Vince Gilligan‘s Breaking Bad has become a staple for modern television drama, earning itself a household name after 10 million people tuned in (via NY Times) for its finale released in 2013. Titled ‘Felina’, Gilligan fesses up to borrowing the ending from John Wayne’s epic Western film The Searchers (1956).
Throughout The Searchers, we follow the character Ethan chasing after Debbie for revenge. In Breaking Bad, Walter White is out for Jesse Pinkman, but instead saves him from being a slave. Gilligan draws from John Wayne’s story and reworks it into the tale of Pinkman and the great Heisenberg. Gilligan states:
“It’s this tear-jerking wonderful ending. We stole from the best.“

Vince Gilligan‘s work is known to each sci-fi fanatic out there. But, do you know about The X Files? It is a sci-fi that questions the difference between paranormal and science. Starring the enigmatic David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, the series culminated in May 2002.
As for Gilligan, The X Files marked the start of his career in the sci-fi landscape. The esteemed visionary was considering and still is to revive the show even after a decade. In an interview with The Independent, Vince Gilligan quoted,
“The thought that there could be more episodes of The X Files is very exciting to me indeed.”
He further continued,
“If I knew I could do it, I would love to be a part of it, but even if I am not, you can know for a fact that I’ll be watching every episode and rooting them on, and being very much the fanboy that I started.

Vince Gilligan's Apple TV+ sci-fi series Pluribus gets a subtly sinister trailer featuring a Better Call Saul star as the show's mystery grows. While Breaking Bad is considered one of the best crime TV shows of all time, Pluribus is a sci-fi thriller following Carol, the unhappiest person in the world tasked with rescuing Earth from happiness.
Now Apple TV+ has released a new teaser for Pluribus, which sees Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn, who plays Carol, observing a ringing landline phone. While much of the podcast industry has grown cautious and consolidated, one small independent studio is proving you don’t need a big budget to make something big.
Toronto-based Sonar Network, an indie podcast company founded in 2017 by a group of local comedians, is releasing its most ambitious series to date: StanLand, a five-part scripted audio comedy featuring an A-list cast including Rhea Seehorn, Bobby Moynihan, Steve Little, Jon Hamm, and John Waters. The series premieres July 29 on all major podcast platforms, with early access to the full series and exclusive bonus content available via Apple Podcasts Subscriptions.
Created and written by humorist Mike Sacks, StanLand follows a missing podcaster and a mediocre Maryland man who stumble into a once-magical kingdom now overrun by vape shops, dollar stores, and gated retirement communities. The result is a surreal, sound-rich satire of late-stage capitalism, part fantasy adventure, part cultural mirror.

After earning critical acclaim and fan adoration on Better Call Saul, Vince Gilligan and Rhea Seehorn are teaming up once again, this time for a mysterious sci-fi series on Apple TV+. The untitled drama marks Gilligan’s first project since wrapping the Breaking Bad universe, and it promises to take fans into stranger territory.
Plot details remain limited, but the new series has been called a sci-fi drama exploring human nature with comparisons to The Twilight Zone. Apple won the highly competitive bidding war for the show in 2022, beating out several major studios eager to work with Gilligan after his success with Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. In fact, Apple was so confident in Gilligan's next project that it ordered two seasons right out of the gate.
What’s confirmed so far is that Seehorn, who played fan-favorite attorney Kim Wexler across six seasons of Better Call Saul, will lead the series.

It's been a long time coming — a little over 12 years, to be exact — but Vince Gilligan is finally returning to television with a brand-new series outside the world of Breaking Bad, the show he's most well-known for creating. His next project appears to be a complete departure from the gritty crime drama set in Albuquerque; in fact, it finds Gilligan moving into sci-fi territory, which is sure to excite fans of his earlier work on The X-Files. Apple TV+ has posted the first incredibly brief teaser for the show, titled Pluribus — which, in true Gilligan fashion, reveals next to nothing regarding plot or story details.
The series has been in development for some time. It was first discussed following the conclusion of the Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul, which was created by Peter Gould and found Gilligan contributing as a writer and director on several episodes. Early information surrounding...

"Help yourself! :)" Apple TV has finally revealed a first look at the new series from the creator of Breaking Bad, writer Vince Gilligan, which is ready to debut at the end of 2025 (starting in November). His new sci-fi drama series is titled Pluribus - the Latin word is an adjective that means "much, many" (used in the U.S. slogan "E pluribus unum"). There's still not much really known about what the show is about or what will be happening, but we finally have a one-line intro: The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness. Pluribus stars Rhea Seehorn (who was in Gilligan's "Better Call Saul") along with Carlos Manuel Vesga, Karolina Wydra, Miriam Shor, and Samba Schutte. This sounds like it will be closer to something like Apple TV's hit show Severance rather than their other series Foundation (one of my faves) in...

