He might not have as much of a legacy as Ghostface, but the hook-wielding Ben Willis left a mark in the surge of '90s slasher movies when he told a group of irresponsible teens, "I Know What You Did Last Summer." Cutting into the competition of masked killers in 1997, the film helped boost the careers of stars like Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe.
The horror franchise returned this year with a legacy sequel that (in keeping with the legacy sequel title trend) is also simply called "I Know What You Did Last Summer"). Hewitt and Prinze reprise their roles as Julie James and Ray Bronson, and a new group of teens are forced to confront past mistakes that turn a hit-and-run into a horrifying killing spree.

If you're a casual fan of slasher films, you may think an article about who the killer turns out to be in the latest "I Know What You Did Last Summer" movie is fairly standard. Yet the property, despite its resemblance to other slasher franchises, has a few subversive tricks up its sleeve. For one thing, even though it's technically a whodunit film series carrying on the template that began in Lois Duncan's source novel, the reveal of who the killer or killers are in each film isn't typical. To wit: Ben Willis (Muse Watson) was the killer in both the original 1997 movie and its sequel, 1998's "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer," which added Willis' son Will (Matthew Settle) as his accomplice. In the direct-to-video sequel "I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer,...

The I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise is back with a killer new chapter in 2025. It’s not holding back. The franchise has slashed its way through generations of guilty teens. Now the legacy sequel sees Jennifer Love Hewitt’s iconic Julie James and Freddie Prinze Jr. back in their roles.
Since 1997, the series has delivered mask killers, shocking twists, and now even more betrayals. But who wore the hook best? Is it the original killer Fisherman or the killers from the supernatural spin-offs, or the short-lived Prime Video TV series? Here’s a full ranking of every killer across the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise.

I genuinely want to know if anyone warned Jack Black about the post-credits scene in the new “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” He’s not in it, but it’s sure to draw attention to a mostly forgotten misfire from much earlier in the “Minecraft Movie” actor’s career.
Black was 29 years old when he played Titus Telesco, a white Bahamian pool boy with a weed habit and dreads.

1997's "I Know What You Did Last Summer," along with the series of films (and TV show) that followed it, is generally regarded as a slasher. More specifically, it's a whodunit slasher, the type that carries on the tradition of murder mysteries made famous by Agatha Christie as much as they revel in staging kill scenes. This type of slasher tends to tone down the element of the supernatural as seen in something like John Carpenter's "Halloween," which contains a lot of mysterious goings-on involving its masked killer that can't be easily explained or rationalized. This tone for "Ikwydls" was established in large part by Lois Duncan's 1973 novel of the same name, but "Ikwydls" screenwriter Kevin Williamson reworked the murder mystery into a more true-to-form slasher, much to Duncan's chagrin.

Per Bloody Disgusting, the steelbook will feature new artwork by Orlando Arocena, and the movie will be presented in 4K with Dolby Vision. Want more? The steelbook comes with bonus content, including an audio commentary with co-writer/director White and a commentary with producer Brad Fuller. Leighton Meester is speaking out about her Gossip Girl co-star Michelle Trachtenberg’s death for the first time.
Trachtenberg, who played Georgina Sparks on the hit drama, died in February at age 39 from complications of diabetes mellitus, the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner previously confirmed.
“It’s devastating,” Meester said in a recent Flaunt cover story. “She was a wonderful, talented person, and everyone loved her. It’s very, very sad for everyone who knew her.”
The actress, who played Blair Waldorf on the show, added, “Now, I can see that [the show’s legacy] continues—in some ways, even more so than back then—to live on, which is incredible.”

Any project involving Steven Spielberg should be easy to watch online, especially if it stars bona fide greats like Josh Brolin, Keri Russell, Will Patton, Alan Tudyk, Sean Astin, Gary Busey, Skeet Ulrich, and Michael Spears. However, "Into the West" -- a Western drama the "Jurassic Park" director produced for Dreamworks Television and TNT in the mid-2000s -- proves that even star-studded Spielberg ensemble pieces can get lost in the ether.
"Into the West" is an ambitious project, with all six episodes clocking in at almost two hours each and covering a lot of American history. What's more, the series tapped some notable directors to helm the saga, including horse opera veteran Simon Wincer, who directed one of the all-time great Westerns in "Lonesome Dove."
The story takes place in the 1800s and spans several decades, with the cusp of it chronicling the Westward Expansion from the perspective of a white man,...

