How X-Men: First Class Star Edi Gathegi Really Feels About Darwin's Controversial Death
Image
Like a lot of "X-Men" fans, "X-Men: First Class" is one of my favorite movies in the whole franchise; it's a step above "Logan" for me and a small step below "X2." But although I found "First Class" to be a thrilling (and refreshing) change of pace when it first came out, there's one scene that always bugged me: the one where the villain murders Darwin (Edi Gathegi), a mutant whose whole thing is that he can't die.

Making it stranger was the racial element: Darwin was the only Black man in the group, and he was murdered simply as a quick method for Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) to flex his powers. You might think some fans are looking too deeply into it by bringing up Darwin's race, but it's the movie that brings it up first. Shaw gives a speech to the young mutants urging them to join his...

Superman Star Edi Gathegi Explains How Role Made Up for X-Men: First Class, Says "It's a Different Level of Conversation"
Image
Superman star Edi Gathegi calls his Mister Terrific performance "a different level of conversation." He was previously in another superhero flick: X-Men: First Class.

Speaking toThe Hollywood Reporter, Gathegi recalled his experience playing Darwin in 2011's X-Men: First Class and his reaction to being killed off so early into the film. "They assured us that it was essential for the storytelling in order to motivate the mutants to avenge my [character's] death. They also fully intended to bring my character back as they do in the comics. [Darwin] can't die; he regenerates," Gathegi recalled. "When I didn’t come back for X-Men: Apocalypse, I just knew it was done."

Gathegi went on to note the vastly different experience he had working on Superman with James Gunn, explaining that "The pendulum has swung in the complete opposite direction. With X-Men: First Class, the message that I received as an actor and as a...

'He's a Little Grumpy': Superman Star Teases Tense Relationship With Man of Steel
Image
Though the 2025 Superman reboot largely chronicles the journey of the Man of Steel, the anticipated blockbuster also explores the dynamics between the caped crusader and several other heroes. One of those heroes, Mister Terrific, has a strained relationship with Superman, as star Edi Gathegi teases that his character is "grumpy" around Clark Kent's alter-ego.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Gathegi delved into the relationship between Mister Terrific and Superman, saying the two "don't have a lot in common," despite facing mutual enemies. According to the Kenyan-American actor, Mister Terrific doesn't hold Superman in very high regard.

“Superman thinks that Mister Terrific is his Bff. That’s not true. [Mister Terrific] thinks he’s a herb,” Gathegi commented. “They are brothers in fighting crime. They’re brothers in being heroes. But they don’t have a lot in common.”

"Our version of Mister Terrific is a little more complex."

Superman teasers have alluded to the...

Ex-Marvel Actor Calls Their 14-Year-Old Death Scene a 'Missed Opportunity'
Image
Though many hold X-Men: First Class in high regard as one of the superhero genre's best reboots, one star of the film doesn't have fond memories of it 14 years later. Superman actor Edi Gathegi rues how his character was handled in First Class, claiming Darwin's death scene in the 2011 blockbuster was a "missed opportunity."

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Gathegi opened up more on his feelings towards First Class after recently expressing embarrassment at how his Marvel debut went. Gathegi portrayed Anthony Munoz/Darwin, a young mutant and reactive evolution specialist, who was killed by Sebastian Shaw during First Class' third act. Many X-Men enthusiasts believe that Darwin deserved a better fate than what he received in First Class, a sentiment Gathegi has long shared.

"They're not wrong," Gathegi said. "I think it is just a case of bad representation and missed opportunity. There was a lot that they could have done with that character,...

X-Men Icons Get the Alex Ross Treatment in God-Tier Art - See It Here
Image
Alex Ross offers his iconic pen to the X-Men franchise for new art pieces. Alex Ross has contributed his distinctive art style to both Marvel and DC Comics over the course of a nearly 40-year-long career in the industry. He is perhaps most commonly remembered for DC's Kingdom Come, but some of his best art was his hyperrealistic portraits of Marvel's heroes and villains.

Now, Alex Ross returns to Marvel for a series of Timeless variant covers to be released in September featuring several X-Men icons. Among those included in the series are Cloak and Dagger, Kitty Pryde with Lockheed, Professor "X" Charles Xavier, Dazzler, Havok, Rogue, Sebastian Shaw, Sunfire, and John "Thunderbird" Proudstar. All of Ross' pieces can be viewed below.

