In the original movie, released in 1997, Sinbad played Mr. Wheat, a high school teacher for Dexter Reed (Kenan Thompson). The character was a key part of the first film, as Dexter crashing into his teacher's car was what led to the teen taking a job at Good Burger, putting the events of the film in motion. Mr. Wheat was not shown on-screen in Good Burger 2, but the sequel still found a way to include Sinbad, as the actor and comedian has a vocal cameo that may not be picked up on right away by most viewers. Kel Mitchell was all smiles at the Good Burger 2 premiere in New York on Monday night, just days after he experienced a “genuinely frightening” medical incident.

The actor seemed to be in good spirits at the Regal Union Square event, where he was accompanied by wife Asia Lee-Mitchell and their children, with Kel and Asia carrying their excited kids down the carpet.

Later, when Mitchell’s longtime onscreen collaborator and Good Burger 2 co-star Kenan Thompson arrived, one of Mitchell’s kids ran straight to Thompson, who gave the child a hug.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter before the screening of the Paramount+ sequel, Mitchell insisted he’s “good,” something he’s said multiple times since the health scare.

But he also shared some perspective on the incident and indicated that he was happily persevering.

Variety has learned exclusively that the comedy duo, who star in the upcoming film “Good Burger 2,” will be onboard when the Burgermobile from the film takes part in the 97th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

It was previously announced that the iconic car would be part of the parade, though Thompson and Mitchell’s participation was not known at that time. The streaming service released the trailer Monday for director Phil Traill’s film that is set to launch Nov. 22. The movie centers on Dexter (Thompson) and Ed (Mitchell) reuniting as staff members at Good Burger as the pair attempt to help the struggling fast food establishment amid its parent company’s plans to grow the brand.

This footage shows plenty of hijinks for the two leads as they get reconnected. “It really means a lot that you came to see me,” Mitchell tells Thompson.

At a different point in the trailer, the guys learn that MegaCorp is planning to expand Good Burger globally but intends to fire the restaurant’s staff. “MegaCorp wants to replace everybody with robots,” Thompson warns. “We gotta do something!”

"Good Burger" is a rather unlikely success story of '90s kids' entertainment. Back in the '90s, Nickelodeon created a sketch comedy show titled "All That," which was essentially the kids' version of "Saturday Night Live." It ran absurd sketches and launched the careers of many actors like Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon, Katrina Johnson, Jack DeSena, Kel Mitchell, and Kenan Thompson — who would go on to become the longest-reigning "SNL" cast member ever.

Paramount+ and Nickelodeon Studios announced Friday additional cast members for “Good Burger 2,” the long-awaited sequel to the 90’s film starring Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. Lil Rey Howery, Jillian Bell and more will appear in the film alongside Thompson and co-star Kel Mitchell, with the sequel set to air on Paramount+ later this year.

In addition to Howery and Bell, new additions announced for the film include Kamaia Fairburn ​​Alex R. Hibbert, Fabrizio Guido, Elizabeth Hinkler and Anabel Graetz.

The film is a sequel to the 1997 Brian Robbins-directed comedy, which was based on the recurring sketch on the Nickelodeon series “All That.” The first film centered around Ed (Mitchell) and Dexter Reed (Thompson) as they try to save the old burger joint at which they both work.

The sequel will see the two reunite in the present day. The new film’s description reads:

Good Burger is back in business in Good Burger 2. The sequel was officially announced in March with original stars Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell confirming that they'll reunite to reprise their roles from the first movie as Dexter and Ed. Filming has since started in North Providence, Rhode Island, where set images and even some footage reveals our first look at the movie. Nickelodeon has issued an order for 13 more episodes of the new spin on the ’90s sketch comedy show, taking the total episode count for season 1 of the revival to 26. Variety reported exclusively back in February that an “All That” revival was in the works, and it has aired 10 episodes to date. The premiere featured the Jonas Brothers as musical guests.

The kids cabler also announced a new cast member joining the lineup in Aria Brooks from Atlanta, Ga. She joins fellow cast members Ryan Alessi, Reece Caddell, Kate Godfrey, Gabrielle Nevaeh Green, Nathan Janak, Lex Lumpkin and Chinguun Sergelen.
