World sales agency 13 Films has boarded dark comedy “The Trainer,” the new film from “American History X” director Tony Kaye, and will be screening the film for buyers at the Cannes Film Market next month.

The film had its world premiere at the Rome Film Festival, and will have its North American premiere at the Tribeca Festival in June.

Vito, who is best known for being an art gallery owner, is making his feature film acting debut in the new film, which premiered at the 2024 Rome Film Festival on Sunday (October 20) in Rome, Italy.

The “Uncut Gems” actress told Page Six she is currently in pre-production on film “Lipstick Palm,” which she co-wrote with Sara Apple. Fox described the feature as “‘Weekend at Bernie’s’ meets ‘Spring Breakers,'” citing the dark comedy aspect of the drama.

“It’s about these two girls and they are in L.A.,” Fox said. “They are classic. One is an aspiring actress, and the other is a nepotism baby — but her dad had like seven kids, so the pool has been diluted. They’re drug addicts, so they are in recovery, but they are always in and out. One has a sugar daddy. There is a dead body involved somewhere.”

No one should be surprised by how Julia Fox is embracing and enjoying her fame.

While the New York native first attracted attention playing Adam Sandler’s mistress in “Uncut Gems,” Fox’s spotlight intensified when she briefly dated Kanye West earlier this year.

“It comes so naturally to me,” she told me Sunday at the Vanity Fair Oscar party. “It’s like, don’t give that girl a stage, because I’ll just run with it. I really feel that way. I’m just having so much fun with it.”

Deadline reports that after nearly a decade of development, the dark comedy "The Trainer" is finally on its way towards the silver screen, directed by "American History X" helmer Tony Kaye. Exclusive: Vito Schnabel (Before Night Falls), Julia Fox (Uncut Gems) and Steven Van Zandt (The Sopranos) have signed on to star in the dark comedy The Trainer, which Tony Kaye (American History X) is directing from a script by Schnabel and Jeff Solomon.

In development for nearly a decade, The Trainer is based on an original story by Schnabel. The film unfolding over eight days of sleep-deprived chaos follows Jack (Schnabel), a down-on-his-luck fitness expert living with his mother in Los Angeles, who takes a maniacal swing at fame and fortune, trying to realize his version of the American dream.

Schnabel, Kaye and Jeremy Steckler are producing, with George Paaswell on board to exec produce. Production will kick off in Los Angeles in early April.
