Derek's Devastating Death in 'Grey's Anatomy', Explained
Image
Grey's Anatomy has been going for almost two decades. The 21 seasons and nearly 450 episodes have introduced viewers to plenty of characters, but few have been as popular with fans as Dr. Derek Shepherd, who's been affectionately referred to as "McDreamy." Derek is a neurosurgeon who works at the same hospital as the main character, Meredith Grey, and even had a relationship and kids with her. Patrick Dempsey won over audiences' hearts as Derek Shepherd, and even received the honor of People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" in 2023 after showing so much charisma in Grey's Anatomy.

The show controversially killed Derek Shepherd in episode 21 of season 11, titled "How to Save a Life." The episode is one of the lowest-rated episodes on IMDb, with a user rating of 5.6/10 with more than 3,000 reviews, mostly annoyed with how Derek was killed in the episode. However, McDreamy's death was a necessity, especially with situations in the background of the show's production.

Fan-Favorite Grey’s Anatomy Star Discusses Possible Return 7 Years Later
Image
Grey's Anatomy has seen many characters come and go during the course of its run, and among those who haven't been seen in a while is Martin Henderson's Dr. Nathan Riggs. Over seven years later, the actor has confirmed that he's open to the idea of returning as his fan-favorite character.

While speaking with Deadline to promote his series Virgin River, Henderson was asked about the possibility of returning to Grey's Anatomy. He teased that a return is possible, feeling that Grey's creator Shonda Rhimes would be supportive of a return of Dr. Riggs. It all comes down to scheduling, as Henderson is keeping pretty busy with his post-Grey's work.

'Mean and Unjust': Grey's Anatomy Star Comments on Unceremonious Firing
Image
The long-running series Grey's Anatomy has had many casting shakeups over the years, and some actors have been cut loose from the series long before they were ready to say goodbye. That applies to April Kepner actor Sarah Drew, who can still recall how it seemed "unjust" when she was fired without warning from her role in the series back in 2018.

Per TVLine, Drew opened up on her Grey's Anatomy exit during an interview for the Call It What It Is podcast, which is hosted by former cast mates Jessica Capshaw and Camilla Luddington. At the time of her firing six years ago, Drew made a comment that compared getting fired from the series to "attending [my] own funeral," and it was given a significant amount of attention in the media. Drew now clarifies that it was the "outpouring of love" from those offering support that made the experience feel like...

Who Is Stephanie Leifer? The Grey's Anatomy Tribute, Explained
Image
When Grey's Anatomy returned to ABC for Season 21 on September 26, 2024, fans were met with familiar faces and a fond farewell to one of the show's most instrumental programmers. The premiere episode, "If Walls Could Talk," was officially dedicated to Stephanie Leifer, a longtime ABC programming executive who spent a major portion of her career working to advance the success of Grey's Anatomy.

Although fans may not recognize Leifer as a household name, her lasting contributions to Grey's Anatomy speak volumes. As such, it's only fitting to reflect on who Leifer was, how she came aboard the show, and what she did to help make Grey's Anatomy the longest-running American medical drama in TV history. It's also important to hear what Leifer's friends and colleagues felt about her dedication to ABC and how her creative legacy will endure long after her untimely passing at age 56.

Image
Grey's Anatomy is getting a casting shakeup with Season 21, with multiple stars confirmed to leave the show in the upcoming episodes. For what it's worth, fans have been assured by series showrunner Meg Marinis that their exits will be handled properly.

Per TVLine, Marinis recently addressed the future of Jake Borelli and Mika Yasuda after their respective actors, Levi Schmitt and Midori Francis, were confirmed to be leaving in Season 21. Marinis teased that Schmitt and Yasuda aren't necessarily leaving the series forever, hinting at guest appearances to come down the road. While not sharing specific details on how their exits will be handled, the showrunner noted, "What I can tell you is that those characters story arcs will always honor the characters that weve begun."

10 TV Characters Who Randomly Disappeared, From Grey's Anatomy To That '70s Show
Image
Many TV shows have had interesting characters who randomly disappeared without any or very little explanation. While there may have been a behind-the-scenes explanation for this, it wasnt often voiced by production, which left audiences confused as to where their favorite characters went. Even the best TV shows of all time have been guilty of this before, which only made the situation even more frustrating.

Sometimes, the departure of a character was necessary. If a certain plotline advanced and the characters stories moved on to something new, there was frequently a need to reevaluate the importance of another figure. While this was annoying, it was worse elsewhere, and some shows aired TV exits that were totally out of character or made no sense whatsoever. Regardless of the reason, these puzzling disappearances from TV shows were incredibly noticeable.

'To Write Love on Her Arms' Trailer with Kat Dennings
Chad Michael Murray, Kat Dennings, and Rupert Friend in To Write Love on Her Arms (2012)
Best known for comedic performances in CBS' 2 Broke Girls, Marvel's Thor and Universal's The 40 Year Old Virgin, Kat Dennings takes on a role like never before in the first trailer for To Write Love on Her Arms. You may recall that, earlier this month, this title was one of a few films that was leaked online by the hacker group Guardians of Peace, along with Annie, Fury, Still Alice and Mr. Turner. Sony hasn't released a specific release date at this time, but the film is expected to hit theaters in March 2015.

Based on the true story that started a global movement, To Write Love on Her Arms presents a vision of hope, healing and redemption. Emmy Award winner Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls) stars as Renee, a Florida girl who struggles with addiction and abuse. In a creative blend of artistic fantasy and music conflicted with hard reality, Renee...

Awful To Write Love On Her Arms Trailer Features Sparkle Wipes and Kat Dennings Battling Addiction
Sony Pictures has released a To Write Love on Her Arms trailer, and if this movie ends up in theaters, I'll be shocked. Going by this trailer, I'm amazed it ended up in existence, and if/when it lands on VOD, it will remind us that even though the platform might be a boon for The Interview, it's still mostly a dumping ground. Judging by this trailer, the movie should be dumped and buried as far down as it will go. Kat Dennings plays a high-schooler (yes, almost ten years after 40-Year-Old Virgin, she can still play a high-schooler) battling addiction and finding redemption in her recovery. I only know that because the synopsis is posted below trailer; this is one of the most schizophrenic ads I've ever seen. And as a bonus, it has sparkle wipes, which is either one step above or below star wipes. I'm not sure.