The pieces arrive with the following press release:

14 Years Later, 1 X-Men Star Finally Agrees the Movies Massacred a Mutant Who's God-Tier In the Comics
Image
Superman star Edi Gathegi looks back on his Darwin role from Fox's X-Men: First Classand voices his disappointment at the mutant's quick and unfair death. Fourteen years before he played Mister Terrific in James Gunn's Superman, Edi Gathegi made his superhero movie debut in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class, which served as a soft reboot for Fox's X-Men movie franchise, drawing inspiration from Marvel Comics' first X-Men team, but replacing some of Professor X's first recruits with different mutants.

In an interview with EW, Edi Gathegi describes Darwin's abrupt death in X-Men: First Class as "a case of bad representation and missed opportunity."Since Darwin's mutant power is precisely an extremely high adaptability, the fact that he was killed off as soon as he met the movie's main villain seems contradictory to his abilities. Gathegi admits he hoped Darwin survived the encounter with Kevin Bacon's Sebastian Shaw,...

"Bad Representation And Missed Opportunity": Superman Star Edi Gathegi Reflects On X-men: First Class Role
Image
Hot off the success of the Twilight franchise, X-Men: First Class looked like it might be Edi Gathegi's big break. Unfortunately, his time as a member of the X-Men was cut short when Sebastian Shaw killed the mutant in short order.

There was a lot of disappointment at the time, but even fourteen years on, Darwin's demise remains one of the X-Men franchise's biggest missteps in the eyes of many fans.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Gathegi, who plays the Dcu's Mister Terrific in Superman, admitted that he agrees with fans. "They're not wrong," the actor acknowledged. "I think it is just a case of bad representation and missed opportunity. There was a lot that they could have done with that character, probably should have done with the character."

"I was waiting to be brought back [after First Class] because, as you know, the character doesn't die. The fact that he died...

'Superman' Star Edi Gathegi Doesn't Want To Talk About 'X-Men: First Class' Role
Image
The newly branded DC Studios technically began last year with the Max original animated series, Creature Commandos. However, James Gunn's Superman will have a significant impact on future film and television projects moving forward. Gunn's take on the Man of Steel has plenty of people excited, not just about this new iteration of the character, but also because of the large number of DC heroes and villains who will be featured in the film as well. One such character is Mister Terrific, played by Edi Gathegi. The actor has played a Marvel character in the past, although he doesn't like discussing it too much.

While talking on the DC Studios Showcase Official Podcast to promote Superman, Gathegi was asked about whether he feels that Mister Terrific is his first real chance to play a superhero. The question was clearly intended to lead to a discussion about the actor's...

'We Don't Talk About That': Superman Star Dodges Questions About His Involvement in a 14-Year-Old Marvel Reboot
Image
The DC Universe's upcoming Superman reboot features several noteworthy heroes alongside the Man of Steel, including Edi Gathegi's Mister Terrific. While excited about his DC debut as Michael Holt, Gathegi hopes the reboot helps him earn "redemption" following his not so terrific superhero movie debut in X-Men: First Class.

Speaking on the DC Studios Showcase Official Podcast, Gathegi opened up about his time on Marvel's First Class, where the Kenyan actor portrays the infamous evolution-loving mutant, Armando Muñoz/Darwin. Gathegi's turn in First Class was largely forgettable, given that his character, who worked as a taxi driver before Charles Xavier recruited him to combat the Hellfire Club, didn't get much screen time and was killed off by Sebastian Shaw. Gathegi insists that the less said about his First Class appearances, the better. “We don’t talk about that,” he said. “It’s too juicy."

Spider-man: Brand New Day - 5 Comic Books That Could Inspire The Hulk's MCU Team-Up (Fight?) With Spidey
Image
Over Memorial Day weekend, the news broke that Mark Ruffalo will reportedly reprise his role as Bruce Banner/Hulk in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The wall-crawler's MCU movies always pair Spidey up with an Avenger, and this is an incredible pick.

For starters, they've never crossed paths on screen before, despite having a pretty amazing history on the page. The character lends himself well to a story where Spider-Man explores his duality

We still have no real idea what this movie will look like, but it's safe to assume these two will fight and team up. Peter Parker has never been overly close with Bruce, but chances are the doctor will become his latest big screen mentor. Beyond that, how else might he factor into what we see next summer?

