HBO Max is making a terrible mistake canceling And Just Like That
Image
It's time to say goodbye to the Sex and the City universe all over again. On Aug. 1 following the drop of And Just Like That season 3 episode 10, showrunner Michael Patrick King released a statement announcing that the sequel series is ending. According to King, he made the decision to end the series while writing the last two episodes of season 3, which are now the two-part series finale.

In his statement, he explains that he realized the season 3 finale was "a wonderful place to stop" and that he made the decision alongside star Sarah Jessica Parker and HBO Max bosses Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey. However, even though he and Parker knew the show was ending ahead of the season 3 premiere, they opted to keep it a secret from fans until now.

While they didn't want the concept of season 3 being the "final season" to cast a shadow over the enjoyment of the episodes,...

Sarah Jessica Parker is breaking her silence on the cancellation of And Just Like That…

On Friday (August 1), showrunner Michael Patrick King announced that the Sex and the City spinoff series will be ending after season 3, which is currently airing on HBO Max.

The 60-year-old Emmy-winning actress then took to Instagram to pen a farewell message to the show.

Keep reading to find out more…“She crossed streets, avenues, Rubicons, so it seemed. She broke hearts, heels, habits,” Sjp wrote along with photos of her character Carrie Bradshaw from over the years. “She loved, lost, won, tripped, leaped, fell short and into puddles, aged, got wiser. She has made the hardest, worst and best decisions, traveled near and far for the new, the vintage, friends and love.”

“Changed homes, time zones, boyfriends, her mind, her shoes, her hair, but never her love and devotion to New York City. She had dates,...

And Just Like That… It’s over. On Friday, director Michael Patrick King announced that the Sex and the City revival show that started airing its third season recently will end with a two-part finale, releasing on Aug. 14.

“The ongoing storytelling of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end,” King opened his statement. “When I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That… season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop.”

‘And Just Like That’ Delivers an Inevitable Breakup, but Is It Really the End?
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from “And Just Like That” Season 3, Episode 9.

“And Just Like That” just gave viewers a breakup that seemed inevitable, but is it really the end for this “Sex and the City” couple?

Episode 9, titled “Present Tense,” followed as Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Aidan (John Corbett) dealt with lingering trust issues in their relationship which, after a season’s worth of compromises, finally pushed Carrie to call it quits. Her working relationship with Duncan (Jonathan Cake) had been making Aidan uncomfortable for some time now, but this week’s late notetaking session between him and Carrie led to the final argument.

Stuck in the past

Early in the episode, Carrie was surprised to find that Aidan and her neighbor were hanging out. The hangout made her uncomfortable since she had asked Aidan to stay away, assuring him that there was only a professional connection between the two authors.

And Just Like That Season 3's Confusing Lisa Todd Wexley "Plot Hole" Officially Solved After Backlash
Image
Warning! Spoilers For And Just Like That Season 3, Episode 6, "Silent Mode"

And Just Like That's latest episode appeared to present a plot hole concerning Lisa Todd Wexley, but that isn't the case. Charlotte's good friend and a documentarian, Ltw is one of the main characters in Ajlt, and in season 3, episode 6, "Silent Mode," her father passed away.

This was one of the show's more tragic storylines, but it was somewhat marred for diehard fans who remembered a comment Ltw made in season 1 that conflicts with her dad's death. After Big died in AJLTseason 1, Lisa said to Charlotte, "I was exactly the same when my father died last year."

However, Entertainment Weeklyhas cleared up the confusion. They reported that Lisa was speaking about her late stepfather in And Just Like That season 1, not her biological father, who was introduced in season 2. This news comes after intense backlash, which went viral on...

‘And Just Like That’ Fans Point Out That Series Killed Off Nicole Ari Parker’s Character’s Father Twice Amid Plot Hole
Image
Updated: A source close to the series tells IndieWire that the deceased “dad” in Season 1 of “And Just Like That” is Lisa Todd Wexley’s stepfather.

