During a press meet held there recently, Sivakarthikeyan said, “I have learnt a lot, especially from brother Fahadh Faasil. You all would have seen his work in Malayalam, but his role in Velaikkaran is something that he hasn’t done before. Initially, I wondered how I would measure up to him, but Raja had written the characters and the scenes so beautifully that I feel I have done justice to the role.” On his lead pair Nayanthara, Siva said that she has evolved as an actor through these years and aspiring young woman actors should take her up as the role model. He lauded her for taking women-centric films to a new level. Velaikkaran, written and directed by Mohan Raja, is bankrolled by Rd Raja under his banner 24Am Studios. The film’s technical crew includes Anirudh Ravichander for music, Ramji for cinematography and Ruben and Vivek Harshan for editing. Bridget Hoffman in The Evil Dead (1981)
Top 5 TV: 'Evil Dead' Sees Starz, 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' Goes Intergalactic
Bridget Hoffman in The Evil Dead (1981)
Doesn't it seem like the best characters on TV right now are non-fictional? This past week, a colorful slate of Republican presidential candidates took part in a debate so tense and sloppy that it may change the way those events are televised in the future. Warriors point guard Steph Curry and the world champion Kansas City Royals gave prestige-tv–level performances. Meanwhile, a Project Greenlight season that's raised questions about diversity and privilege in Hollywood ended with one final stand-off between producer Effie Brown and writer-director Jason Mann. (And how...

Worst Indiana Jones Film: Temple of Doom vs. Crystal Skull
Is Kingdom of the Crystal Skull really the worst Indiana Jones movie out there? We dive into the beloved franchise to see and make the argument that Temple of Doom is as bad—or worse—than Crystal Skull is.

Ever since Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls came out 7 years ago, it’s gotten the (much deserved) reputation as an absolute atrocity and a desecration to the reputation of a much-loved franchise. The Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls has been commonly divorced from the original trilogy as a separate and inferior entity. Most fans lump the earlier trio into one group, praising them all as masterpieces, unlike the disastrous 2008 sequel. However, that may not be the whole truth. The second film, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was also a mess of a film with plenty of flaws, silly scenes, tonal problems, rip-off moments and bad characters.

Lego Movie edifice growing for third week, with Non-Stop static at No 2
Oscars buzz boosts UK box office and whether growling on a plane or voicing an animation, it's Liam Neeson's moment

• Review of The Lego Movie

• Review of Non-Stop

• More on the UK box office

The winner

Adding another £4.79m in the past seven days, The Lego Movie now stands at a sturdy £26.67m after three weeks of play. That puts it level with the lifetime tallies of blockbusters including Spider-Man 2 (£26.72m) and Ocean's Eleven (£26.47m), and ahead of fellow animations including Ratatouille (£24.80m) and Wall-e (£22.91m). The Lego Movie will pretty soon overtake the likes of Shrek (£29m) and A Bug's Life (£29.45m) and is clearly headed into the mid-30s (£m).

Although box office for The Lego Movie is certainly skewed to the weekend, its decent performance in the Monday-to-Thursday period suggests that it is picking up a true adult audience, rather than merely adult chaperones of children.