By clicking the "Next"/"View List" buttons below, you can learn more about the comic books we think will be...

The Only Marvel Character To Show Up In Every Captain America Movie
Image
There are few stranger types of movies than a Marvel Cinematic Universe film sequel. Most MCU sequels feel less like their own movie and more like an episode of a TV show that's decided to focus on a specific character for the week. You know how a typical episode of "Lost" would spotlight one cast member while the larger plot continued to progress around them? By the time we got to the mid-2010s, that's how most non-"Avengers" MCU movies felt.

The "Captain America" movies are perhaps the biggest example of this. "The First Avenger" ended with Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) waking up 70 years after World War II; a typical second movie in the series would've followed up on the cliffhanger, making Steve's struggles to adapt to the modern world a major focus. But because "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" happens after "The Avengers," Steve has already gone through...

Darth Vader is arguably one of the most memorable characters created by George Lucas for his epic space opera franchise Star Wars. While the character was introduced as a villain, the second installment, The Empire Strikes Back revealed an important twist about Vader that remains one of the biggest reveals in Lucas’ grand plan for the original trilogy.

Pedro Pascal and Fantastic Four Exist in the Same Timeline as the Single Greatest X-Men Movie in Fox History – Theory
Image
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is going to be set in an alternate version of the 199999 universe, where the 1960s were dominated by the existence of The Fantastic Four. There was another film that looked into an alternate sixties, featuring Marvel heroes: X-Men: First Class.

X-Men: First Class || Credit: 20th Century Fox

One of the many reasons that the Fantastic Four will be introduced in a universe of their own is that the MCU already has a pretty muddled history, and the introduction of Marvel’s First Family is only going to make it more complicated. A similar approach can be taken with the X-Men, but instead of having the merry mutants appear in yet another Universe, Marvel should bring back the old First Class cast, and have them share a universe with The Fantastic Four.

The Fantastic Four and the X-Men existing in the same universe could assist...

10 Things We Hope The MCU Does Better Than Fox's X-Men Movie Franchise
Image
Marvel Studios has the opportunity to fix some of the biggest mistakes in 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise now mutants are coming to the MCU. Fox's X-Men franchise kicked off with 2000's eponymous X-Men and spanned two decades, coming to an end with 2020's disappointing The New Mutants. Over 13 feature films, Fox weaved confusing continuities packed full of lackluster interpretations of Marvel Comics characters and storylines, but there is now hope that Marvel Studios will take mutants and the X-Men and treat them with much more care.

Whether it be wasting important X-Men characters from Marvel Comics, diluting and altering pivotal backstories, butchering iconic and formidable X-Men villains or failing to explore some of the X-Men's weirder stories, 20th Century Fox made many mistakes in the X-Men franchise. Of course, it wasn't all bad, as movies including X-Men: Days of Future Past, Deadpool and Logan saw huge success. Following...

I'm Desperate For The MCU To Redeem The 1 X-Men Villain Story That's Been Wasted For 28 Years On-Screen
Image
One iconic Marvel Comics villain has been wasted on-screen for almost three decades, so I would love to see Marvel Studios' upcoming X-Men reboot finally do him justice in the MCU. 20th Century Fox made many mistakes with its X-Men franchise, which included misusing some of my favorite mutant characters, not introducing many others, and butchering some of Marvel Comics' best mutant-centric storylines. I have a huge amount of hope for the future of the X-Men, however, as I have faith that Marvel Studios will handle the McU's mutants with much more care.

While I imagine this will directly help the most central members of the X-Men team, including the likes of Professor X, Cyclops, Storm and Rogue, I'm also hopeful this will benefit the X-Men's most iconic villains. Fox wasted the likes of Apocalypse, Mister Sinister and Sebastian Shaw's Hellfire Club, but I reckon these villains, and many more,...

Don't Panic... X-Men Finally Admits One of Its Costumes Makes No Sense
Image
Warning: contains spoilers for Sentinels #2Marvel's X-Men are known for their iconic fashion choices and fierce heroic costumes, but one monstrous mutant is finally called out in Sentinels #2 for having the worst fashion at Marvel... the despicable Sebastian Shaw. Former leader of the Hellfire Club's Inner Circle, Sebastian is stuck living out an aristocratic fantasy that has failed him time and time again, all while looking like a total fool in a waistcoat and frilly cravat.