Earlier: And just like that, a major continuity error in the HBO Max series of the same name has left fans scratching their heads.

On last week’s episode of “And Just Like That” Season 3, titled “Silent Mode” and written by Susan Fales-Hill, moneyed Park Avenue documentary filmmaker Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) was forced to mourn the unexpected offscreen death of her father (Billy Dee Williams). However, as some “Sex and the City” fans on social media observed, Lisa’s father had already died — in Season 1.

The episode “Silent Mode” showed Lisa attending her father’s funeral at a local theater — he was a stage actor — but as fans pointed out (see the TikTok below), Lisa told her friend Charlotte Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis...

And Just Like That season 3 episode 6 made two shocking mistakes (recap)
Image
This post contains spoilers from And Just Like That season 3 episode 6 from this point forward.

If you're an And Just Like That viewer who has caught up on the most recent episodes of season 3 and have been on the internet recently, then you're fully aware of the awkward, if not humorous, snafu the series has made. A character who was already six feet under was seemingly brought back from the dead just to be killed off again. Yes, this really happened.

And Just Like That season 3 episode 6 sees Lisa grieving her 90-year-old father's death from a fatal stroke. She spends much of the episode not only experiencing the grief of not having a chance to say goodbye but sparring with his girlfriend, played by Jenifer Lewis, over the funeral arrangements. In the end, Lisa doesn't get her way, but that's not what everyone's talking about.

Following Big's death in season...

And Just Like That season 3 episode 5 drops a devastating bombshell (recap)
Image
This post contains spoilers from And Just Like That season 3 episode 5 from this point forward.

A few weeks ago, I knocked And Just Like That season 3 for not giving Charlotte meaningful stories. So far this season, Charlotte has feuded at the dog park, forced her daughter to work with a demeaning college counselor, and struggled to keep up with her younger coworkers. It's not exactly the same level of personal or professional storylines that Carrie, Miranda, or Seema have.

In And Just Like That season 3 episode 5, Carrie's the one having a sitcom-worthy dispute with her downstairs neighbor and her temporary roommate Miranda. Carrie's heels cause a disturbance in sleep for Duncan Reeves (Jonathan Cake), who's an author working on his next project, while she feels territorial with Miranda eating her yogurt and walking around her house naked at night. This week, Carrie even called on the sage wisdom of Samantha via text message.

‘And Just Like That’ Star Cynthia Nixon on Why Miranda’s New Love Interest Is ‘Wonderful in a Different Way Than Steve’
Image
Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for “Apples to Apples,” Season 3, Episode 4 of “And Just Like That,” now streaming on Max.

Miranda Hobbes is in a place we’ve never seen her before — living as a single queer woman dating in New York.

As played by Cynthia Nixon, Miranda began the “Sex and the City” reboot series “And Just Like That” with her sexual awakening, diving into a relationship with nonbinary comedian Che Díaz (Sara Ramírez). Their Season 2 breakup forced Miranda into the dating pool (with which she was somewhat familiar) among fellow queer women (with which she was not).

In the new season’s fourth episode, Miranda tapes an appearance on the BBC that goes catastrophically wrong — at least as far as the perfectionist Miranda is concerned — when she slips and uses a crass anatomical term when trying to say the word “country.” BBC producer Joy (Dolly Wells) sees the humor in the moment,...

"This Should Have Been In Season 1 Episode 1": And Just Like That Star Reflects On Seema's Exciting Season 3 Story Twist
Image
Warning! Spoilers For And Just Like That Season 3, Episode 3, "Carrie Golightly"

Sarita Choudhury, Seema in the Sex and the City reboot, shared her thoughts on her character's exciting development in And Just Like That season 3, saying that it should have happened sooner. And Just Like That introduced Choudhury’s Seema Patel in season 1. Seema was Carrie’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) real estate agent in the first season, helping her sell the flat she shared with her late husband, John, also known as Mr. Big (Chris Noth). While Seema was just one of many supporting women added to And Just Like That’s cast, she has taken a leading role in season 3.

