“All I thought about was Elvis…”: Austin Butler’s Brutal Confession on How He Prepared for ‘Masters of the Air’ Makes Me Want to Watch It Again
Image
Created by John Shiban and John Orloff, Apple TV+’s war drama miniseries Masters of the Air, starring Austin Butler, Callum Turner, and Anthony Boyle, received positive to mixed reviews from critics and audiences upon release. Based on Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name, the story follows the actions of the 100th Bomb Group during WWII.

Critics at the time shared that Masters of the Air is ‘an absolutely fantastic television’ that goes on to depict the experience of pilots during World War II. Even though it received a positive to mixed response, audiences were concerned about the accuracy of the story and noted that the story had omitted a lot of parts from the actual story of the 100th. However, it’s Austin Butler’s experience that can change anyone’s mind about whether to re-watch the show or not.

Dean Norris had a reason for stepping into Law & Order: Organized Crime, and no, it wasn’t just for the badge. The Breaking Bad alum, best known as Hank Schrader, brought his signature tough-guy presence to the franchise, but there was a hidden connection fans didn’t see coming.

The Worst X-Files Episode, According To IMDb
Image
"The X-Files" was a series that had what is perhaps the platonic ideal of a structure for a scripted TV show. By alternating episodes involving a "Monster-of-the-week" and shows dealing with the series' overarching mythology of conspiracies and extraterrestrial activity, the series managed to be both an Ez-on, Ez-off episodic procedural, a genre anthology show, and a serialized saga that rewarded constant viewing. Thus, longtime fans could feel their investment paying off while new fans could jump on board at just about any point during the show's original 9-season run.

The only detriment to this near-perfect setup is the fact that it invited the possibility of as many low points as it did high ones. While certain sections of the fandom have their general preferences for which overall seasons were best and which weren't, even the most adoring fan of "The X-Files" will admit its propensity to be uneven, with...

The 'Better Call Saul' Episode of Breaking Bad
Image
Saul Goodman is perhaps one of (if not the most) compelling characters in the world of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. The idea of a prequel series to one of the most critically acclaimed and iconic television shows of all time sounds like a horrible concept on paper. Still, in practice, co-creator Peter Gould's spin-off series Better Call Saul ended up being just as impressively written and acted as the legendary show that preceded it. However, if one television executive had his way, Saul Goodman might have never come into existence.

Entertainment Weekly received an exclusive excerpt from Saul Goodman v. Jimmy McGill, a new book written by TV critic Alan Sepinwall, that offers a comprehensive deep dive into the making of this hit prequel series. In a section of the book, it's revealed that Gould was reluctant when first writing the character's debut in Breaking Bad, and...

"When You Hear, Please Let Me Know": Fans and Cast Are Still Waiting for 'Law & Order: Organized Crime' Season 5 Premiere News
Image
Things are still in the dark for fans of one of the newest additions to the Law & Order franchise. Law & Order: Organized Crime's Season 5 has still yet to have a premiere date announced. It was announced last year that the show would move to airing exclusively on Peacock, rather than airing on NBC's network and next day stream to Peacock like the other Law & Order shows. The move has seemingly left the show in a liminal space, with no premiere date to be seen for the fall or midseason premiere dates for NBC or Peacock. The show also lost its fifth showrunner, with John Shiban departing back in November.

Everything To Know About Law And Order-Organized Crime Season Five
Image
Law and Order Organized Crime spoilers reveal everything you need to know about the crime series for Season Five. It has yet to premiere on Peacock, having been announced it was going to streaming only a few months back-here’s everything that we know.

The Other Law and Order Shows Are Now On Hiatus

Law & Order and its spinoff Law & Order: Svu have already kicked off their fall seasons and are now on a winter break. But fans are still eagerly awaiting the arrival of Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5.

Back in May, it was revealed that this Christopher Meloni-led series would make the switch from NBC to NBCUniversal’s streaming service, Peacock, after four successful seasons.