Sebastian Shaw, a mutant with kinetic absorption abilities, was introduced in 1979's X-Men #129 as the charismatic and pretentious Black King of the Hellfire Club, a villainous role he held for many years and lorded over former Hellfire member Emma Frost.

10 Sci-Fi Movies Where the Main Character Is a Villain
Image
Science fiction has long delivered audiences a long list of interesting stories that cover social topics and an array of characters, from adventurous sci-fi like John Carter to tales of alien life, like Contact. While most of these stories focus on heroic explorers, noble scientists and courageous soldiers, some movies shift the focus to villains. Although some of these movies will follow a bad guy slowly heading down the path of redemption, others explore moral ambiguity, showing how one person's hero can be another's villain.

Sci-fi has always allowed creators to explore a range of challenging themes, messages and varying perspectives on morality. Some of cinema's best morality plays have been told through the genre, whether that's adventures in the far reaches of space or more grounded tales set in present-day Earth. Centering villains of varying moral perspectives allows some of the most diverse stories to play out, showcasing the...

As X-Men reinvents its killer Sentinels for a new era, the genocidal robots are getting a major redesign with a dark secret - they're built around living beings. X-Men's new 'From the Ashes' era is setting up a fresh status quo for Marvel's mutants, with former bonds shattered and new teams forming after the death of Professor Xavier's dream.

For months, Uncanny X-Men has been teasing the debut of deadly new Sentinels. These canine robots, codenamed Bloodhounds, are under the control of Dr. Ellis - a mysterious new anti-mutant villain who has acquired the former Xavier school, turning it into a prison for mutant criminals. However, deep within the facility, work has officially begun on the Bloodhounds.

In Alex Paknadel, Justin Mason, Federico Blee, and Travis Lanham's Sentinels #2, Ellis works on her own Sentinel program following the discovery of anti-mutant tech in the possession of the villainous Sebastian Shaw.

One of the X-Men's Most Important Mutants Probably Won't Make it to the MCU
Image
With "Fall of X" in full swing and the recently revived X-Men '97, the beloved heroes are again the talk of mutant lovers worldwide. Adding to the hype was the inclusion of Professor X and founding member Beast in recent MCU films and the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie, which officially took place in the cinematic universe. These X-factors make the mutant heroes' live-action onscreen appearance all but certain, and fans old and new couldn't be more excited.

There is, however, one beloved mutant hero who will likely not make the jump to the big screen alongside her teammates, which is a real shame considering not only her appeal to fans but also her formerly being left out of another popular X-Men project. Deadpool & Wolverine Offered Azazel Role to X-Men: First Class Actor
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine featured a mishmash of exciting Marvel cameos, but it could not convince an X-Men: First Class actor to reprise his villain role in the MCU sequel. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman lead a multiverse extravaganza, including the return of fan-favorite characters like Blade, played by Wesley Snipes, and the on-screen debut of Channing Tatum as Gambit. However, some original actors did not make the cut. Jason Flemyng, who portrayed Azazel in X-Men: First Class, rejected Marvel Studios' offer to return in Deadpool & Wolverine.

During an interview with Comicbookmovie.com for his next film The Stoic, Flemyng revealed that, like many other actors from the former Marvel-Fox universe, he received an offer to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine. His role in First Class as Azazel was as the secondary villain to Kevin Bacon's Sebastian Shaw. In the comics, he was the father of Nightcrawler, even though that wasn't addressed in the film franchise.

George Lucas, Why Didn’t You Tell us Darth Vader Was Played by 5 Actors

The character quickly became iconic and remains part of the pop culture zeitgeist even today.

9 Key Moments In Grand Admiral Thrawn's Canon Story (& How They Could Impact His Star Wars Future)
Image
Several key moments in the Star Wars canon are crucial to Grand Admiral Thrawn's story (and will likely impact his future). Returning to the established Star Wars canon in 2016 with the animated series Star Wars Rebels, Thrawn made his live-action debut in 2023's Ahsoka. He's also been positioned to become a major threat in the future with upcoming Star Wars projects set in the New Republic timeline.

Originating from the Unknown Regions of the Star Wars galaxy, Thrawn originally served the Chiss Ascendancy before he eventually became a Grand Admiral in the Galactic Empire, a rare alien officer in the entire xenophobic regime who had gained Palpatine's favor due to his impressive mind as a tactician and his knowledge of the Unknown Regions themselves. During the New Republic Era, Thrawn certainly looks ready to unite the various factions of the Imperial Remnant in a bid to take back the galaxy.