Speaking to Variety about Patel’s latest development, Choudhury said it was the best move for her character. She wondered why it hadn’t happened sooner, saying, “This should have been in Season 1, Episode 1." The actor also reflected on...

And Just Like That season 3 episode 3 doesn't make a great case for Aidan
Image
We're only a third of the way through And Just Like That's 12-episode third season, and Carrie's romantic arc has already grown sour. After reuniting in season 2, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Aidan (John Corbett) have rekindled their flame from long ago in Sex and the City. Before this second act, Satc fans had always wanted Carrie and Aidan together, but it's hard to root for that now.

Since the ending of season 2, which saw Aidan needing to rush home to Virginia and focus on being a present father for his sons, And Just Like That has dealt with the struggles of Carrie and Aidan's long-distance relationship. He's had to put up some boundaries in order to prioritize his children, but that's come at the cost of Carrie own happiness. It's frustrating to watch.

Obviously, And Just Like That needs conflict, but seeing Carrie hold onto this relationship that...

And Just Like That has a Charlotte problem Sex and the City never did
Image
This post contains spoilers from And Just Like That season 3 episode 2.

Whenever a new season of And Just Like That premieres on HBO Max, the popular joke on social media is that it's the "worst" show on television. It might not be as good as its predecessor, but calling it across-the-board bad, even while still enjoying the mindless entertainment, is a little dramatic. The show has its strengths... and its faults.

Even though the third season has only aired two episodes, it's becoming increasingly clear that there's very little vision in place for Charlotte (Kristin Davis). Sex and the City never had this issue with the character, always knowing where to go with her development. And Just Like That has been treading water with Charlotte and her funny but benign sitcom side quests.

‘And Just Like That’ Star Sarita Choudhury Unpacks Seema’s Matchmaker Woes: ‘I’m Glad She Was Tested’
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from “And Just Like That” Season 3, Episode 2.

Since its very first episode, “Sex and the City” grappled with a question that has haunted women for eons: Should you settle? It’s a conundrum that’s haunted Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and — to a lesser degree — Samantha over the decades. But in the third season of “And Just Like That,” it’s a problem that belongs wholly to Sarita Choudhury’s fearless and fabulous Seema.

After breaking off a relationship with the handsome but work-obsessed Ravi (Armin Amiri), Seema’s coworker sets her up with a matchmaker in Episode 2. The matchmaker’s advice to wear pastels and stay quiet and bubbly horrifies Seema to her core. But though she disagrees with the other woman and leaves with no notable dates, it’s an experience that forces Seema to re-evaluate her love life.

“I’m glad she was tested.

Celebrating The Birth Anniversary Of The Iconic Nutan, Amitabh Bachchan Speaks Exclusively
Image
Was there an actress more enchanting and engaging than Nutan? One thing is for sure. Nutan was unlike any other screen legend. She wasn’t a conventional beauty like Madhubala, nor as sprightly and spontaneous as Geeta Bali, or as graceful and rhythmic as Vyjayanthimala.

And yet, there was something about Nutan. Something deep and knowledgeable, as though she had unearthed the secret of the universe and couldn’t live with the burden of the knowledge. Born in 1931, Nutan Samarth was introduced to the screen by her mother, the legendary-in-her-own-right Shobhana Samarth, in a film aptly entitled Hamari Beti. Earlier stalwarts like Chandulal Shah and K Asif had offered her roles. But the doting mother took it upon herself to launch her beti.

Ironically, Nutan fell out with her mother over property disputes. The two women didn’t speak to each other for nearly two decades. Nutan was a fascinating mixture of steel and satin.

And Just Like That Is Back — and We Need to Talk About Carrie’s New Hat
Image
And Just Like That… kicked off Season 3 this week, and we have plenty of questions about Carrie and Aidan’s relationship. But mostly, we have questions about Carrie’s new hat.

