Idris Elba’s Lagos-set work Dust to Dreams, starring music artist Seal, will premiere in the Toronto International Film Festival’s TIFF Shorts program, the lineup of which was unveiled Thursday.

The Terminal List is getting some serious reinforcements for Season 2. Deadline has reported that Edwin Hodge and Caitlin Bassett (Quantum Leap) have been cast in recurring guest roles in the hit Prime Video action thriller led by Chris Pratt. The casting marks a reunion for Hodge and Pratt, who previously starred together in 2021’s sci-fi blockbuster The Tomorrow War, and now, the two are going from fighting aliens to hunting conspirators in The Terminal List’s grounded and gritty world of covert military ops.

Created by David Digilio and based on the bestselling novels by Jack Carr, The Terminal List follows Navy Seal James Reece (Pratt), who uncovers a deadly conspiracy after his platoon is ambushed during a high-risk mission. When Clint Eastwood made a movie about the Iraq War, based on the life of the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history, it was bound to court controversy. 2014's "American Sniper" told the story of real-life Navy Seal Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper), who, after being deployed to Iraq, earns the nickname "Legend" for his elite sniping skills. Samuel, who recently made his runway debut at the Paris Fashion Week as part of a show by designer Lena Erziak, is looking to expand his profile in fashion and entertainment.

The 1989 "Batman" film, directed by Tim Burton, is a culturally pivotal movie. Its impact on Batman the character is hard to overstate, but for me, the most important part of the movie's legacy is Danny Elfman's score. His main "Batman" theme is legendary; the images of Batman moving through the shadows and standing atop a skyscraper or gliding above them are now inseparable from Elfman's orchestral horns.

But back in the 20th century, "Batman" movies didn't just have original scores, but tie-in songs from star musicians. Without Remorse follows the Jack Ryan supporting character John Kelly (also known as John Clark). The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, the long-awaited prequel to the Chris Pratt action series, has been officially revealed by Prime Video. The upcoming series will see Taylor Kitsch at the forefront as Navy Seal Ben Edwards, while Pratt will reprise his starring role as James Reece.

Prime Video announced that The Terminal List: Dark Wolf will premiere on the streaming platform with three episodes on Aug. 27, 2025. The subsequent episodes will be released weekly until Sept. 24. The eight-time Grammy Award announced her 37th album Wednesday, and the record will feature a selection of 11 duets with superstars including Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Sting, Hozier, Sam Smith, Seal, Josh Groban, Tim McGraw, Laufey, Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande. Bradley Cooper is crediting Christian Bale for inspiring his “American Sniper” performance. Cooper, who co-starred with Bale in David O. Russell’s “American Hustle,” said during the “Howard Stern Show” that he emulated Bale’s acting technique to portray real-life Texas-born Navy Seal Chris Kyle.

Clint Eastwood’s “American Sniper” was released in 2015, two years after Cooper witnessed Bale’s “American Hustle” approach for the 2013 film. Bale famously Method acts, and according to Cooper, it was revolutionary to see how Bale built his performance while staying in character.

The former US Navy Seal on working alongside the Ex Machina director to produce a war movie that’s as true to life as possible

Ray Mendoza, 45, served for more than 16 years as a US Navy Seal and training instructor before leaving to work as a Hollywood military adviser, specialising in choreographing gunfight sequences for movies including Alex Garland’s Civil War (2024). It’s with Garland that he’s now co-written and co-directed the film Warfare, a claustrophobically immersive account of an ill-fated surveillance mission that he survived in Ramadi province, Iraq, in 2006. Two men, among them Mendoza’s best friend, sniper and medic Elliott Miller, were badly injured by al-Qaida insurgents, and the attack intensified as the Seals sought to evacuate their wounded. The film, described in the New Yorker as “a work of hyper-exacting realism”, opens in the UK on 18 April.

How do you feel about war films in general?...

Alex Garland returns to the war drama genre, but this time sets it during a real war instead of a dystopian future like Civil War. A24’s Warfare is co-directed by Garland along with Iraq War veteran and former Navy Seal Roy Mendoza, who makes his directorial debut. The film is based on Mendoza’s experiences in Iraq, during the Battle of Ramadi.

The film was released this week to mostly positive reviews, with critics praising the craft and set pieces. It stars Will Poulter, D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai, Cosmo Jarvis, Joseph Quinn, and more, as Mendoza’s real-life brothers-in-arms, although only two of them, including Mendoza, came forward with their real identities.

“Everything in the film is sourced from first person account and the film is just attempting to accurately recreate it,” Garland said at the film’s U.K. premiere in London Tuesday night. “That neutral approach, I hope, means people can receive this as adults in their own way with whatever they bring, whatever their opinions are on the Iraq war — it doesn’t matter.