Marvel's X-Men Reboot Is Using the Franchise's Mutant-Hunting Sentinels In A Totally Unique Way

While the X-Men have battled human prejudice, alien threats, and each other, one enemy has always struck fear into the hearts of even Omega-level mutants: the Sentinels. During the recent conclusion of the Krakoan era, evolved Sentinels almost wiped out all life on Earth, mutants and humans alike. Now the Sentinel program has been restarted, and one of their first assignments is...to rescue a mutant.

Marvel released a preview for its new Sentinels series in June, a "From the Ashes" story centered on four new characters who voluntarily sign up for Lawrence Trask's rebooted project. Like his father, the creator of the original Sentinels, Trask is using them for nefarious purposes, in this case, to round up mutants for Graymalkin Prison. This Incredible Star Wars Art Is The Perfect Tribute To James Earl Jones' Darth Vader

This Star Wars art is a beautiful reminder of the complex character brought to life by the late James Earl Jones. Darth Vader was initially introduced to Star Wars as a hardened villain, and he quickly went on to become one of cinemas most fear-inducing characters of all. Vader seemed to be the embodiment of evil, appearing more machine than man. It isn't until The Empire Strikes Back that his humanity is shown in more ways than one, revealing both his human body healing in his bacta tank and his familial relationship with Luke Skywalker.

Image
The death of James Earl Jones touched many people around the world, and that included a lot of Star Wars fans who mourned the loss of the man who lent his voice to the character that has defined the saga across decades, Darth Vader. For that reason, it is not surprising that someone has come up with a beautiful piece of artwork in tribute to not only Jones, but to many of the other Star Wars icons that have been lost through the years.

Jones passed away on September 9 at the age of 93, having spent almost 70 years entertaining and enthralling audiences with his presence on stage and screen. However, as the voice of Darth Vader, Jones found himself becoming a pop culture phenomenon overnight.

Beautiful Star Wars Art Is A Perfect Tribute To James Earl Jones & Those Who've Gone Before
Image
A new piece of Star Wars art pays tribute to the late James Earl Jones and some of the franchise's other legends. James Earl Jones died on September 9 at the age of 93. Jones is perhaps best known for providing the voice of Darth Vader in the original trilogy of Star Wars movies, and for several other stories later in the franchise's history. The mark both James Earl Jones and Darth Vader have left on the Star Wars timeline can't be quantified, and his death is a true tragedy. Jones' passing has also inspired several Star Wars fans to memorialize him, sometimes through art.

Now, digital artist guiille__ has created a piece of art that imagines Jones with several other Star Wars icons who have passed away.

James Earl Jones Was So Much More Than His Golden Voice
Image
With James Earl Jones, there was always the voice. It rumbled. It poured over you, thick as molasses. It sounded regal, even when he was playing a humble ex-ballplayer instead of a king. It was always unmistakably his — he wasn’t even credited as the voice of Darth Vader in the first two Star Wars films, but everyone of course knew — yet remarkably versatile within what could have been a limited basso profundo range. He could be the epitome of evil as Vader, a clear figure of goodness and reason...

19 Years Later, George Lucas' Best Sith Retcon Made A Classic Empire Strikes Back Scene Even Better
Image
One of the greatest retcons George Lucas ever made to the Sith and Star Wars made a crucial scene in The Empire Strikes Back even better. The Empire Strikes Back is widely considered one of the best Star Wars movies ever made, and one of the best sequels in movie history. The Empire Strikes Back is certainly worthy of those distinctions, as it expanded the Star Wars galaxy and introduced some fascinating dark elements that are now core parts of the franchise. Even with how beloved the film is, though, one of George Lucas' retcons made it even better.

George Lucas made several changes to the original trilogy and Star Wars in general over the years. From the special editions, which added new scenes and replaced old ones, to the prequel trilogy, which redefined Anakin Skywalker's past, the original trilogy is almost completely different today. Many of Lucas' changes weren't seen as positives,...

I Can't Believe It... Ahsoka Tano Has A Higher Kill Count Than Darth Vader
Image
Ahsoka Tano is undeniably a skilled warrior, but it might come as a surprise to find out that she has a higher number of kills in Star Wars than even her master, the future Darth Vader. During the Clone Wars, Anakin and Ahsoka both saw an incredible amount of action despite their youth. They both fought alongside the 501st legion of clone troopers, but they each had many missions that pitted them against assorted villains outside a battle scenario.