Although this upcoming season will consist of just 10 episodes rather than the typical 22, viewers can expect longer episodes that will exceed the usual 42-minute runtime.

10 Things Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5 Needs To Do To Fix Christopher Meloni's Spinoff
Image
Law & Order: Organized Crime season 5 must accomplish several changes to fix serious problems that are making the series more difficult to enjoy. The Christopher Meloni-led spinoff of Law & Order: Svu originally focused on Meloni's Elliot Stabler returning to New York and joining the Organized Crime Bureau so he could solve the murder of his wife. Since then, there have been frequent Law & Order: Organized Crime showrunner changes, leading to the series repeatedly reinventing itself.

Although Stabler is a big draw, Organized Crime has long struggled to achieve the large, passionate audience that the other shows in the franchise enjoy. Organized Crime season 5 will air on Peacock, which is meant to solve that problem. However, it is difficult to tell whether the move to Peacock will work, given continued production shake-ups and the lack of a confirmed release date halfway through the 2024-25 television season. Truly,...

What Does Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5 Shake-Up Mean For Christopher Meloni's Struggling Show?
Image
Law & Order: Organized Crime premiered in April 2021 with the highly anticipated return of Christopher Meloni’s Detective Elliot Stabler, but a big change before season 5 puts the future of the show in question. The former partner of Olivia Benson during the first twelve seasons of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit returned to New York to investigate the murder of his wife as he joined the Organized Crime task force. The series also explores Stabler’s relationship with his family, including his mother and children.

Organized Crime sets itself apart from other Law & Order shows, including the original and Svu, by focusing more on Stabler’s personal life. The multi-episode cases also give the series the cinematic feel of an action crime drama epic. Law & Order: Organized Crime will return for season 5, but this time on Peacock due to low ratings on NBC last season but stronger viewership on streaming.

Christopher Meloni Rescues Olivia Thirlby for Dramatic 'Law & Order: Organized Crime' Scene - New Set Photos!
Image
Christopher Meloni and new guest star Olivia Thirlby filmed a very intense Law & Order: Organized Crime scene!

While on location in Queens, New York on Wednesday (November 27), the 63-year-old actor was seen freeing the 38-year-old actress from some sort of explosive-looking chair device with hooded NYPD figures surrounding her as well. Olivia joined the series as a recurring guest star this season.

It’s been a busy news week for the Law and Order spinoff series, as we just learned that showrunner John Shiban has exited the series and original showrunner Matt Olmstead stepped in to help with the final few episodes of the season.

A premiere date for season five has not yet been announced, but we know it will consist of 10 episodes, and will debut on Peacock instead of NBC. John was the sixth showrunner to leave Organized Crime. He was appointed as showrunner ahead of season four.

Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5 - Confirmation, Cast, Peacock Move & Everything We Know
Image
The ambitious spinoff Law & Order: Organized Crime has changed the face of the TV franchise across its first four seasons, and season 5 is on the way with one major change. Premiering in 2021, the series follows Detective Elliot Stabler as he joins the elite Organized Crime division of the NYPD to bring down international criminals who operate in the city. Unlike previous series in the franchise, Organized Crime utilizes a serialized story structure that follows an arc across an entire season and more. On top of that, the series also puts the focus exclusively on Detective Stabler and explores his internal struggles.

Like every Dick Wolf TV show produced for NBC, Organized Crime proved to be an instant hit and added some much-needed narrative diversity to the franchise that had been carried by Special Victims Unit for the better part of a decade. Not long after the debut of Organized Crime,...

‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Faces Production Challenges Amid Showrunner Exodus
Christopher Meloni in Law & Order: Organized Crime (2021)
The popular drama “Law & Order: Organized Crime” enters its fifth season, navigating another key leadership shift and preparing for a major network changeover.

The series, featuring Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler, is filming its ten-episode season. John Shiban has stepped down as showrunner, marking the show’s sixth leadership change since its premiere in 2021. The original showrunner, Matt Olmstead, has stepped in to provide stability during this shift.

