
Jane Levy in Evil Dead (2013)
The Evil Dead franchise has long been a female-forward horror franchise, even with Bruce Campbell typically leading the charge. Ellen Sandweiss, Betsy Baker and Theresa Tilly from Sam Raimi’s original The Evil Dead have been collectively dubbed “The Ladies of The Evil Dead,” and 2013’s remake of course gave us a new franchise icon in Jane Levy’s Mia.

This year’s new movie Evil Dead Rise brings Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan into the mix as the latest ladies of The Evil Dead, and Sutherland just shared a pretty awesome photo over on Twitter this past weekend. Sutherland and Sullivan recently got together with remake star Jane Levy, the trio taking a photo together as the latest “Evil Dead blood sisters.”

To be clear, Jane Levy is Not featured in Evil Dead Rise, so don’t read too much into the photo. It’s just a fun personal...

Why Evil Dead 2013 Kept That Tree Scene Raimi Wished He Hadn't Filmed
Image
Trigger Warning: The article contains references to sexual assault and rape.

The 2013 Evil Dead remake controversially kept the most infamous scene from Sam Raimi's original 1981 The Evil Dead. The original The Evil Dead sequence saw Cheryl (Ellen Sandweiss), Ash Williams' sister, go out into the woods to investigate a series of strange noises. Alone, Cheryl is assaulted by the demonically-possessed trees before escaping to the cabin. The scene has been singled out by fans and critics alike for its gratuity and brutality, even Sam Raimi publicly criticizing The Evil Dead's tree scene.

Despite the negative reaction to the scene in the original The Evil Dead, 2013's Evil Dead remakes the scene. While Fede Alvarez's version of the sequence is far less graphic than the original, many Evil Dead fans questioned the creative decision behind why the heavily-criticized sequence remained in the remake. However, it seems that neither...

How Army Of Darkness Rebooted The Evil Dead Franchise Yet Again
Image
(For the 30th anniversary of Sam Raimi's "Army of Darkness," we're looking back at some scary and funny anecdotes about the movie this week).

Both "Evil Dead II" and "Army of Darkness" open with recaps, explaining the story of Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) up to where the previous film left off. This is a necessity since both "The Evil Dead" and "Evil Dead II" end with cliffhangers; in the first, Ash is ambushed by an Unseen Force, while in the second he's sent back to medieval times. This mandated an explanation in each subsequent movie for viewers unacquainted with the series. But there's a catch to this: The story is never quite the same in any of the three films.

"Evil Dead II" opens with a reshot version of the first film, one that condenses its beats into 10 minutes: Ash goes out to a cabin in the woods, awakens...

The Evil Dead Ending Explained: The Definitive Cabin In The Woods Horror, Even 40 Years Later
Image
In 1978, close friends Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, who shared a history of filming low-budget shorts on Super 8 mm, decided to approach the horror genre with newfound zest. With prior experience directing only comedic films, Raimi started working on a proof-of-concept horror short to attract investor attention and cast Campbell and Ellen Sandweiss as its leads. This project was titled "Within the Woods," which followed a group of friends vacationing at a remote cabin in the woods who experience demonic possession and unimaginable horrors. After the short managed to raise enough money from investors, Raimi fleshed out the initial premise into his low-budget, DIY feature-length horror debut, "The Evil Dead." Upon its release, the face of horror changed forever.

From a narrative perspective, "The Evil Dead" relies on traditional horror tropes that often segue into characters making really dumb decisions that eventually seal their fates. Moreover, the central source of threat in the film,...

How “Ash vs. Evil Dead” Proved ‘Evil Dead’ Is the Gift That Keeps on Giving [TV Terrors]
Image
Groovy! For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit “Ash vs. Evil Dead“, the three-season television series that aired on the Starz Network from 2015 through 2018.

One of the most sobering moments of “Ash vs. Evil Dead” came in the original introduction by franchise star Bruce Campbell, who explained that the series was made because fans wouldn’t shut up. Indeed, fans had been asking for years for another adventure with Ashley Williams after Army of Darkness, and the team finally obliged in 2015. The climate was right for the return of the Evil Dead at the time as studios and television networks were investing in horror series. Developed by Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi, and Tom Spezialy, Starz’s “Ash vs. Evil Dead” wasn’t just a dry run for fans. The series was a return to form for the Evil Dead series, one that never betrayed its source material...

Evil Dead: The Game adding Army of Darkness single player mission and Blacksmith character
David Allen in The Crater Lake Monster (1977)
Just last month, Evil Dead: The Game was updated to add the characters of Mia and David Allen from the 2013 Evil Dead movie. This month, it’s going to receiving the “Hail to the King” update – and it’s quite appropriate that the update is named after a line from Army of Darkness, because it involves the addition of an Army of Darkness-inspired single player mission and a character from Army of Darkness!

The new single player mission has the following description: “Castle Kandar’s Witch has opened a rift in time and space. Henry the Red must put her to the sword to save mankind.“

The Army of Darkness character who is being added to the game is The Blacksmith. In the film, the Blacksmith was played by Timothy Patrick Quill, who unfortunately passed away last year at the age of 63. It’s a nice tribute to Quill that...

Sam Raimi Shot An Entirely Separate Film To Find Funding For The Evil Dead
Image
The making of "The Evil Dead" and its subsequent release is considered one of the best Cinderella stories in filmmaking history. After all, how does an entirely DIY project made entirely by friends end up becoming a multimedia franchise, launching the careers of several people involved? It just doesn't happen all that often, and it's a miracle that Sam Raimi and his band of misfits managed to create something so revolutionary in the horror genre with as little money as they had.

But what's a bit lesser known is how they ended up getting that money in the first place. In an interview from 1990, Raimi said that he had shot the movie for just 375,000, the equivalent of around 1.2 million today. While a lot of money in its own right, it is a drop in the bucket in the filmmaking world, and even then, Raimi had to find a way to...

Now more details on the game’s versions of these characters have been revealed!

Here’s the information on Mia: “All that anger, all that terror – now, she’s learned how to use them. Her abilities include converting her own fear into damage and complete resistance to demon possession.”

And here’s the information on David, whose arrival in the game coincides with the arrival of a new weapon, the nail gun: “Whatever it takes, David will be there until the end. His team-boosting...

Could Bruce Campbell be playing Ash in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?
Image
With the web being flooded with adoration for Wandavision and strong speculation about past Spider-Man stars Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their roles as the infamous webslinger alongside Tom Holland in Spiderman: No Way Home, the MCU seems set to embrace the magic, wonder and many possibilities of the multiverse.

This tantalising concept is not so new to theoretical astrophysics, but is being more widely embraced by cinema superhero franchises, what with Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck set to re-don their capes to play Batman in DC’s upcoming The Flash movie and Brandon Routh having already reprised his role as Superman in Crisis on Infinite Earths.

But could Marvel be about to cast its multiverse net even wider by incorporating another film series into its all-encompassing realm?

Online rumours were recently ignited about Ash vs Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell travelling to the UK to appear in his...
