“Carmela can not go to bed with him”: David Chase Didn’t Allow Edie Falco’s Character to Have an Affair in ‘The Sopranos’ Just to Prove a Point
Image
During the six-season run of The Sopranos, chief protagonist Tony Soprano entered a series of affairs. This was despite the mob boss sharing a generally happy marriage with Carmela, played by the quintessential Edie Falco.

And while the series broke down a number of conventions, showrunner David Chase never allowed Carmela to actually have an affair. One notable instance in Season 1’s College teased the possibility of an affair, but Chase made sure it never materialized—intentionally proving a point about her character.

‘Suits LA’: What to Expect From the Spinoff (and Remember From ‘Suits’)
Image
Wait, is Suits really back? You bet your goddamn ass it is.

After the USA Network legal drama exploded on Netflix and racked up 57.7 billion minutes watched in 2023, creator Aaron Korsh is expanding the Suits universe with a second spinoff — this time, set on the West Coast. Suits LA, which premieres Sunday on NBC, will feature a new set of lawyers attempting to recapture the hallmarks of the original series: impossibly sharp intellect, edgy and witty dialogue and, yes, impeccably tailored suits and high fashion.

Given that the new spinoff offers very little carry-over in terms of characters, viewers could theoretically tune into the L.A.-based spinoff without having watched any of its predecessors. But they would be seriously depriving themselves of the addictive, cozy comforts of the original series. Whether you watched the mothership during its initial run on cable from 2011 to 2019, or during the “summer of Suits...

Edie Falco Explains Why Nurse Jackie Will Be Revived 10 Years After Finale
Image
Edie Falco's Nurse Jackie is getting a revival which will see the series return a decade after ending its initial run. Despite the passage of time, Falco explains that now's a good time to bring the show back, as its subject matter is just as relevant as ever.

Falco discussed the show's return in a new interview with Screen Rant. She was asked why now is the best time for Nurse Jackie's return on Prime Video, and Falco touched on how mental health issues and subsequent drug use are still a very big danger, no less so than they were when the show was on the air previously. Because Nurse Jackie "did a fair amount of exploration" into that subject, the show may have helped viewers who were dealing with their own struggles, and Falso is hoping that the revival will similarly provide some inspiration for others.

Review: Law & Order Season 23, Episode 10 Almost Revives the Show
Image
The following contains spoilers from Law & Order Season 23, Episode 10, "Inconvenient Truth," which debuted Thursday, April 18 on NBC.

The Law & Order revival has stirred up mixed opinions among fans. Some are glad to see the show back, while others believe the revival era doesn't match up to the NBC procedural's original run. The one thing that's for certain is that it's a very different Law & Order than viewers saw in 1990 or even 2010. It has the same name, and the same format, but it's shifted in many ways.

Law & Order Season 23, Episode 10, "Inconvenient Truth," is the first episode of the season that feels reminiscent of Law & Order's glory days and the qualities that made it a hit. The episode benefits from some memorable casting and has some flashes of brilliance. It isn't able to totally escape the criticisms that have been leveled at the revival, but...

The Sopranos' Signature Look Came From Ignoring The Rules Of TV
Image
David Chase's "The Sopranos" absolutely blew audiences' minds when it hit the small screen in 1999. The series followed New Jersey mafioso Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) and his associates as they tried to reconcile their old-world mafia lifestyle with suburban life at the turn of the millennium. The series was often at its best when it put mundanity and mobster business in contrast, and few episodes did it better than "College" from season 1. In the episode, Tony's daughter Meadow (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) wants to go look at colleges and her dear old dad takes her. She asks him point blank about his mob life, and he's surprisingly honest with her, though he turns around and lies to her when he's forced to kill a former associate during their little Maine road trip. The episode beautifully sets up Tony's double life, and the cinematography in the episode ended up setting a visual...

Image
Warning: contains spoilers for The Expanse season 4

At the beginning of The Expanse season four, the show’s characters stood at the crossroads of a brave and expansive new world, as did the cast and crew in their new home at Amazon. It was a marriage made in heaven. The Expanse was bigger, slicker, bolder, and grittier, but just as gloriously deep, rich and complex as ever. As season five gets ready to drop, let’s remind ourselves of the ups, downs, ins, outs, fights, smites and subterfuge of season four. We’ll start with the set-up and then look at each of the main locations/groups in turn, leading up to the season’s denouement and planet-busting cliffhanger. Major spoilers, obviously, ahead.

The Punisher Reboot May Happen Next Year After Netflix Agreement Expires
Image
Despite lacking any superpowers and instead just being really, really good at killing people, The Punisher remains one of Marvel's most popular characters. Following the surprise cancellation of the Netflix series last year, fans have been wondering when they will see the anti-hero next, and, thankfully, we only have to wait another year.

