The trophies for the fourth annual Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards were handed out on Sunday with Neon’s Apollo 11 taking Best Documentary Feature. The ceremony took place at Bric in Brooklyn.

Neon was the top winner of the night with the space docu, winning five awards. Their docu The Biggest Little Farm walked away with Best Cinematography and their bee-keeping pic Honeyland won Best First Documentary Feature for Tamara Kotevska and Ljubomir Stefano.

The Biggest Little Farm led the pack this year with seven nominations while Apollo 11 (also a Neon title) and the Warner Bros. docu They Shall Not Grow Old each had six. Speaking of the latter, The Shall Not Grow Old‘s Peter Jackson won for Best Director tying with Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert who directed the Netflix docu American Factory.

The ceremony also honored the great documentarian Frederick Wiseman with the D.A.Pennebaker Award...

Director Danny Mooney’s upcoming war romance drama, ‘Love and Honor,’ has received an official release date. The film, which was written by Jim Burnstein and Garrett K. Schiff, will open theatrically in New York and Los Angeles on March 22, while a national rollout to follow. First Trailer for Love and Honor with Liam Hemsworth & Teresa Palmer
Currently in cinemas alongside Stallone and the gang in The Expendables 2, and previously seen in one of the year’s biggest blockbusters, The Hunger Games, Liam Hemsworth has had a pretty excellent year, making a strong name for himself (beyond the early references to him as Chris Hemsworth’s brother).

Actor Wyatt Russell has become the latest to join the cast of the Lionsgate war drama Awol. We reported last month that Liam Hemsworth and Teresa Palmer are headlining cast.

Jim Burnstein and Garrett K. Schiff wrote the screenplay, which is based on a true story that revolves around an American solider during the Vietnam War (Austin Stowell), who goes Awol with his best friend (Liam Hemsworth) when his girlfriend (Aimee Teegarden) dumps him. They both go on a journey back to America so Austin Stowell's character can try to win back his girlfriend. No character details were given for Wyatt Russell's role.

Danny Mooney is making his feature directorial debut with Awol. Production is slated to begin in the near future, on location in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Liam Hemsworth, younger brother to one Asgardian God of Thunder, looks set to star in Danny Mooney’s directorial debut, Awol.

Set in Vietnam-era America and based on real events, Awol is a romantic drama charting the anti-Vietnam War movement at the University of Michigan.

Hemsworth is in negotiations to star opposite Teresa Palmer, Aimee Teegarden, Chris Lowell and Max Adler, with the script provided by executive producers Jim Burnstein & Garrett K. Schiff.

Also in negotiations to star alongside Hemsworth are Austin Stowell, Teresa Palmer, Aimee Teegarden, Chris Lowell, and Max Adler. The film, which explores the anti-Vietnam war movement at the University of Michigan, is slated to shoot there this summer with helmer Danny Mooney, who will make his directorial debut.