The series’ relocation from NBC to Peacock is the most noticeable shift, which may provide fresh storytelling chances. Despite these limitations, the show stays devoted to its character-driven narrative approach.

Fans can expect Christopher Meloni to reprise his role as Stabler. At the same time, actress Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio will delve into the detective’s history. Most scripts for the season have already been completed, and production has begun following a brief hiatus.

Industry analysts note that the frequent showrunner...

Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5 Gets Production Update As Latest Showrunner Exits
Image
Law & Order: Organized Crime season 5 continues to progress despite the exit of its most recent showrunner. The Law & Order: Svu spinoff, starring Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler, follows the veteran cop's return to the NYPD as part of the Organized Crime Task Force. The series is known for its darker, serialized storytelling, distinguishing itself from the broader Law & Order franchise. While the show has undergone several showrunner changes since its 2021 debut, Law & Order: Organized Crime season 5 is being developed for Peacock, marking a transition from its previous home on NBC.

According to Deadline, production on Law & Order: Organized Crime's fifth season is halfway complete, though the series currently lacks a showrunner. Recent seasons have been led by a string of showrunners such as Barry OBrien and Sean Jablonski, with David Graziano overseeing various episodes. Most recently, Ozark veteran John Shiban guided the show through its fourth season.

John Shiban, who had been tapped to helm the fourth season of the NBC spin-off series after the WGA strike, is now the fifth showrunner to depart the series since it began development. Currently, nobody has been named to take his place when Season 5 picks up on Peacock, though the series will welcome back original helmer Matt Olmstead as an executive producer to help with the remaining scripts. John Shiban Latest Showrunner To Depart ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’; Matt Olmstead Rejoins As EP
Image
In a Law & Order: Organized Crime shake-up, John Shiban has become the fifth showrunner to leave the series over the past four years. According to sources, his exit happened earlier this month, leading to a production pause. The Wolf Entertainment/Universal TV drama, which is moving to Peacock for its upcoming fifth season, is now back filming, with its original showrunner, Matt Olmstead, stepping in as executive producer. He remains executive producer/showrunner on another Wolf Entertainment/Utv drama, CBS’ FBI: International.

No new showrunner of Organized Crime has been named. Olmstead has been drafted back to help with the remaining scripts. Most Season 5 scripts have been written, with production on the 10-episode installment about halfway through, I hear.

Olmstead stepped down as showrunner of Organized Crime before the Law & Order spinoff, which had received a straight-to-series order, had started production on its first season. He was succeeded by Ilene Chaiken,...

10 TV Spinoffs That Are As Good As Their Original Shows
Image
Nowadays, it is not too uncommon for popular TV programs to inspire spinoff shows. These new series, though they do have self-contained stories of their own, typically feature characters or settings that appeared in the previous shows that inspired them. What is rarer, however, is when the spinoff manages to maintain the same level of quality as the original. Far too often, TV networks merely try to capitalize on the preexisting popularity of a character or setting, and fail to deliver entertaining stories of their own.

Fortunately, some of the best spinoffs do manage to knock it out of the park, using preexisting characters but still managing to create inventive new storylines that captivate their viewers in new, exciting ways. These shows not only stand out as excellent programs on their own, but even manage to attract new viewers to the original series as well. While there will always be...

The X-Files: Monster of the Week Episodes – Horror TV Shows We Miss
Image
So it’s spooky time, and instead of doing something productive like making a Flukeman costume, we’ve taken a dive back into The X-Files—specifically the ‘Monsters of the Week’ episodes. Sure, everyone talks about the alien conspiracy, and don’t get me wrong, I love digging into the mythology arc as much as anyone. But what about the ones that still keep us up at night? Whether it’s from the hellish nightmares or those 3 a.m. ‘what is my existence?’ thoughts, these episodes have a way of sticking with you. You’ve been waiting for more so let’s go reignite those childhood fears…or joys.