After the conclusion of the Clone Wars and the fall of the Jedi, Anakin joined Emperor Palpatine as the terrifying Darth Vader. As Vader, Anakins rage and combat skills transformed him into one of the galaxys most effective killing machines. Still, according to Fandom.com, his former Padawan has made even more kills - despite her role as one of the good guys. After Order 66, Ahsoka remained no stranger to battle,...

How Tall Is Darth Vader?
Image
Darth Vader is no doubt one of the most intimidating characters in all of Star Wars, but how much does he really tower over his adversaries? Darth Vader is one of Star Wars' most powerful Sith, and he truly does inspire fear in those who oppose him. In fact, this is true even outside of Star Wars movies and TV shows.

Hilariously, Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Ewan McGregor admitted that when he first saw Darth Vader in his suit in real life while shooting Obi-Wan Kenobi, he was genuinely afraid. Clearly, Darth Vader is domineering both in-universe and in real life. Given that, it begs the question: what is Darth Vader's actual height?

10 Star Wars: The Phantom Menace Movie Quotes That Aged Poorly
Image
The Phantom Menace has become more beloved over the years, but some quotes have still aged very poorly. Lines from Anakin Skywalker and Jar Jar Binks are simply out of place or poorly written, making light of serious moments. Some quotes are downright offensive, as they have made use of harmful stereotypes, and have thankfully been corrected in other Star Wars media.

The Star Wars prequel trilogy is known for its more cringe-worthy moments, many of which come in the form of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and its dialogue. Because the movie is now 25 years old and only growing older, some of the dialogue has not aged as well as the rest. In fact, some of it was considered bad or even controversial at the time the movie came out.

George Lucas himself has admitted he finds dialogue to be hard work. This caused a lot...

Star Wars: The 10 Worst Mistakes The Jedi Have Ever Made
Image
The Jedi were too focused on the Chosen One prophecy, leading to their downfall. Anakin's acceptance into the Jedi Order was a major mistake with disastrous consequences. Working closely with Palpatine was the Jedi's biggest mistake.

The Jedi are undeniably the heroes of Star Wars, but that doesn't mean they are without their flaws; here are the 10 worst mistakes the Jedi have made in Star Wars movies and TV shows. Throughout the Star Wars timeline, the Jedi have struggled. However, the prequel trilogy saw the most issues with the Jedi, which makes sense given this era ends with the fall of the Jedi Order.

The prequel trilogy not only comprises some of Star Wars' best movies but also was absolutely pivotal to the franchise. Key events, including Order 66, the fall of the Republic, and the beginning of the Empire, all took place during this era. Sadly, though, many of...

Crisis On Infinite Earths: The Mark Hamill Joker Voice Controversy, Explained
Image
In the build-up to the release of "Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths — Part Three," the most intriguing detail was learning "Crisis" would feature the late Kevin Conroy voicing Batman one last time, having recorded his lines before his passing in 2022. Sweetening the news, it was subsequently announced that Conroy would be acting against Mark Hamill as Joker, if only for a moment. Their shared cameo recreates the animation style of "Batman: The Animated Series" (down to Gotham City's red sky), the 1992 cartoon where Conroy and Hamill first played Batman and the Joker.

But when I went to watch the scene, feeling I owed Mr. Conroy a peek at his Batman final curtain, my eyebrow shot up. The Joker in the scene did not sound like Mark Hamill. The cadence was there, but not the vocal quality. But the film's credits insisted it was Hamill, so I shrugged and...

One Phantom Menace Line Revealed How Luke Skywalker Could Rebuild The Jedi Order
Image
Luke Skywalker established a Jedi Temple between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. The prequel trilogy Jedi Order only sought Force-sensitive children born within the Republic, missing potential Jedi. Luke likely searched far and wide for Force-sensitive children, expanding beyond the limitations of the prequel Jedi Order.

One line from Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace reveals how Luke Skywalker was able to rebuild a Jedi Order prior to the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Although it was never fully depicted in Star Wars movies and TV shows, Luke Skywalker did successfully begin a Jedi Temple between Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. While Kylo Ren ultimately brought an end to that, it was nevertheless an impressive feat for Luke to single-handedly restore the Jedi at this point in the Star Wars timeline.