It wasn’t easy for Penn Badgley to leave his “Gossip Girl” character Dan Humphrey behind after the CW drama ended in 2012.
In a recent appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Badgley admitted that it was difficult to “move on” from the role after starring in the hit series for six seasons.
“It was a struggle,” Badgley said. “When you do a film, you do it once and give it your all, and then you move on… When you do a television show, you’re doing it constantly because of the nature of that show.”
He continued, “I was 20, 21, 22, so I didn’t have the emotional maturity to understand how to differentiate myself in terms of self-worth. What people seemed to think of Dan seemed to be what people thought of me.”
Badgley added that the “celebrity culture” in the late 2000s didn’t help either. During the peak of “Gossip Girl,...

This article contains spoilers for the season 2 premiere of "The Last of Us."
In the season 2 premiere of HBO's massive hit series "The Last of Us" — based on Naughty Dog's critically-acclaimed video game "The Last of Us Part II" — we reunite with Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) and his surrogate daughter Ellie (Bella Ramsey) five years after the first season concluded. They're living peacefully in the heavily protected settlement in Jackson, Wyoming. Though we don't know exactly why at first, there's considerable enmity between Joel and Ellie, despite the closeness of their relationship. As a result, both of them have been spending more time with Dina (Isabela Merced) — albeit separately — and during a party celebrating the new year, Dina and Ellie shared an unexpected moment ... and kiss.
That moment is unfortunately interrupted by a Jackson resident named Seth who owns the local bar.

Given the juggernaut that the "Scream" franchise became, it feels like that property is the obvious and uncontested champion of the wave of teen horror films that it spawned. Not so fast, Ghostface — while other contenders like the "Urban Legend" and "Dracula 2000" movies petered out long ago, the Fisherman manages to keep coming back for more.
That's right: Another Kevin Williamson-penned horror film, 1997's "I Know What You Did Last Summer" has spawned two sequels, a reboot series in 2021, and a legacy sequel due out in 2025 (at the time of writing). While that's not yet enough to rival "Scream," it's impressive that the franchise is far from dead, especially considering how many bizarre twists and turns the property's continuity has taken over its relatively short lifespan. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson has a message for fans who want to know if Brandy Norwood will appear in the upcomingI Know What You Did Last Summer sequel: “You’ll have to go see the movie.” Recently speaking with People, the Do Revenge helmer was reluctant to share too much about the possibility of the pop superstar reprising her role as Karla Wilson from the 1998 film I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. With fellow survivors, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. having long been signed on to be part of the legacy follow-up, all eyes have been focused on Norwood as another original member of the friend group who nearly got caught on the hook of the crazed killer.
The actress has previously made comments surrounding her hopeful return to the slasher epic, and Robinson has been clear from the jump that her movie will honor the original and its 1998 follow-up as canon.

An official synopsis and poster for I Know What You Did Last Summer were also released. Per Bloody Disgusting, the legacy sequel's synopsis reads, "When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer…and is hell-bent on revenge. Based (very loosely) on Cecily von Ziegesar's book series, "Gossip Girl" started its run on The CW in 2007 and, in the hands of Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, let us into the exclusive world of a bunch of uber-wealthy Manhattan teenagers, all of whom were played by beautiful twenty-somethings. The whole story begins with the return of the troubled but beautiful socialite Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively), who ran away to boarding school in Connecticut after some sort of traumatizing life experience before the show's narrative began — and when she does come back to New York, she tries to start fresh. Unfortunately for her, that's not an option thanks to one conniving, unhinged troublemaker: Georgina Sparks, played to perfection by Michelle Trachtenberg.

