Based on the Anne Rice novel of the same name, 2002's Queen of the Damned stars Stuart Townsend as the iconic vampire Lestat de Lioncourt, but how was he cast? The film centers around Lestat, who becomes the lead singer of a rock band after they awaken him from decades of slumber with their music. He also awakens Akasha (played by the late Aaliyah in her final film role), the first vampire, who wants to make him her king. Meanwhile, Marguerite Moreau rounds out the Queen of the Damned cast as Talamasca researcher Jesse Reeves, who falls for with Lestat.

The third of this week’s Scott Adkins film reviews couldn’t be more different from the rest, insomuch that Incoming takes place in an alternate future, one where the International Space Station has been turned into the ultimate black site prison. Being in space means no one’s getting out; and no one knows it’s there. But when the imprisoned terrorists, who have suffered years of mental and physical abuse by the prison’s “warden” (Lukas Loughran), take over the Station and turn it into a missile aimed at Moscow – to complete the mission they started five years prior – blowing up likes of Big Ben, as seen in the films opener.

New Svp of sales arrives from Us-based Koan.

Premiere Entertainment Group (Peg) has bolstered its sales team in the long run-up to Cannes with the arrival of Devin Carter as senior vice-president of sales and announced fresh deals on Scott Adkins sci-fi action Incoming.

Carter (pictured) arrives from Us-based Koan, where he served as vice-president of sales and licensed rights to Danny Glover adventure fantasy The Age Of Dragons, among others. He will report to Peg president and CEO Elias Axume.

Aaron McCusker is set to join Scott Adkins in Eric Zaragoza’s directorial-debut indie Incoming, written by Jorge Saralegui. Doctor Strange actor Scott Adkins has been tapped as the lead in Benattar/Thomas Productions’ sci-fi action thriller Incoming, with helmer Eric Zaragoza making his film directorial debut. XLrator Media has secured the North American distribution rights to the film, which is currently in production in Belgrade, Serbia. Mia Wasikowska’s Madame Bovary Sells For Radiant Films

Radiant Films International has completed multiple sales deals in territories worldwide for Madame Bovary starring Mia Wasikowska including all French-speaking rights to Jour2Fête and Italy to Paco Pictures. Additional sales include Benelux to A-Film, Scandinavia to Svensk Filmindustri and Portugal to Nos Lusomundo Audiovisuais, Latin America to Swen, Australia to Transmission Films, South Korea to Noori Pictures, Turkey to Aqua Pinema, Middle East to Gulf Film, Greece to Odeon and Iceland to Myndform. Radiant is handling all foreign sales on the project which they are actively selling at Efm.

The Solution Boards Tokyo Vice Starring Daniel Radcliffe

The Solution Entertainment Group is handling international rights to Tokyo Vice, produced by John Lesher’s Le Grisbi Productions. The Solution’s Myles Nestel and Lisa Wilson will exec produce and present to buyers at the Efm. UTA is representing Us rights. Adam Kassan is also producing.

There's just Nothing like a good old fashioned Clive Barker penned tale of the macabre and terror. The author/filmmaker/artist has been terrifying his fans for decades, and through those years we've seen several film adaptations that have met with varying degrees of success. Sit back, kids! There's another one coming.

The next horror yarn being worked up to head to the big screen will be Barker's Resurrection Man. Writers John Heffernan and Jorge Saralegui are currently penning the screenplay for the film, which is being described as an action thriller. No other details were available at press time.

Saralegui is no stranger to Barker's work as he has produced a few other Barker adaptations including Dread, The Plague, Midnight Meat Train, and Book of Blood.

Writers Jeff Heffernan and Jorge Saralegui are presently seeking a home for Resurrection Man . The script is described as an action-thriller based on an idea by Clive Barker. Saralegui produced the previous Barker outings The Plague , Midnight Meat Train , Dread and Book of Blood . He was also developing an adaptation of Barker's short story "The Madonna." Adi Hasak and Gasmer will produce Resurrection Man if that project comes to fruition.

Anthony Diblasi will make his directorial debut in the Horrorfest 2010 entry Dread. The second film in the Book of Blood franchise and "the action follows three college students who set out to produce a documentary about fear, only to find themselves the subjects of an experiment in terror" (After Dark Films). This Midnight Picture Show will have a national release through the After Dark Film Festival beginning January 29, 2010. It’s one of the more complicated scenes to capture in the new Clive Barker film Dread. Actors Jackson (Twilight) Rathbone and Hanne Steen must play slightly drunk while getting hot and heavy during a romantic date in the countryside. At one point, they climb onto the hood of their car and release back into the wild a once-injured crow Rathbone’s character has rescued. Except the crow isn’t playing ball.

Director of photography Sam McCurdy (of the Descent duo) is perched on a crane, ready to move upward with the bird as it hopefully flies toward the camera. The crow wrangler has assured everyone this will happen. But it persistently doesn’t, and continually resetting the shot is getting very time-consuming and patience-testing—especially as writer/director Anthony Diblasi only has 28 days to shoot this adaptation of Barker’s acclaimed Books Of Blood short story during a cold November.

On the set of the latest Clive Barker adaptation to see its way to the big screen, Dread, Styd discovered which Books of Blood story will be adapted before Pig Blood Blues, which is set to roll sometime next year. The story is “The Madonna”, which was featured in the fifth Books of Blood collection and saw a graphic interpretation in Tapping the Vein, Volume 4.

For those unfamiliar, the story of “The Madonna” goes as such: A man named Jerry is trying to talk a local shady businessman into financing the redevelopment of an old swimming pool complex. However, the swimming pool has some mysterious inhabitants in the form of nude teenage girls who flee should Jerry or his would-be financial backer encounter them. A swimming pool in the centre is, unlike the other pools in the building, full, and glows with a strange light and appears to be inhabited by some misshapen life-form.

British horror master Clive Barker is taking his tales of terror to the big screen again.

Matador Pictures and Barker's Midnight Picture Show shingle are teaming to adapt what is planned to be the first in a series of films based on the horror author/filmmaker's fiction collection Books of Blood.

John Harrison (Tales From the Darkside: The Movie) will direct from a script written by Harrison and Darin Silverman. Sophie Ward (Young Sherlock Holmes) and Jonas Armstrong (the U.K.'s TV series Robin Hood) are set to star.

The Blood series consisted of six collections of horror stories published from 1984-85. The books made Barker an overnight literary sensation.

Blood will adapt the first story from Book 1, which centers on a paranormal expert who, while investigating a gruesome slaying, finds a house that is at the intersection of "highways" transporting the souls in the afterlife.

Barker, whose written works have inspired such film franchises as Hellraiser and Candyman, will produce with Midnight Picture Show's Jorge Saralegui and Joe Daley.