Three years ago, it was announced that Sony Pictures TV had given a two-season order for a new series from Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan – a series that was described as a “blended, grounded genre drama” that’s something along the lines of the classic Rod Serling show The Twilight Zone. Gilligan’s Better Call Saul cast member Rhea Seehorn followed him over to the new show and signed on to play the lead role… and now, finally, we know when we’re going to have the chance to see it. Nearly three years after it was first announced, and following a few vague teasers from the principals over that time, some concrete details about the Apple TV+ series created by Vince Gilligan and starring Rhea Seehorn are finally available.
Well, a couple, at least.

Vince Gilligan, the mastermind behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, is back on TV after a three-year absence. His new Apple TV+ series was announced back in 2022, and now we have a title, a release date, and a mysterious teaser. Pluribus will premiere on Apple TV+ on November 7, 2025, and will center around "the most miserable person on Earth" who "must save the world from happiness." Pluribus (which means "many" or "several" in Latin) is a science fiction series set, much like Gilligan's previous two series, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It will star Rhea Seehorn, who earned rave reviews in Better Call Saul as lawyer Kim Wexler.
However, Seehorn is not in evidence in the teaser, which is titled "Happiness Is Contagious" and opens in a commercial building at night. As crickets chirp outside, a woman carefully removes donuts from a box, one by one, and gives them a big lick,...

It’s impossible not to admire what Vince Gilligan pulled off with Better Call Saul, but even the sharpest shows have their speed bumps. As a longtime fan who’s watched the series, I keep thinking about those handful of episodes I’d love to see reworked. Not because I hated them, let’s be real, “mid” for Gilligan is still better than the best of most TV.
But sometimes the pacing stumbled, a character’s arc felt off, or an entire subplot seemed to vanish as quickly as it appeared. So here it is, straight from the rewatching couch: my top five episodes I wish Gilligan would take another swing at. Maybe I’m greedy, but who doesn’t want more from Saul Goodman’s world?

Better Call Saul Star Bob Odenkirk Reveals On-Set Heart Attack That Almost Killed Him—“I Wasn’t Breathing!” ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Bob Odenkirk didn’t just collapse on the Better Call Saul set. He flatlined. In what could’ve been his final moment, the Emmy-nominated actor went down during a regular shoot day in New Mexico and by his own words, if not for his crew’s fast hands and clear heads, he’d be gone.
“I went down on one knee, and then I went all the way down. I guess I said, ‘I don’t feel very good,’” Odenkirk recalled in an interview with Radio Times (reported by The Guardian). What followed was chaos, CPR, and three defibrillator shocks. The show’s health officer had to run to her car to grab a defibrillator while the crew jumped in, performing CPR on him before the shocks brought him back.

Severance is very much in(nie) with the Television Critics Association. The Apple TV+ drama topped Wednesday’s 41st TCA Awards nominations with five bids.
Its nominations haul includes Program of the Year, drama series, and triple bids in Individual Achievement in Drama for Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and Tramell Tillman.
Four shows are tied with four nominations apiece: Adolescence, Hacks, The Pitt, and The Studio. All four plus Severance will compete in Program of the Year alongside Andor, The Rehearsal, and The White Lotus.
Last year, TCA dropped down to six slots per category after expanding to eight in 2021, but it has now reverted to eight. No reason was given for last year's or this year's change.
There was also unprecedented double-dipping last year by three shows — Baby Reindeer, Ripley, and Fargo — which were nominated in both drama and limited. There is no such case this year.

Inside Man: Most Wanted didn’t need to exist, but here it is, sitting pretty on Netflix six years later as a surprise hit. It never lived up to the legacy of Spike Lee’s original, and adding Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn didn’t exactly fix that. The sequel felt like a straight-to-stream cash grab with none of the original’s brains or tension.
But somehow, folks, it’s found an audience now. Maybe people just can’t resist a good old-fashioned heist, even when it’s wrapped in a forgettable follow-up. It’s chaotic, unnecessary, but weirdly watchable, and that’s probably enough for Netflix.

The fan-favorite heartthrob from Peaky Blinders, whose name is used synonymously with that of his character Tommy Shelby, has a favorite television drama series. Yes, you read that right, because Cillian Murphy is himself a superfan of a drama series that swooped in one too my Primetime Emmys at the respective awards ceremony: Succession.
Notably enough, this very drama show also became a nightmare for Better Call Saul year after year, with all its wins in the Emmy race, where it left the Saul Goodman story behind. In fact, the beloved Hollywood heartthrob was so intrigued and captivated by HBO’s respective superhit satirical black comedy series that he was left heartbroken when it concluded after airing for only 4 seasons!

