When Did Channing Tatum Start To Rock?
At some point Channing Tatum went from man-candy (what? It's been said) to movie star. His star rose when Step Up stole the hearts of romantic comedy lovers that had waited too long for a new dance film. Seemed like Save The Last Dance had been decades before, despite the fact it actually released only five years prior. But, let's take a look back at Channing's filmography and see exactly where Tatum became something more.

CSI: Miami - Bob Davenport (2004) Never saw it, lets assume he was "okay."Coach Carter - Jason Lyle (2005) Same as CSI: Miami, watching Samuel L. Jackson as a coach just seemed too easy. Yell. Throw Notebook. Win baby, win.War of the Worlds - Boy in Church (uncredited, 2005) Wuh? Did they know he was just in Coach Carter?Havoc - Nick (2005) Is this the Havoc with Anne Hatheway's nude scene? Must go back and pay...

How Channing Tatum Went from Stripper To Potential Oscar Nominee

When Foxcatcher arrives in theaters this weekend — the dark, true-life drama about the murder of Olympic wrestling champion Dave Schultz (played by Mark Ruffalo) — it may leave you with a looming question, “Wait, is that really Channing Tatum?” No, not just because Tatum — like his co-star Steve Carell (who plays eccentric millionaire and Schultz’s murderer, John du Pont) — is virtually unrecognizable due to the film’s stunning physical transformations. It’s because Tatum, as the tortured Olympic wrestler (and Dave’s brother) Mark Schultz, reaches staggering new heights as an actor.

The star of Step Up, White House Down, 21 Jump Street, and Magic Mike, among others, not only turns out one of this year’s most harrowing performances, but one of the very best. Even Tatum’s biggest naysayers (yes, they exist) will be blown away by the actor’s emotionally and physically daunting work in Foxcatcher.

As Seen On TV: Watch Channing Tatum in ‘Stop-loss’ on FX
Tweet

Although the tattoos on Sgt. Steve Shriver (played by Channing Tatum) in ‘Stop-Loss‘ are not real, the Grunt tattoo on his arm in the film is inspired by a very real tat worn by Chan’s good friend and veteran Keith Kurtz.

Rainey: When you going back Steve?

Sgt. Steve Shriver: I’m done. Me and Bk getting out. You know if I had to do it again I’d be a f*****g sniper. One shot. One kill. Let me be the faceless enemy.

Helmed by award-winning director Kimberly Peirce, ‘Stop-Loss‘ is about a veteran soldier who returns from his completed tour of duty in Iraq, only to find his life turned upside down when he is arbitrarily ordered to return to field duty by the Army. In addition to Chan, the 2008 film also stars Ryan Phillippe, Abbie Cornish and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Watch ‘Stop-Loss‘ Today at 3:00Pm Central on FX!