Reportedly, there is an agreement between the streaming giant and Marvel that states that the latter would not touch The Punisher for around two years, and we're now about halfway through, meaning that the studio can start thinking about what to do when the contract is up...if they haven't been thinking about it already.

Actor Royce Johnson, who plays Detective Sergeant Brett Mahoney in both Netflix series' The Punisher and Daredevil, discussed the alleged clause in the contract last year saying, "I mean, talking to [Marvel TV president] Jeph Loeb, I read that the memo had said, 'To be continued'.

Aaron Fisher and Ellen Toland in Inside the Rain (2019)
‘Inside the Rain’: Film Review
Aaron Fisher and Ellen Toland in Inside the Rain (2019)
When asked to diagnose himself early in “Inside the Rain,” Benjamin Glass, a college film student played by Aaron Fisher, cheerfully runs down a checklist: “I’m bipolar, Adhd, Ocd, borderline personality disorder… You name it, I’ve got it.” It’s a moment that is at once both amusing and unsettling — even more so if you’re aware that Fisher, who also wrote, directed and co-edited this offbeat indie dramedy, is describing his own real-life medical condition.

Indeed, knowing all that inevitably influences your response to the entire film, much of which plays like an engagingly freewheeling mix of autobiography and wish-fulfillment. Fisher, an ingratiatingly ordinary-looking fellow who could be plausibly cast as Jason Biggs’ taller and beefier kid brother, commendably refrains from making his cinematic doppelganger easily likable. Especially but not exclusively during Benjamin’s frequent manic episodes, he comes off as almost unbearably obnoxious, if not downright scary.

What Makes Film and TV Supervillains Tick?
For more than a decade, superheroes have been a staple of cinema and television. Audiences are thrilled and inspired by an everyman donning spandex to overcome great difficulties and save the day. Nevertheless the majority of superhero films are plagued by one persistent stumbling block: a villain problem. In the McU only the charismatic Loki (Tom Hiddleston), merciless Hela (Cate Blanchett), resentful Vulture (Michael Keaton), and rage-filled Killmonger (Michael B Jordan) were more than thinly defined enigmas of evil. Whilst the DC film universe has opted to embrace CGI ‘Big Bads’ that appear out of nowhere during the third act. It’s fair to say that neither universe has succeeded in creating villains as complex or endearing as their heroic counterparts.

One of the main factors contributing to cinematic supervillains inability to make an impact is their lack of motivation. Guardians of the Galaxy’s antagonist Ronan (Lee Pace) hated...

‘The Punisher – Season One’ Review (Netflix)
After The Punisher was introduced into the secons season of Daredevil, the anticipation that he would get his own show was high. Now that it is here though, does it live up to our hopes? The answer for the most part is yes, but read on to find out why Marvel fall into a familiar trap with their new Netflix show…

When Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) tries to leave The Punisher behind him, it doesn’t take long before he has to take action against wrongdoers. When this catches the attention of Micro (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) Castle finds himself once again hunting down the people behind his family’s death, as it seems his vengeance was ended a little prematurely.

While I may say some negative things about the show in this review, it is important to point out that Jon Bernthal is perfect as Frank Castle. He can convey the emotions needed for Frank Castle,...

The Punisher Netflix Series: Does It Hit the Target? (Spoilers)
The latest Marvel-based Netflix series came out this week, continuing the adventures of gun-toting vigilante Frank Castle, Aka the Punisher. The character was popular when he appeared in Daredevil. Does the Punisher fare as well in his own series? (Spoilers below.)

The Punisher is the sixth Marvel Netflix series (Following Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and the Defenders) and it’s probably the most controversial, since it deals not only with Ptsd and the treatment of war veterans, it also touches on the gun control debate. Beyond all that, this is an action shoot-em-up. It’s surprisingly dark and violent for a Marvel comics adaptation, but the Netflix shows are quite different from what you’ll see in Thor: Ragnarok.

The Punisher is once again seeking answers to day of the shooting that led to the death of his family. This was dealt with in Daredevil season 2, but it’s expanded upon here,...

Frank Castle Is A Man On A Mission In New Punisher Images
With The Punisher finally about to drop on Netflix next month, a few more promo images for the upcoming Marvel series have appeared online today – which we’ve put together in the gallery below for your viewing pleasure. They’re an interesting collection, too, as the stills highlight Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) at various different stages in his life.

For instance, one image sees him looking pretty down while chatting with Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page, who we recently learned wasn’t always set to appear in the show. In this particular scene, Frank’s sporting shaggy hair and a beard. Whatever Karen says to him seems to do the trick, though – or makes him worse, depending on your viewpoint – as other images see a clean-shaven Frank back in business as the Punisher.

