As it turns out, 1997 was a distinctive and extraordinary year for Tamil cinema. There was no shortage of critically acclaimed movies or blockbusters. A high was guaranteed practically every time you went to the theatre. Back then, before the age of social media, the movie-watching experience was so pure and so highly anticipated that satisfaction was always on the cards.

KollywoodThe fantasy adventure thriller is in its post-production stage.Digital NativeDigital NativeAfter making a mark with his directorial debut Moodar Koodam, a dark comedy, actor-director Naveen Kumar is ready with his second project. Titled Alaudhinin Arputha Camera, the film is believed to be a fantasy adventure thriller. Talking to the New Indian Express, Naveen said: “We’ve completed the shooting and the film is in its post-production stage right now. We shot the film in Switzerland, Italy, and Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, Germany, Ukraine and Slovenia. The first look poster will be released soon.” This is Naveen’s third directorial. His second film Kolanji, featuring Samuthirakani and Sanghavi in the lead, is yet to find a theatrical release. Meanwhile, Naveen’s next film will be with Vijay Antony. In April, the announcement of this project was made via a statement. The yet-untitled project, which has been confirmed as an action thriller, will be produced by T Siva of Amma Creations, and it will go on the floors from July. This will be an interesting combo to watch out for as Naveen made head turns with Moodar Koodam, a dark comedy that tread a very unconventional path in Tamil cinema. Vijay Antony, who is currently shooting for Thimiru Pudichavan, will don khaki for the first time in his career. The project, to be directed by Ganesha, a former associate of SS Rajamouli, went on floors in February. Antony learned silambam, ancient stick-based martial arts popular in Tamil Nadu, to essay his part and he’ll use this skill in some action sequences in the film. The shoot of this project is on the brink of completion and once wrapped up, Antony will commence work on Naveen’s film. (Content provided by Digital Native)...