The Boys is one of Amazon Prime's biggest hits, and it's easy to see why so many viewers connect with the explosive action-adventure TV show. The series premiered during the height of popularity for superhero movies and TV series and takes a darker and more satirical spin on this genre, making the heroic figures of these narratives much more flawed. Whether the actors in The Boys are playing struggling heroes or brutal antagonists, each character makes its mark and brings an unforgettable dynamic to The Boys, making the series what it is today.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is about to get a new sequel with a new cast and its two main legacy characters, through which it’s officially fixing the second movie’s ending, but risks repeating a huge legacy sequel mistake. Despite some failures, the horror genre continues to thrive with reboots and legacy sequels, through which it has brought back to life franchises that had seemingly ended years ago. Among the most exciting additions to this trend is I Know What You Did Last Summer, which is returning after a forgotten direct-to-video sequel in 2006 and a failed TV show in 2021.

There’s a new sequel to the 1997 slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer (watch it Here) and its 1998 follow-up I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (watch that one Here) coming our way from director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) – and the project’s official X account has just unveiled a behind-the-scenes image to announce that production is underway!
The image shows a clapperboard for the filming of scene 50B, which involves a computer monitor that looks like it’s left over from the ’90s and a hook that has a slightly different design than the hooks we saw in the previous movies:

Based on the book by Cecily von Ziegesar, Gossip Girl aired for six seasons from 2007 to 2012 on The CW. Several young stars -- such as Kristen Bell, Blake Lively, and Taylor Momsen -- got their breakout roles on the show. Momsen starred as Jenny Humphrey and was a series regular for three seasons before being put on indefinite hiatus during Season 4.
Taylor Momsen's sudden disappearance -- and the fact that she never returned for more than a few guest spots -- led fans to wonder why Jenny Humphrey left Gossip Girl. She was a crucial character in the early years of the show. But Momsen had a varied, successful career that ultimately pulled her in too many directions.

TV characters have disappeared from shows without explanation, including seemingly important supporting characters involved in a romantic subplot with a member of the main cast. This gives the impression that they are just a passing fling in the life of someone who frequently dates casually. While this is representative of real life, it is still irritating when a love interest character with a lot of potential in their own right is unceremoniously dropped from the show.
Many great female TV characters don't get what they deserve when they are treated as a side note in a male character's storyline. Occasionally, the show implies that they are the start of a bigger story, but never follows through. It is most frustrating when this person could have been the perfect match for one of the TV show's main characters, but they were only envisioned as a one-off arc. Half of Ted Mosby's...

Dad Shows focus on action-packed sequences and tense storylines to engage viewers, regardless of gender or parental status. Peaky Blinders and Breaking Bad are considered Dad Shows due to their blend of suspenseful crime drama and engrossing storylines. Shows like Mash and Yellowstone give off Dad vibes with their themes of perseverance, family, and relatable characters.
In recent years, the subgenre of "Dad Shows" in TV has soared in popularity, and some of the best series ever can be placed into this category. Although the definition has fluctuated, Dad Shows typically focus on topics such as seeking justice, violence, spies, and crime, but this has never been an exclusive rule. Talented series creators held back answers for years to create intense TV mysteries that paid off in the end. Show mysteries like Gossip Girl's identity, Benjen's fate in Game of Thrones, and Janitor's name in Scrubs captivated audiences. Superman star Nathan Fillion appreciates the "flawed" nature of his DC Universe character, Guy Gardner/The Green Lantern. The acclaimed actor suggests Guy's quirks add to his lore and give him the "freedom" to portray the superhero well.
Speaking with Collider, Fillion delved into how he's been preparing to play Guy in Superman and throughout his Dcu run. According to Fillion, Guy knows he's flawed and owns it, making the character more appealing. "The reality is that people have flaws," Fillion said. "We all have quirks. We all have vulnerabilities. You could have the most wonderful family, but be like, 'Oh, my God, my dad drives me nuts. He's got this one thing.' Everybody's got something, and I love to lean into those faults and flaws. It's what makes people real and what allows audiences to relate, because we all know what that is."