Frank Castle Stalks The Streets Of Hell’s Kitchen In New Photos For The Punisher
The Punisher is coming to collect.

With a November 17th release date locked in, and that bone-crunching final trailer out in the open, Marvel and Netflix are beginning to make the final push to promote Frank Castle’s imminent arrival – even if that launch was delayed in light of the recent Las Vegas shooting.

But thanks to the show’s official Twitter account, which has channeled Castle’s raw, world-weary attitude close to perfection, today brings forth four all-new images for The Punisher, teasing old friends (Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen) and new enemies (Paul Schulze’s William Rawlins). There’s also another shot of Frank Castle and Micro housed up on a New York rooftop, presumably staking out a nearby target/hotspot.

New Destructive Trailer for The Punisher Announces Release Date
A new trailer for Marvel/Netflix's latest superhero series, The Punisher, has dropped! While we never get tired of seeing Frank Castle on the warpath, this trailer shows us something we hadn't seen yet, a release date.

Netflix has graced us with yet another bloody trailer for Marvel's The Punisher series. The previous few gave us a good idea at how brutal the series was going to be, but today's gave us two things we hadn't had yet. A little bit of exposition and an official release date.

November 17, while great that it's close, feels like a missed opportunity on Netflix's part. If they had released the series a week earlier, on the 10th, they'd have released it on the Marine Corp. birthday. Considering Frank Castle was a former Marine, this would've been very timely.

Nevertheless, the Marine Corp. will get to eat their cake on 10th and have it...

‘Marvel’s The Punisher’ Confirms Release Date With New Trailer That Promises to Reveal ‘The Truth’ — Watch
The Punisher (2017)
Marvel’s sixth Netflix series, “The Punisher,” has been scheduled to premiere on November 17. The series is based on the Marvel Comics character, whose Mo for vigilante justice involves an intense amount of guns and plenty of vendettas.

A New York Comic-Con event featuring “The Punisher” was originally planned for earlier in the month before being canceled following the tragic mass shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday, October 1.

“The Punisher,” a spin-off from Season 2 of “Daredevil,” “The Punisher” details the life of Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), a former U.S. Marine Captain who came out blazing after the murder of his wife and child. Then, Castle emblazoned the symbol of a death’s head on his body armor and waged a one-man war upon crime as the Punisher.

Marvel's The Punisher Series Gets Some New Photos and Promo Spot
Netflix has released a collection of photos from Marvel's upcoming series The Punisher featuring Frank Castle, Karen Page, and several other characters. I also included a new promo spot that was released that highlights a major cover up. It came along with the caption, "How deep does the cover up go?"

With every new thing I see from the series, it's hard not to get excited! Frank Castle is just such a badass character and I'm excited to see the story that this solo series will tell. One thing is for certain... it's going to be badass!

Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle from Marvel’s Daredevil and he’s joined by newcomers Ben Barnes as Billy Russo (the civilian name of the villain Jigsaw), Frank’s Castle’s best friend from his days in the Special Forces who runs a successful private military corporation called “Anvil;” Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Micro,...

New Photo From Marvel's The Punisher Features Frank Castle as a U.S. Marine
Empire has released a new photo from Marvel’s upcoming series The Punisher. It gives us a look at Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) as a U.S. Marine in a time prior to him becoming the vengeful vigilante. What we are seeing here is a glimpse of a flashback scene in which we will learn more about Frank's past and the traumatic events that helped to shape his turn into The Punisher.

When talking about the killing spree that Frank Castle will go on in the solo series, Bernthal explains:

“It’s the only thing that silences the demons, temporarily. There’s going to be an attempt to move beyond the Punisher, but that’s something he can’t shake. There’s part of me that’s hungry to get back into the darkness, that’s excited to see it fall apart.”

As a fan of The Punisher, I'm more...

Here's a Badass New Photo of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher
This new photo of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher is the best image yet of him in the role. It's the most Punisher looking image of Bernthal as The Punisher that I've seen! Damn! He looks badass!

Marvel released the first trailer for the upcoming Punisher solo series last week, that you can watch here in case you missed it. I can't wait to see see this character back in action!

Bernthal is joined by Ben Barnes as Billy Russo a.k.a. Jigsaw, who is Castle’s best friend from his days in the Special Forces. He runs a successful private military corporation called “Anvil”. The series also stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Micro, a former Nsa analyst whose secrets may be of great value to Frank Castle and everyone around them; and Amber Rose Revah as Dinah Madani, a highly-trained sophisticated Homeland Security agent who is vexed by the Punisher.