Hollywood has been betting on sequels for decades as they are almost always guaranteed hits, especially after the huge success of a first installment. However, the recipe doesn't always work.
In 2006, two-time Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington starred in Spike Lee's successful, star-studded movie Inside Man. It was a critical and commercial hit, and over a decade later, Inside Out: Most Wanted was released. Although the sequel didn't make a splash, it achieved success on Netflix, debuting in second place in the global streaming charts, per Tudum.
Although this is not Inside Man: Most Wanted's first stint on Netflix, the movie was back in the charts for the week between May 5 and 11. It amassed 12.3 million views and 21.8 million hours viewed, debuting in second place just behind Vince Vaughn's new feel-good comedy Nonnas. The heist film entered the Top 10 in 69 countries, and became the number one film in 21 territories across the globe.

An actor who decides to direct may inspire an eyeroll: Well, of course they can. After leading a hit show, what producer will say no?
A powerful actor who wants to direct has an advantage others won’t. At the same time, to become directors Tyler James Williams, Ayo Edebiri, Jason Bateman, and Rhea Seehorn had to be willing to step away from the comfort zone of their expertise and see themselves as beginners.
They also took advantage of a Hollywood truism: People work with people they know, and the only way to make yourself known is to be excellent around the people who can hire you to do the work. It’s the same logic that creates a script supervisor-director (Karyn Kusama), a Pa-producer (Kevin Feige), or an art coordinator-Oscar-winning production designer (Hannah Beachler).
Here’s what these actors say they learned while making the transition.

Rhea Seehorn and Vince Gilligan are back in action with their new Apple TV+ series, and this time, it is going to be a mind game of the first order. With his cult classic shows that revolved around meth labs and courtrooms, this time around, he is bringing a psychological treat for his viewers, that too in a sci-fi setting.
Hold up before you start imagining a Jetsons kind of backdrop with spaceships flying and people living in a post-apocalyptic world. This is going to be a more human form of sci-fi.

The deal was finalized over the weekend, we hear, with employees at Shout! being notified this morning. It came following rumblings of multiple layoffs at boutique distributor Gravitas. When Deadline reached out to various staff members at the distributor, we were met with bounce-backs, seemingly confirming sudden departures.
The ambition on Shout!’s part is to grow its content portfolio with the acquisition of entertainment companies and their content libraries, while continuing to partner with independent rights owners to monetize content and launch new streaming channels.
Going forward, Shout! Studios and Gravitas Ventures will operate as two distinct brands. Each will continue to actively distribute content from its respective catalogue, leveraging a scaled combined distribution organization to better monetize content across traditional and digital channels. The deal gives Shout! access to more than 3,300 scripted,...

“Better Call Saul!” That’s where it all started. That smile. That damned smile. We became fans of Bob Odenkirk ever since that infamous commercial aired in Breaking Bad.
We became fans of Jimmy McGill, aka Saul Goodman, when iconic writers Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould wrote the story for Better Call Saul. However, Bob Odenkirk had some initial doubts about the spin-off.

There was no doubt in the iconic character of Saul Goodman. The man knows how to steal the spotlight whenever he makes an appearance in Breaking Bad. Helping Walter White and Jesse Pinkman run their drug empire, it was time for this attorney to get his own show.

The crime drama genre reached an all-time high when Breaking Bad took over the AMC screens in 2008. What started with no networks showing interest in the project to it being one of the most loved shows out there, this masterpiece has truly come a long way. Born out of the genius of Vince Gilligan, the show depicted how decisions can turn someone’s life upside down.
In Breaking Bad’s case it was Bryan Cranston’s Walter White, who, after his cancer diagnosis, wants to provide for his family. But his plan quickly spirals out of control into a chilling journey of greed and destruction. After this show came its prequel, Better Call Saul, and it’s safe to say that it perfectly captured the essence of its predecessor.

The show Better Call Saul dives deeper into the backstory of morally bankrupt lawyer Saul Goodman.

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Better Call Saul Season 6.
Across its six-season run, Better Call Saul, the prequel to AMC's beloved Breaking Bad, achieved the rare feat of transcending its predecessor to become an acclaimed series in its own right. As with all prequels, Better Call Saul had the tricky task of not only setting up the events of Breaking Bad, but also bringing the story of Albuquerque's shiftiest lawyer to a satisfying conclusion. Thankfully, showrunners Peter Gould, Vince Gilligan, and their writing team managed to pull it off, and then some. But with nearly three years since the show's conclusion, even the biggest fans of Gilligan's meth-ridden New Mexico might have forgotten exactly what happened to all the series' main characters. Let's take a look at where Better Call Saul leaves its (anti)heroes.
