‘The Passenger’ Review
Image
Stars: Johnny Berchtold, Kyle Gallner, Lupe Leon, Liza Weil, Billy Slaughter, Jordan Sherley, Morgana Shaw, Kanesha Washington | Written by Jack Stanley | Directed by Carter Smith

Not to be confused with the Spanish road trip horror of the same name, The Passenger, the new film from Carter Smith, opens with a woman, blood spurting from her eye socket crawling towards a young boy. It’s a nightmare and Randy is woken from it to start another tedious day at Burgers, Burgers, Burgers. He should have taken it as an omen and stayed home.

As they’re getting the diner ready to open one of the other employees starts harassing him, something that seems to be a regular occurrence. Benson watches in disgust before walking out to have a smoke. Then, as if something just snapped he pulls a shotgun from his car and goes back inside killing everyone except Randy whom he takes hostage.

Official Trailer for Violent Thriller 'The Passenger' Starring Kyle Gallner
Image
"If I'm gonna help you, then I can't have you getting in my way. Because it forces me to hurt you. I need you to work with me, not against me." Paramount and MGM+ have revealed an official trailer for an action thriller horror crossover called The Passenger, the latest from the genre filmmaker Carter Smith. Not to be confused with Jack Nicholson's 1975 film also called The Passenger. This is a Blumhouse production, produced by Jason Blum, that will be dropping on VOD directly in August. A man is forced to face his fears and confront his troubled past. He must find a way to survive when his co-worker snaps and goes on a violent killing spree, taking him along for the ride. This one stars Kyle Gallner, Johnny Berchtold, Liza Weil, with Merah Benoit and Morgana Shaw. An unsettling trailer that gets uncomfortable by the end, but that's the point of this film.

‘The Harrowing’ VOD Review
Stars: Matthew Tompkins, Arnold Vosloo, Michael Ironside, Arianne Martin, Damon Carney, Hayden Tweedie, Erin Marie Garrett, John Walpole, Morgana Shaw, Michael Crabtree, Susana Gibb, James Cable, Tom Zembrod, Brandi Price | Written and Directed by Jon Keeyes

I thought I’d try to watch a few more new horror movies by the end of 2018 – December is usually just for Christmas movies for me – but The Harrowing sounded interesting from the few things I’ve read about it so I gave it a go.

The first thing I noticed about The Harrowing is that it looks great. I honestly don’t know its budget but I can assure you this would be what most would call a ‘low budget movie’. And it proves that low budget doesn’t mean that your film should look amateur. Here the picture is the highest of quality, the sound is perfect but also, the one thing...

Salem Season 3 Episode 7 Review: The Man Who Was Thursday
Did that just happen?!

We need to take a moment to breathe and process the development.

They actually did it...

On Salem Season 3 Episode 7, the dark lord was quite literally ripped apart at the seams in one of the best moments of the series. Their biggest enemy is perhaps dead. It was amazing!

Kudos to the special effects team and writers on Salem; this was a surprising curve ball in the final four episodes. I did not expect this twist yet. Did you?

Everything featured had the makings of a great climax. The location of the woods paired with the dark and dreary vibe added to the tension. And once the vines started grabbing him and ripping him apart, it worked perfectly. The prosthetics almost looked realistic.

Dark Lord: You think a few rotten vines can hold me?

Essex Elder: Once, you were the source of Mary's power. Not anymore!

UK Trailer for The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia
Following the impressive success of the original low-budget horror movie, The Haunting in Connecticut, Lionsgate have returned to bring us the sequel, The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia, which is also loosely based on a true story.

From the producers of The Haunting In Connecticut comes the chilling true story of the Wyrick family.

Peering into Murky Woods with The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia: A Movie Review
Director: Tom Elkins. Writer: David Coggeshall. Cast: Abigail Spencer, Morgana Shaw, Emily Alyn Lind, Chad Michael Murray, Grant James, and Katee Sackhoff. The first thing people notice about The Haunting in Connecticut: Ghosts of Georgia is its unwieldy title. This title is obscenely long and it offers contradictory information. A sequel to the 2009 film A Haunting in Connecticut, this second film deals with a family moving into a new house. Obviously, spirits reside there. And, this is Tom Elkins first film as director. As well, many of the producers from the first film (Paul Brooks, Jeff Levine) return for this next entry. The crew brings together a competent production, which is dramatically driven by David Coggeshall's compelling script. There is a lot to take in with Ghosts of Georgia and horror fans will find lots to enjoy with this piece. The supposed true story begins with the Wyrick family.
