“Only Murders in the Building” is back with Season 5, debuting Sept. 9, and Hulu has released a trailer showcasing the comedy’s new mystery — and its stacked cast.

The half-hour series stars Martin Short, Steve Martin and Selena Gomez who team up as amateur investigators and true crime podcasters after a string of suspicious murders occur in their New York apartment complex.

In Season 5, the trio’s doorman Lester (Teddy Coluca) dies under mysterious circumstances, and Charles (Martin), Oliver (Short), and Mabel (Gomez) refuse to accept the results of the police report. “A guy fills a fountain with blood in the most murderous building in New York. Molly Shannon and Will Ferrell will be reuniting for a new Netflix series!

On Wednesday (August 6), it was announced that the 60-year-old Emmy-nominated actress will be starring alongside her former Saturday Night Live co-star in an upcoming golf comedy series.

In the 10-episode series, Will, 58, will be playing Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, a fictional golf legend while Molly will be playing his foul-mouthed ex-wife Stacy.

In the 10-episode series, Ferrell stars as fictional golf legend, Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins. The untitled Netflix golf comedy is Ferrell’s first-ever scripted TV series. The project has been in the works since 2024 and has undergone major creative changes. Despite those shifts, production is underway. And Shannon’s casting signals a return to the iconic comedic chemistry fans loved from their SNL years.

A Saturday Night Live reunion is coming to Netflix. Will Ferrell will reunite with one of his former co-stars in his upcoming Netflix comedy series centered around a fictional golf legend.

Netflix announced, via its Tudum website, that Molly Shannon has joined the untitled comedy series as Stacy. She will appear in all 10 episodes. Shannon and Ferrell's respective times as cast members on SNL almost perfectly sync up, with the two both joining in 1995. However, Shannon left in 2001, while Ferrell didn't depart the hit sketch comedy series until 2002. In the years since SNL, Shannon has starred in the films A Good Person, Promising Young Woman, Other People, Scary Movie 4 and Scary Movie 5, as well as the television series The White Lotus, Divorce, The Other Two, and I Love That For You. She most recently appeared in the fourth season of Hulu's Only Murders in the Building.

Molly Shannon has signed on to star opposite Will Ferrell in Netflix’s forthcoming ten-episode golf comedy, reuniting the longtime collaborators on screen for the first time in more than a decade. Molly Shannon will join her former Saturday Night Live co-star Will Ferrell in a Netflix comedy series, which is also undergoing some off-camera changes.

Ramy Youssef and Josh Rabinowitz, who were credited as co-creators and executive producers when Netflix picked up the series in May 2024, have departed the untitled show over creative differences, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter. Andy Campagna of Youssef’s Cairo Cowboy production company has also departed.

The series stars Ferrell as a fictional golf legend and will mark his first continuing role in a comedy series (as opposed to the sketch/variety world of SNL). Shannon, whose recent credits include Only Murders in the Building and The Other Two, will play a character named Stacy.

Alison Brie has been cast as the lead of FX’s Untitled Witness Protection pilot from Hannah Fidell and Gina Welch (Clipped), who joins as co-showrunner, writer and executive producer. Rom-coms are a genre that leaves fans wanting more, and Netflix has heard that loud and clear. The streaming service has been focusing on the genre in the last few months, releasing hits like La Dolce Villa, The Life List, as well as Kate Hudson's series The Running Point and Kristen Bell and Adam Brody's Nobody Wants This.

Looking at the viewership numbers alone, Netflix wants to continue to release quality rom-coms and will do that with an exciting new project: People We Meet on Vacation. The novel, which was published in 2021, comes from popular romance author Emily Henry, who has several adaptations in the works. The streamer is making a movie adaptation of People We Meet on Vacation and the release date has been revealed.

Here’s a synopsis: “Free-spirited Poppy (Emily Bader) and routine-loving Alex (Tom Blyth) have been unlikely best friends for a decade, living in different cities but spending every summer vacation together. The careful balance of their friendship is put to the test when they begin to question what has been obvious to everyone else — could they actually be the perfect romantic match?”

A release date has been announced for Netflix’s adaptation of Emily Henry’s best-selling novel, People We Meet on Vacation.

On Tuesday the streamer released a teaser of the film in which voiceovers of stars Emily Bader and Tom Blyth are overheard with a beach backdrop.

“Where does Alex Nilsen stand on travel? Love or hate?” Bader’s Poppy says.

“I mean, I’ve never really traveled anywhere. But this morning I saw this beautiful sunrise over this place that I’d never been before and I wouldn’t have if everything had gone according to plan. So love. I’m thinking love,” Blyth’s Alex says.

Kerry Washington, Jon Hamm, Anna Kendrick, and Benito Skinner were among the many celebs in attendance at the 85th Annual Peabody Awards on Sunday night (June 1) held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles.

Since 1940, the event, created by the University of Georgia’s Grady School of Journalism and Mass Communication, honors celebrate excellence in entertainment in documentary, news, podcast/radio, arts, youth and public service programming.

This year’s honorees included Netflix’s Baby Reindeer, FX’s Shōgun, and Peacock’s We Are Lady Parts while Saturday Night Live‘s Lorne Michaels was presented with the Institutional Award.

Comedian Roy Wood Jr. served as host for the evening.

“Saturday Night Live” concluded its 50th season last month as the highest-rated entertainment series on broadcast television among Adults 18-49 and was also the most watched comedy across broadcast and cable for the sixth consecutive season, according to ratings data released by Nielsen on Monday.

Factoring in Live+7 across all platforms, the late night sketch show averaged 8.1 million viewers during the 2024-2025 television season, up +12% vs. Season 49 and marked the show’s best numbers since Season 47 (2021-2022).

“To see the show honor its legacy while still pushing boundaries was incredible.