In the premiere, Carrie took a leisurely walk through New York City’s Washington Square Park with her pal Seema, chatting about the men in their lives. But we have to admit: We didn’t hear most of what they were saying, because we were too busy gawking at the monstrosity perched on top of Carrie’s head.

‘And Just Like That’ Star Sarita Choudhury Reveals What Would Happen If She Was Carrie’s Matchmaker
Image
From “Mississippi Masala” to “Homeland” to Carrie Bradshaw’s land, Sarita Choudhury has lived an exciting and diverse life on screen. Choudhury plays Seema, one of Carrie Bradshaw’s closest friends on “And Just Like That,” and Seema shines as one of the strongest characters on the “Sex and the City” sequel. In fact, it’s hard to remember the city without Seema.

IndieWire sat down with Choudhury to discuss season 3 — all things sex, Seema, dating, love, Carrie, Aidan, and of course, the only city that matters, New York! Choudhury opens about her co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, and Nicole Ari Parker.

And she also weighs in on comparisons between Seema and Samantha Jones, Kim Cattrall’s longtime “Sex and the City” missing-in-action mainstay (she reveals whether Samantha and Seema would get along). Choudhury also confesses the big risk she took for her “Ajlt” Zoom audition that probably got her the role.

And Just Like That Premiere: Carrie and Aidan’s Long-Distance Romance Hits an Embarrassing Snag (Plus, Grade It!)
Image
Summer is here, and And Just Like That… is back for Season 3 — but Carrie and Aidan’s romance isn’t exactly turning up the heat.

As Thursday’s Season 3 premiere opens, Carrie and her beau are still separated, with him moving back to Virginia to take care of his sons, but they’re keeping in touch by exchanging postcards… with nothing written on them. (She’s sending him photos of old New York, and Miranda quips: “To remind him you’re getting old in New York?”) Carrie insists that she and Aidan have been together a long time, and they...

And Just Like That season 3 episode 1 recap: Nun of your business
Image
This post contains spoilers from And Just Like That season 3 episode 1 from this point forward.

It's been nearly two years since we last caught up with Carrie Bradshaw and the gang in And Just Like That, but they're finally back with season 3 on HBO Max. When we last left Carrie in season 2, she and Aidan rekindled their romance, but just when things were heating up, he needed to return home to be with his children. He asks Carrie to wait for him for five years. Five years!

Carrie believes she's up for the task, but she quickly learns that long-distance relationships and limited communication might be harder than she anticipated. She even butts heads with Anthony over it, but we'll get to that! Elsewhere in the And Just Like That season 3 premiere, Miranda has a fling with guest star Rosie O'Donnell, and Seema makes a big decision.

How ‘And Just Like That’ Season 3 Pivots Carrie and Aidan
Image
[This story contains spoilers from the And Just Like That season three premiere.]

After blowing up their central couple, And Just Like That has returned with a new chapter in its love story for Carrie and Aidan.

The sequel series had renewed the romance between Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her Sex and the City ex, but ended with the couple parting ways in the season two finale. Aidan (John Corbett) asked Carrie to wait five years so he could focus on being the primary parent to his youngest child. “We haven’t seen each other in 10 years and it went by like that (snaps his fingers),” Aidan told Carrie. When he repeated his five-year ask, he didn’t snap. “I already did and you didn’t see it; that’s how quick it was.”

Aidan was sure that the soulmates could make it work. Was it fair what he was asking of Carrie? Will Carrie wait?...

‘And Just Like That’ Season 3 Review: ‘Sex and the City’ Reboot Is Getting Better
Image
I can imagine a Carrie Bradshaw voiceover telling me that some things are just worth the wait. She’d be talking about a waiting list for a pair of great new shoes, an aging wine or a New York apartment, but we’d know that she was really telling us that women in their 50s, like her and her friends, were the subtext. This character loves a strained metaphor at least as much as she loves luxury accessories. And perhaps she’d try to persuade me that this metaphor also applies to her show, HBO Max’s “Sex and the City” reboot with the equally strained title “And Just Like That …,” which is returning Thursday for its third season in a wildly uneven run thus far.

