    • Georg H. Schnell was born on April 11, 1878 in Chih-fou, China. He was an actor, known for Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (1922), Marie Antoinette - Das Leben einer Königin (1922) and Die rollende Kugel (1919). He died on March 31, 1951 in West Berlin, West Germany.

Trivia

  • Serious-looking character actor, prolific in classic German films of the 1920's and 30's. He was born and brought up in China, taking part in suppressing the 1900 Boxer Uprising. Before becoming an actor, he also worked as a lumberjack in Florida. During the 1920's, he performed on the Berlin stage under the auspices of Max Reinhardt. On screen he is best remembered for his performance in Murnau's "Nosferatu" and as a member of the punch bowl circle in "Die Feuerzangenbowle" (1944).
  • During the war time he was only seldom on camera.
  • The actor Georg Heinrich Schnell took part in some very important silent movies, the most famous is F.W. Murnau's masterpiece "Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens" (22).
  • His most labour-intensive time for the film business was in the 30's where he impersonated support roles in a whole string of well-known productions.
  • Internationally, he played in Alfred Hitchcock's film debut The Pleasure Garden (Irrgarten der Leidenschaft).
