“It’s a punk Marvel movie.” So says director Tony Kaye about his latest film, The Trainer, one of the more intriguing films to world premiere this year at the Rome Film Festival (October 16-27).
The Trainer centres on Jack Flex, a penniless fitness expert who takes a maniacal swing at fame and fortune by trying to sell the Heavy Hat, an obviously dangerous fitness gadget, on his mum’s favourite home shopping channel.

“Eccentric” is a word we throw around a lot in Hollywood. We use it for financiers from faraway places with deep pockets and no real connection to show business. Or for actors that exist on different planes of consciousness and, perhaps, speak of cow birthing in their Oscar speeches. It’s a polite way of saying one is nutty.
But there are times when the word applies with a sort of affection, and holds appreciation for the fruits that eccentricity bears. Such is the case with Tony Kaye, the long-lost director of the cinephile favorite 1999 film “American History X.” Upon my rescheduling our original interview earlier this week, Kaye responded that he now had time to “drink my vegetable soup in peace.” When we do connect on Zoom, he spends a period muting his microphone and strumming a guitar before spitting out lyrical answers to questions. His mane of shock...

“In the next 45 minutes, we’re about to hear Gus speak more than he has in the last 40 years,” Vito Schnabel, the art world scion who is increasingly turning his head toward Hollywood, told a crowd at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival last week.
He was there to moderate a conversation with American heavyweight filmmaker Gus Van Sant, who just directed Schnabel (and a pack of actors barreling toward Emmy nominations) in “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.” That history, of a glittery New York whose underbelly was found in the bedrooms and hallways of the ruling class, took a back seat to Van Sant’s impactful career.
He has directed some of the stickiest and profound films of the past four decades, including “Drugstore Cowboy,” “My Own Private Idaho,” the Columbine shooting-inspired “Elephant,” Nicole Kidman’s “To Die For,” the Oscar winner “Milk,” and “Good Will Hunting,” which launched...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans, Episode 6, “Hats, Gloves and Effete Homosexuals.”] Relevancy is fading fast for Capote (Tom Hollander) in the latest entry of Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans as the writer and his former friends come to terms with the fact that a younger generation is on the rise. This is illustrated by the inclusion of Kerry O’Shea (Ella Beatty) and handyman Rick (Vito Schnabel). As Capote and the Swans begin to see the end of an era, he helps John’s (Russell Tovey) daughter find her footing in the modeling world but not without a few hiccups as he misjudges the current styles. While Capote may have been throwing lavish and trendy balls back in the ’60s, his viewpoint has been skewed by the past. Together, Capote and Kerry work out the kinks in their approach to her career, which Beatty was excited to play onscreen. “Tom Hollander is...

Julia Fox is channeling her “Spring Breakers” energy this summer.
The “Uncut Gems” actress told Page Six she is currently in pre-production on film “Lipstick Palm,” which she co-wrote with Sara Apple. Fox described the feature as “‘Weekend at Bernie’s’ meets ‘Spring Breakers,'” citing the dark comedy aspect of the drama.
“It’s about these two girls and they are in L.A.,” Fox said. “They are classic. One is an aspiring actress, and the other is a nepotism baby — but her dad had like seven kids, so the pool has been diluted. They’re drug addicts, so they are in recovery, but they are always in and out. One has a sugar daddy. There is a dead body involved somewhere.”
While Fox penned the script, she is not directing “Lipstick Palm” but may helm a feature in the future.

Lots of reunions took place at the 2023 Met Gala - even among exes! On May 1, former couple Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk, who dated for four years and share one child, had a friendly run-in at the annual fashion event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as the two were photographed chatting inside near a banquet table. Cooper dressed in a simple black tuxedo, while Shayk wore a cream-colored Yohji Yamamoto gown.
The cordial encounter between the two, who walked the Met Gala red carpet separately, may not come as a surprise as they coparent their 6-year-old daughter, Lea De Seine, and occasionally hang out together.
Cooper and Shayk started dating back in the spring of 2015, two years before they welcomed their child together, but later split in 2019. At that time, People reported that a source said the Oscar-nominated actor and supermodel decided to amicably work out how to share custody of their daughter.

Bradley Cooper, 47, and Irina Shayk, a Russian model, 36, were spotted sharing a hug on the streets of New York this week while walking hand-in-hand with their five-year-old daughter Lea De Seine.
Cooper, who recently starred in The Nightmare Alley, and Shayk started dating in 2015 and went public as a couple in 2016. They welcomed their little girl Seine in 2017, eventually calling it quits in 2019 and co-parenting the child.
Cooper was recently rumored to be dating Huma Abedin, Anthony Weiner‘s ex and Hillary Clinton‘s close confidante for months.
Shayk was also seeing others after her split with Cooper, being briefly linked to Vito Schnabel and Kanye West.
It was reported that the duo were thinking about getting back together. Shayk added fuel to the rumors as she posted a photo of the two of them on August 28, looking cozy on a beach vacation in the Bahamas, captioning the snap with a red heart emoji.

No one should be surprised by how Julia Fox is embracing and enjoying her fame.
While the New York native first attracted attention playing Adam Sandler’s mistress in “Uncut Gems,” Fox’s spotlight intensified when she briefly dated Kanye West earlier this year.
“It comes so naturally to me,” she told me Sunday at the Vanity Fair Oscar party. “It’s like, don’t give that girl a stage, because I’ll just run with it. I really feel that way. I’m just having so much fun with it.”
She continued, “I don’t want to sound, like, cocky or anything, but it really feels natural and I feel like that maybe means something, that I’m so unfazed.”
Fox said she is currently shooting director Tony Kaye’s dark comedy “Trainer” with Vito Schnabel and Steve Van Zandt. “I have a lot of other projects in the works as well,...
