Colombo, July 23 (Ians) Pakistan ‘A’ won the 2023 Emerging Men’s Asia Cup title for the second straight time after thumping India ‘A’ by 128 runs in the final at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium here on Sunday.

Pakistan ‘A’ had suffered a comprehensive eight-wicket defeat to India ‘A’ in the group stage. But on Sunday, they managed to turn the tables in the title clash, thanks to Tayyab Tahir’s blistering 108 off 71 balls, laced with 12 fours and four sixes.

Colombo, July 21 (Ians) India A defeated Bangladesh A by 51 runs in a low-scoring semifinal to set-up the final clash of Acc Men’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023 with Pakistan A at R. Premadasa Stadium, here on Friday.

Batting first, India were bowled out for 211 with captain Yash Dhull being the highest scorer with his impressive 66 off 85 balls.

With a modest total on the board, Nishant Sindhu, the left-arm spinner, turned the game around for India A with his remarkable five-wicket haul (5 for 20) as Bangladesh were bowled out for 160 in 34.2 overs.

Chasing a total of 212 for victory, Bangladesh colts scored at six runs an over as openers Tanzid Hasan and Mohammad Naim punished Indian bowlers.

Bangladesh were 70 in a little over 11 overs. However, they lost their way after that, with the Indian spinners applying pressure and taking regular wickets.

Sai Sudharsan struck an unbeaten 58 off 52 deliveries, hitting eight fours and one six, while Abhishek Sharma blasted a 69-ball 87, hitting 12 fours and two sixes as India A raced to 172/1 in 22.1 overs after bundling out Nepal for 167 in 39.2 overs in the 50-overs-a-side match.

Hyderabad, May 13 (Ians) Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen was fined 10% of his match fee, while Lucknow Super Giants’ Amit Mishra was reprimanded for breaching the Ipl Code of Conduct during Saturday’s match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday.

Klaasen has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee after admitting to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.7 which states the use of public criticism/inappropriate comment in the Ipl’s Code of Conduct.

Article 2.7 states, “Without limitation, Players and Team Officials will breach Article 2.7 if they publicly criticise the Match Officials or denigrate a Player or Team against which they have played in relation to incidents which occurred in a Match.”

“When assessing the seriousness of the breach, without limitation, the context within which the comments have been made and the gravity of the offending comments must be taken into account.”

Hyderabad, May 13 (Ians) The Match No.58 of Ipl 2023 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Supergiants on Saturday had to be stopped for nearly 10 minutes due to the unruly behaviour of the crowd behind the visiting team dugout at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

The stoppage in play during the 19th over of the first innings happened after Hyderabad had been controversially denied a free hit as Lucknow reviewed an on-field call by the square-leg umpire, who deemed the ball from pacer Avesh Khan to batter Abdul Samad was above waist height and called it a no-ball.

After seeing the replays, the third umpire Yeshwant Barde overturned the decision despite the ball appearing to reach the crease above Samad’s waist. The call though was marginal as Samad was slightly crouching at that time, leaving the batter as well as non-striker Heinrich Klaasen unimpressed and the square-leg umpire giving a bemused look.