Star Wars may have already revealed how Luke accomplished this,...

Star Wars Has Completely Ignored One Dark Order 66 Legacy
Image
Anakin's lightsaber, a legendary weapon, has a dark history. The saber's horrible past remains ignored in Star Wars. The franchise will likely continue to overlook the saber's role in Order 66.

Star Wars has explored Order 66 and its effects in several Star Wars movies and TV shows since it was introduced in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, but this one dark Order 66 legacy has gone largely ignored. Order 66 was a defining moment in the Star Wars timeline. Not only was it the demise of nearly every Jedi at the time, but it also sealed Anakin's identity as Darth Vader; he truly was fully committed to the dark side at that point.

Since Revenge of the Sith, shows like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and Star Wars Rebels have highlighted what this tragedy was like from various perspectives, including that of the clones.

We've Totally Missed Palpatine's Biggest Revenge Of The Sith Gamble
Image
Revenge of the Sith is pivotal to the larger Star Wars timeline. The clones don't attack Anakin Skywalker during Order 66, suggesting they were programmed not to. Palpatine risked his entire plan by assuming Anakin would turn to the dark side.

Palpatine took one shocking risk in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith that is easy to miss but could have changed everything. Revenge of the Sith is one of Star Wars' most important movies for several reasons. For one, this point in the Star Wars timeline is absolutely critical. Not only does Order 66 occur in Revenge of the Sith, killing most of the Jedi, but also, Palpatine takes power and transforms the Galactic Republic into the Empire. Many Star Wars movies and TV shows are therefore directly shaped by the events of Revenge of the Sith.

These events also took meticulous planning on Palpatine's part, beginning long...

10 Things That Make No Sense About Anakin Skywalker
Image
Anakin showed unconventional Force abilities in The Phantom Menace. Anakin was very transparent about his feelings for Padm. Anakin never advocated for the Jedi helping to free his mother.

Anakin Skywalker may be one of Star Wars' most popular and most important characters, but these 10 things about him still don't make any sense. Anakin's story has been essential throughout Star Wars movies and TV shows. In fact, although the Skywalker Saga has concluded, the Star Wars timeline continues to be shaped by both Anakin and the Skywalker family tree more broadly.

Yet, not everything about Anakin's story makes sense. Indeed, despite being one of Star Wars' best characters, there are a number of moments in Anakin's Star Wars story that are quite confusing. Of all the odd moments, these 10 make the least sense of all.

Why Darth Vader Never Took Command Of The Empire's Military
Image
Vader and Palpatine worked outside the Empire's military to focus on Sith domination. Vader's personal agenda hindered his tactical prowess in leading the Imperial forces. Dark side Force-wielders like Vader aren't meant to lead but to use and abuse the military.

Given Darth Vaders considerable intelligence, experience, and strength, it seems strange that he never took control of the Empires military but theres a good reason for this separation of power in Star Wars. Though, during the original Star Wars trilogy, few knew of Darth Vaders true identity, Palpatine would have been aware of Anakin Skywalkers famed exploits as a General for the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. As a Jedi, Anakin led the clones into countless battles, emerging victorious due to his strength in the Force, his ingenious tactical skills, and his out-of-the-box strategies.

And yet, oddly enough, Palpatine's Sith apprentice never had a true...

Star Wars: 10 Things That Make No Sense About The Prequels

The Jedi believed the Sith were extinct but cared about the Chosen One prophecy. The Jedi changed their minds about Anakin after Qui-Gon's death without real reason. Yoda felt Anakin's pain but never followed up on it.

The Star Wars prequel trilogy brought many incredible characters, concepts, and stories to the Star Wars timeline, but these 10 things about the trilogy make no sense. The prequels have come a long way from the initial response many viewers had. Despite a rocky start, the prequels are now considered some of Star Wars' best movies.

However, the prequels remain far from perfect. Some initial complaints, despite being forgiven in large part due to nostalgia, remain true, including the at times odd dialogue and some of the confusing plot points and character decisions. Of all the parts of the Star Wars prequel trilogy that are confusing, though, these 10 make the least sense.

Did Obi-Wan Know About Anakin & Padm's Relationship & Did He Try To Stop It
Image
Anakin and Padm's love forever altered the Jedi Order and the Republic, showing Obi-Wan made a grave error in not stopping it. Obi-Wan knew about and sympathized with Anakin and Padm's relationship due to his own romantic past with Satine Kryze. Although he hesitated out of compassion, Obi-Wan's failure to intervene was a major mistake that changed the galaxy.