As I approached watching this time around, I couldn’t help but wonder: How many chances are too many chances to grant a beloved franchise’s frenzied reboot?...

Is Carrie Bradshaw Selfless Now?
Image
When the news hit that Sex and the City was getting a sequel series, And Just Like That…, fans knew it couldn’t possibly be the same. Kim Cattrall’s well-publicized choice not to return to the role of Samantha was only the most obvious indicator — even if she had come back, viewers would be reuniting with the characters after they’d had marriages, children, career wins, career losses and all the other major changes that come with a couple of decades of living. And Just Like That… has honored both its protagonists and the fans who’d grown into middle age with them by portraying its leads as busy, vital and (most importantly) horny. But after watching the first six episodes of the imminent third season, I can’t help wondering: Is Carrie going to have Any fun this season?

This is a serious question, because And Just Like That…...

Everything You Need to Know About ‘And Just Like That’ Season 3
Image
It is remarkable to see how some stories live on well beyond their lifetimes in different ways. Some are passed on by the spoken word, generation after generation, some become eternal through the written word, and some end up inspiring art and media through their ever-relatable themes. Candace Bushnell’s newspaper column, Sex and the City, for The New York Observer from 1994 to 1996 is one such example.

It became eternalized when it was published as an anthology book in 1996. Subsequently, it was adapted into a series of the same name that ran from 1998 to 2004, then a film of the same name in 2008, and a 2010 sequel. It received another lease of life when it was adapted into the HBO Max series, And Just Like That… in 2021. Even though it was initially classified as a one-off miniseries, the third season of the series will be released soon.

The game-changing second season, which saw the death of a majorly beloved character drops its season finale on Sunday, May 25. In case you need some levity that evening, The Rehearsal...

The Sex and the City revival series And Just Like That... will be back soon. As Max unveiled the official trailer for the upcoming Season 3, it also teased that Carrie and Aidan are not over after all.

And Just Like That... brought back three of the four universally adored Sex and the City leads, Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda. Image
Max’s Sex and the City sequel And Just Like That … will return with its third season on May 29. A new trailer (above) reveals that Aidan (John Corbett) is back, but it’s complicated. But isn’t it always?

When last we saw Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), she and her longtime love, who wasn’t Mr. Big, had a major discussion about the future of their relationship. Aidan is now divorced and raising his three sons in Virginia, where his ex-wife lives and shares in the responsibilities. During one of Aidan’s quick trips to New York to be with Carrie, his underage son Wyatt took his dad’s truck without permission and went on a joyride while under the influence of alcohol and mushrooms.

Aidan rushed back to Virginia to be by his injured child and realized he had neglected the boys while traveling back and forth to the Big Apple.

‘And Just Like That’ Season 3 Trailer: Carrie Bradshaw Is Back on the Market, But Will Aidan Break Her Heart Again?
Image
“And Just Like That” is missing a certain je n’ais Che quoi.

The third season of the “Sex and the City” revival series is also the first installment sans “controversial character” (in the words of series staple Cynthia Nixon) Che Diaz, who was played by Sara Ramirez. Che was a stand-up comedian who became the love interest of Miranda (Nixon) and kickstarted her coming out story.

And Season 3 of “And Just Like That” also picks up after Samantha Jones’ (Kim Cattrall) shocking cameo and Carrie’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) third split with Aidan (John Corbett). But don’t worry, Corbett is set to reprise his role for Season 3, along with series leads Parker, Nixon, and Kristin Davis. And he seems to be back with Carrie too…

The core group is rounded out by Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, Christopher Jackson, Niall Cunningham, Cathy Ang, Sebastiano Pigazzi,...
