Maria Sapundzhieva was born in Varna on June 6,1969. In 1992, she graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia, Bulgaria in the class of Professor Atanas Ilkov . She has worked in First Private Theatre "La Strada", in Little City Theatre "Off the Channel" . There are many theater roles, including in the plays "Urbuleshka tragedy" of Dushan Kovachevich , "Big Magic" by Edward de Filippo , "Tanya, Tanya" by Olya Mukhina , "Robbers" by Friedrich Schiller , "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare . In 1997, Sapundzhieva received the prize of Union of Bulgarian Actors for his role in "Tanya, Tanya" . In 2001, she won the Award " Asker " for Supporting actress in "Decameron or Blood and passion Boccaccio" . In 2010, she received the Award "Icarus" for Best Actress in the play "Molly Sweeney" by Brian Frial, directed by Borislav Chakrinov .