Bad Blood- Season 5, ep 12: I’ve got a thing for unreliable narrators, especially when both Mulder and Scully are on storytelling duty. Bad Blood is classic Vince Gilligan, mixing absurdity with just enough Halloween flavor to make the list.

“It kind of split the show in season one”: Supernatural Writer on Killing off a Major Character So Early on That No Jensen Ackles Fans Were Happy With
Image
In a show, that revolves around supernatural elements, character deaths are almost certain, and CW’s Supernatural was no different. Amidst many memorable send-offs to its beloved characters, one death that shook fans was Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s John Winchester, father of Jensle Ackles Dean Winchester.

But it wasn’t the death itself that had fans divided, as the writers’ decision to kill him off at the beginning of season 2 didn’t sit well with everyone, and writer John Shiban later clarified why they swung that way.

Touching on John’s death in the first episode of season 2, John Shiban addressed that the decision stemmed from the difficulty of handling two parallel storylines. With the boys still in search of their dad, the writer added it became difficult...

Breaking Bad Script Reveals Original Job Choice for Saul Goodman After Identity Change
Image
After a life of crime that resulted in Breaking Bad's Jimmy McGill (aka Saul Goodman) going on the run, the former attorney wound up managing a Cinnabon in Omaha using the alias "Gene." However, the tasty pastry retailer was not the original choice for where Saul would end up with his new identity.

On social media, Better Call Saul co-creator Peter Gould shared an image from an early draft of the script for the penultimate episode of Breaking Bad. This was the episode that established that Saul (Bob Odenkirk) would be managing a Cinnabon after getting a new identity from the "Disappearer" (Robert Forster). The early draft of the script reveals that Saul's dialogue was altered slightly, as he was originally written to tell Walter White (Bryan Cranston) that he would be "managing a Hot Topic in Omaha."

Law and Order: Organized Crime isn't coming to NBC in October (or at all!)
Image
The Fall TV season finally feels like it's back to normal. Many popular drama and comedy series have released new seasons over the past few weeks, with more shows premiering soon. But fans of Law and Order: Organized Crime aren't so lucky this October because the show is not joining the primetime line-up on NBC.

Law and Order: Organized Crime has been renewed for a fifth season, but the popular drama series now has a new home. NBC has revealed that the show will exclusively be airing on Peacock. And while we know that 10 new episodes will be coming, we don't yet have a premiere date for them.

The season 4 finale ended with a major explosive cliffhanger when the "youngest of the Stabler brothers found himself with a briefcase full of a deadly Russian nerve agent handcuffed to his wrist."

We saw him as he set out on the "private...

Image
Exclusive: Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio is set to recur in the Peacock series Law & Order: Organized Crime for Season 5 as Isabella Spezzano, a figure from Stabler’s (Meloni) past.

Law & Order: Organized Crime follows the detectives of the Organized Crime Control Bureau as they take on New York City’s most vicious and violent criminal syndicates. In addition to Meloni, Danielle Moné Truitt and Ainsley Seiger also star.

When “The X-Files” premiered on Sept. 10, 1993 on Fox, viewers had no idea how incredibly bizarre the cases tackled by FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) would be.

Anything that was deemed paranormal, supernatural or unexplainable was called an “X-File” — the cases that no one else in the agency wanted to touch.

In the show’s 11 seasons, they dealt with more than just aliens and shadowy government conspiracies. Their cases involved demons, ghosts, serial killers, sea monsters and even vampires. Here are the episodes with the scariest villains and killer creatures.

10 Epic TV Finales That Left Fans Reeling
Image
This article mentions sensitive topics like gun violence and suicide.

Some TV finales are epic in a good way. They deliver a jaw-dropping twist that leaves fans shocked but satisfied. Others, on the other hand, may go too far, either undoing the story arc or completely ruining the entire show. Dramatic TV finales don't always turn out so well.

Like Game of Thrones, some series over-deliver the shock effect and either anger or traumatize fans for life. Other series, like Lost, seem to have gotten lost on the way to a resolution. Sometimes, a show's finale lands on a cliffhanger that will never be resolved.