Anakin Skywalker and Padm Amidala's relationship clearly had massive implications for the whole galaxy, and Star Wars has dropped several hints over the years about whether Obi-Wan Kenobi knew about their love affair and if he tried to stop it. There have been a number of romantic relationships in Star Wars movies and TV shows, but arguably none has had a greater impact than Anakin and Padm's. In addition to creating one of Star Wars' most powerful Jedi, Anakin and Padm's relationship changed the fate of the entire Jedi Order and the Republic.

Star Wars Has Done More With Anakin In The Past 3 Years Than In Three Whole Movies
Image
Anakin Skywalker's development in the prequels revealed a complex character, yet the sequels barely touch upon his legacy, missing a huge opportunity. The sequels wasted Anakin's story, with Kylo Ren misunderstanding Darth Vader's true character. Recent Star Wars content, like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka, has successfully fleshed out Anakin's character, demonstrating the missed potential in the sequels.

Star Wars movies and TV shows have done so much more with Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader since the Star Wars sequel trilogy, revealing one of the franchise's greatest missed opportunities. Anakin is undeniably one of Star Wars' most powerful Jedi and one of the franchise's most compelling characters. While he may have been introduced in the original trilogy as the terrifying, faceless villain Darth Vader, the prequel trilogy went on to reveal that there was so much more to Anakin.

In fact, while reception may have initially been quite different,...

Star Wars Gives The Biggest Clue To Anakin's Origin In 5 Years
Image
The Acolyte reveals Darth Plagueis' connection to Osha, possibly tying his power to Anakin's mysterious origins. Anakin's miraculous conception may finally be explained through the Sith's quest for power in The Acolyte. The show sets up a thrilling possibility of Anakin's creation as a result of a Sith "arms race" for life-creating power.

Star Wars may have just taken its biggest step toward revealing the true origins of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the last 5 years based on one blink-and-you-miss-it cameo in The Acolyte. Anakin is easily one of the most compelling and beloved characters in Star Wars movies and TV shows. While he may have been introduced as one of Star Wars' most powerful Sith in the original trilogy, the prequels fleshed out his time before he joined the dark side, revealing that he was so much more.

However, the true explanation for Anakin's mysterious conception has remained elusive in the franchise.

The Acolyte Episode 7 Had One Major Flaw I Can't Get Over
Image
The Acolyte episode 7 revealed the truth about Brendok's past, showing the Jedi's terrible mistakes. Torbin's motivations felt weak and unconvincing. Resembling Anakin Skywalker wasn't enough to justify Torbin's impulsive behavior in the plot.

The Acolyte episode 7 fleshed out many of the Star Wars show's mysteries, but it also had one glaring flaw that impacted the whole plot. In addition to revealing what really happened on Brendok, thereby absolving Mae of the accusation that she killed the witches of Brendok, The Acolyte episode 7 confirmed, sadly, that the Jedi committed a terrible crime. Sol, in particular, was at fault for much of what transpired, especially as he was the one to kill Mother Aniseya (in front of Mae).

However, all four Jedi stationed on Brendok at the timeIndara, Kelnacca, Torbin, and Solwere culpable in some way. After all, it was Master Indara who truly wiped out the coven, even if she was...

Star Wars Hints At The Real Reason Palpatine Wanted Anakin Skywalker As His Ultimate Apprentice
Image
Palpatine sought Anakin as his Sith apprentice due to the Sith'ari prophecy, which foretold a powerful being to raise the Sith from the dead. The Sith'ari prophecy, previously in the Expanded Universe, is now part of the Star Wars canon. Palpatine's failed attempt to create a Force dyad with Darth Vader aligns with the Sith'ari prophecy.

Star Wars may have just revealed why Palpatine wanted Anakin Skywalker as his Sith apprentice, and it wasn't because of his high midi-chlorian count. Anakin was undoubtedly one of Star Wars' most powerful Jedi, and, impressively, he also ended up becoming one of Star Wars' most powerful Sith as Darth Vader. However, Palpatine's interest in Anakin may have been about more than just Anakin's raw power.

In fact, Palpatine seeking Anakin as a potential apprentice may have mirrored the reason the Jedi were willing to bend their own rules and accept him into the...
